I went to Dolan's restaurant last Summer 2022. I loved the food, but it was very expensive. It was a treat though. The kebabs had to be a minimum of three skewers, so I was surprised, when I saw you had only two. I looked for an Uzbek restaurant in Los Angeles as well, but couldn't find anything at all.
Thanks for raising awareness of Uyghurs culture like this! I hope the Uyghurs of East Turkestan live lives of peace, security and dignity soon, free from the cruelty of Xi Jiping's government.
Even though I'm Vietnamese, I've long had a fascination with Asian culinary developments from "the north": and I've attempted this Big Plate Chicken (大 盘 鸡 / چوڭ تەخسە توخۇ قورۇمىسى / чоң тәхсә тоху қорумиси) at home three times now.
*Fun Fact:* While *Asian languages essentially use the same vocabulary* with lots of things including cuisine, confusion arises with the *differences in word choices* or even simply from *varying pronunciations* of the *exact same word.* So what Mandarin calls "lamian", Uyghur calls "laghman" and Korean calls "ramyeon"; and what Mandarin calls "mian" (麵), Uyghur calls "men", and Vietnamese calls "mì".
Good video presentation but mentioning the full and correct address would have helped instead of just saying it’s located in San Gabriel Valley. The large chicken dish for $32.95 is way too steep. There are other Uighur restaurants namely Omar Xinjiang Halal Restaurant and Silk Road Garden Xinjiang Tianshan Halal Cuisine, both located in San Gabriel Valley. (I am also guilty of not providing the exact locations of these restaurants. Guilty as charged.)All of these places are rated $$$ (meaning expensive). I have tried the last two and will try Dolan’s next even though it’s a bit steep in price. Caveat: The more exotic sounding they are, the higher the price you’ll pay.
I’m originally from XinJiang. My dad is Kazakh. Uyghurs is not the only ethnicity that is Muslim in Xinjiang, but everybody just know uyghurs. I have no comment on political views that somebody expressed. But uyghurs food ( actually not just uyghurs eat those, but all xinjiangnese do) is in the top of the list of delicious cuisine in my life. I miss xinjiang and it will always be my home. ❤️ I can’t name any other foods that worth of trying by you guys. Because it is too many to list. Go karshgar and experience it.
interesting comment ,it is just food experience from author, i hope see and try first Kazakh restaurant in the united states ,because i have never seen any kazakh restaurant in the ET, or even Kazakhstan ...
Xianjing is historically Persian and populated by Iranic Tajiks. Obviously, the food and cuisine of Xianjing will be immaticulate since it's highly influenced by Persia.
Big plate Chicken is invented by Shichuan migrant to the Xinjiang province. That is not traditional Uighur food. Xinjiang/Central Asia is crossroad of the world. Uighur is spaghetti mix of all culture and there is nothing "PURE" about it.
@@texmexexpress Yeah yeah Persia is part of Babylonian empire ruled by Nebuchadnezzar. Babylonian has capital in Baghdad there Persia should be part of Iraq
Which of these Uyghur foods looked the most interesting?
Rockstar Eater Big plate chicken 😉
Uzbek is popular in my neighborhood and I was just thinking the same thing. Interesting that you confirmed the similarity in the two cuisines.
One day, I'll try Uzbek food!

East Turkistan-no,Uyghurstan- Yes.
Uyghurs support Xi Jinping. It’s only in the west where you find idiots like yourself who hate him.

That restaurant is beautiful!
It sure was. One of the most exquisite restaurants I've been in.
Adding this place to my list for when I'm back in LA!
It's totally worth the visit, and the owner is super accomodating as well. You should feature the $468 whole lamb. haha.
Please try more food like this video
