It always amazed me how they were able to complete a whole story in under an hour in these old movies.

I enjoy these precode gems. Whether good or bad! I just love these classic mystery films with a haunted, spooky mansion with secret passages ~ a mad professor ~ classic who-done-it. Perfect for those stormy October night movie marathons ....

Yes, some actors adapted well to talkies. But others... 🦧🦤

Despite suffering the drunken buffoon, it was a fun flick. Worth every minute to get another glimpse of Josephine Dunn. What a cutie! Thanks

Decent film considering its from a minor studio with minor actors and probably no budget. Studios would turn these out one after another in assembly line fashion.

We just couldn't make good movies as consistently as the Brits. Their mysteries are almost always well scripted and very well acted. I gave up on this one after 5 minutes.....embarrassing.

Basically, a lot of running around and fighting in a dark house, held together by the barest wisp of a plot, something about a guy trying to steal the secret of a solar energy machine. And there's a cowardly idiot for comic relief. Why do people find characters like this funny? Is it because they make them feel better about themselves by comparison? Oh well, at least there isn't a racist stereotype black character.
