When Scott Eike froze to death on New Year's Day, pressure to assist the unhoused community forced the city to open Bartle Hall as an overnight warming center. But as the crisis of a pandemic, sub-zero temperatures, evictions and chronic homelessness converge, houseless advocates are done accepting temporary solutions.
A new push for stable dignified housing assistance has emerged with demands that members of the unhoused community have a seat at the decision-making table.
