Good build. 👍 glad to see that some ppl still have enough brains to make things work for 1/3 the cost of what is sold to those with no skills or initiative.
I like your build. It looks really nice. It provides enough security for your ammo not to be borrowed casually. I'd be concerned about long term storage and it not being air tight.
This is a great build. I bought a cabinet that I'm going to place in my closet and I'm looking to do a slightly different setup with the shelving, but the same concept overall. I plan to divide my cabinet in half and store rifles on one side and ammo/pistols on the other with 1-2 shelves to go all the way across.
It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.
Nice setup, I was looking for something similar but that cabinet was $200 at harbor freight! Bare metal, no shelves, and relatively small. I would have gotten it for under $100.
You provided some very good ideas indeed. I have a similar cabinet that I’m going to take to the next level. My only suggestion for future videos…PLEASE LOSE THE MUSIC. It’s terribly annoying to say the least. Remember just because you can doesn’t mean you should! Cheers!
I didn’t see how you had made those shelves and installed them in the cabinet. Would you please kindly explain a bit more about making those shelves and installation? Thanks.
Is it deep enough to store Ammo cans? I recently stopped storing ammo in original boxes because the cardboard draws moisture and I was noticing that the ammo in boxes were oxidizing and the reloads in plastic cases were fine... so I'm now moving most of my bulk ammo into harbor freight 30cal plastic ammo cans. its heavy, one 30 cal can holds about 1100 9mm cartridges... but it does save space and I'm hoping that the ammo will last longer.
Thanks so much for showing this. It is exactly what I need. How did you attach the support strips that support the shelves? I'm assuming the support strips weren't attached to the carpet but to the metal walls?
Question I was on this ammo FB page and was told that I would basically create ( Dangerous situation by storing my ammo in the metal box) So any truth to the story of my ammo in this type of container
🤣 have those keyboard warriors ever heard about ammo cans??? I've seen russian spam cans store ammo for 50+ years with no issue and we use metal cans still to this day. Departments around the country also use metal cabinets.
@@isaacspoon yes I triple checked and are energizer straight out the box. I’m just confused. I have everything already just can’t get it to power up with the box
@@isaacspoon yes I’ve had it connected as well. It all works direct to the wall but now with batteries. Wonder if it’s because I bought the same lights but just longer and needs more juice? Hell idk lol. U have a great idea I just don’t have any luck

This is an awesome idea I need to do this for the spare cabinet I have.

awesome! just scored the same box from tractor supply for $99
awesome! its a great buy for sure
Great idea and nicely done finished product. I'm on the hunt for that cabinet now.

That’s awesome! I need to build one.
Looks good only one question why lights??? Isn’t it useless?? I can understand in gun cabinet but ammo storage 🤷♂️
Pretty slick
The thing about the carpet on the bottom going the other way...I have the same OCD problem lol. It ends up being a good problem to have I think.
Good job!!! I would like to do something like that only fire resistant.
I didn’t see how you had made those shelves and installed them in the cabinet. Would you please kindly explain a bit more about making those shelves and installation? Thanks.
I screwed 1x2 planks inside the walls with stainless self tapping screws from the exterior
Sweet! Very cool
sick af real awesome

I just drilled self tapping screws in through exterior into 1” wood strips
@@isaacspoon Thanks for the reply
Thank you for asking! I watched the video three times and was wondering the same thing.
My thought exactly, watched it a few times and couldn't get a view of the sides lol. Killer build.
Nice project I am looking to do the same I also reload and need to secure the supplies found nothing else related
I like:
1. “Insured by Smith and Wesson”
and,
2. “My neighbor doesn’t believe in guns”
This is pretty cool
Yea I can just imagine how strong and secure that cabinet is for $100 😂
Yes, the title word “cabinet” instead of “safe” really was chosen to device the viewers 😂😂🤣
how did you attached the shelves? Just though the side of the cabinet into the pieces you painted black?
Yes I used stainless sell tapping screws in through the sides into the 1” black pieces of wood the shelf sits on
Did u drill through the cabinet to hang the shelf
I used stainless self tapping screws through the exterior into 1x1 wood ledges along the inside
Speaking for most of out here, that wouldn't fit a 15th of ammo that we have stored. Cut though!
What are the dimensions for the shelves

Nice
how did you attach the shelve supports
I had 1x1 blocks I screwed through the exterior metal and into the wood
What kind of screws that was the most important part to the entire build did you drill through the metal first or use self tapers ??
Where did you get the grey carpet ?
Home Depot
How did you mount the shelf supports!!!
Self stainless tapping screws through the exterior
Great project. That same cabinet is now $389 on Amazon😡😡😡
How’s the quality 🤔
The battery box doesn’t turn on lights. I’ve got it replaced and still nothing. I got the same one u did
Weird. Are you sure the batteries are in the correct orientation? Mine didn’t have any issues

8x1.5V AA Battery Holder Case Box with DC 5.5x2.1mm Male Connector ON/Off Switch with Cover Pack of 2 (12V)….. is what I got
@@eddiegomez3357 and you have the motion sensor in line? Maybe it’s the sensitivity of the motion sensor that isn’t turning the lights on

Nice job but not big enough.
