Dusty was genius. In my opinion, the greatest female vocalist of all time.

I watched the full documentary as well. Dusty was an amazing singer and a wonderful human being. It is so great that Neil and Chris worked with her and this way her career had been revived. Their collaboration introduced Dusty to me (I was born in 1979), and I am so glad that we have such amazing songs with her like Nothing has been proved or What have I done to deserve this.

There are many great singers past and present but there are rare singers with that special something, a "gift" that separates them from others. Dusty Springfield, Karen Carpenter, Billie Holiday, Annie Lennox, Ella Fitzgerald, KD Lang, Kate Bush, Stevie Nicks...etc. Each one of these ladies have proven their vocal abilities and some, their song writing talent. Truly unique and unforgettable. Their artistry will live on to the next generation. The Pet Shop Boys as well are musical geniuses. It's great to see and hear collaborations like this. They reached back in time to bring Dusty to a new generation. Talent such as this are few and far between.

@@mitchconnerandsometimesjlotoo it's obvious you haven't understood my comment. I am referring to the various artistry and brilliant, unique musical gift these women in music history have given us. Whether as a vocalist, a songwriter or both. These women from different eras made a contribution in music history no matter what genre.
      It's not a popularity contest.

It sounds as if Dusty Springfield was a bit nervous but under the circumstances i could understand that.
She had wanted to make this type of music for her whole life, she like Neil and Chris was attracted to the same sex as herself but she was born into a family where there was really no chance of being allowed to be her real self at a time when to come out and admit that she was a lesbian would have been met with outrage and intolerance instead of any real kind of understanding or support.
Plus the fact that working with a musical duo such as The PSB and how great they are.
But if you see any footage of her performing tracks from her album Reputation and just see how happy and comfortable and joyful she genuinely is.
It's a shame that it came so close to the end of her life.
But I am glad that she had the opportunity to do so.
Thanks a million to Neil Tennant & Chris Lowe for making it all possible.

Interesting interview. Makes me think that a great record is like a great painting: it is fixed for all time, and so it needs to be right.

Most great artists are humble and a bit uncertain about their talent. Dusty was amazing.

They overproduced Liza’s album .Her wonderful vocals get lost in the heavy production . It’s a very good album that could have been beyond amazing . It wish it could be remixed and given new life ..

Liza Minnelli is a legend. She should've got the same producer that made 'Liza with a Z'.
      She didn't need these two.

@@joethelion6016 no I love her theatrical vocals with lush electronica n good lyrics , but the album was overproduced and they asked her for a more subdued delivery .. the vocals tend to get lost in the heavy handed production. But it’s a legendary moment in pop history no doubt ! Liza looking and sounding better than she ever did .
