The best looking new- oldschool bike hands down!
awesome chase. where to I get a spare tire like yours?
Kawasaki absolutely crushing it last 5 years or so. 20 years ago they were my least favorite of the big four. Now they are top of the list.
It's only real competition in looks is the Honda CB1100, and it crushes the CB easily. But the bikes they are based off of the same was true. Kawisaki has always seemed to hold onto better styling between the two.
next bike reveal Lakto? :D
lol der lkto hat ja gepostet haha. ich find die boneville bobber schöner. for the others, i think the boneville bobber looks better
Don't know how you can dislike the look of this bike. It's gorgeous.
You're killing me, I've been trying to get a motorcycle for 2 years now and there's just more and more bikes everyday that I just WANT! That Z900RS is gorgeous.
Yeah, I got a feeling it's one of those things that I decided I want and when I finally get there and get it, it will be nothing special. But I would still like to believe that it will be tons of fun and it's just a matter of time. First I gotta get through a bunch of medical shit anyway, so gotta wait at least a year, then I'll have to get the cash for it so it will be 2 more years at least from now on that I will be able to tell. But good things come to those who wait. :D
@@GregOHajdu bought my bike for $250 and havent looked back 🤷♂️
like the street triple, this is a pipe which i wouldn't bother changing. has a crisp tone, it's not too quiet and also not too loud. just perfect
Daniel Schlegel looks great too
it does to be honest, and im one of the younger dudes who usually prefer edgier bikes
My father had a 73' z900. It was his "Highschool baby" and he had it until I was about 12 years old which was about 35 years later. One sick machine. New Jersey deamed it the first "uninsurable" motorcycle due to its tremendous power. Ill never forget taking rides on the back of that thing.
This video actually made me want one, my brother has a original 73 Kawasaki kz900 now. Those bikes paved the way for the superbikes we have out here today. Thanks for posting.
I apologise for being a smarty pants and your brother has a fine bike but it isn't a kz, they came out in 76 but his 73 Z1900 is even better.
The best audio and visual quality in bikes reviewer . Thumbs up. Good job
Dude, I don't know what others think about it, and really don't care. I LIKE IT! I like this whole "retro old bike" thing that seems to be coming about. growing up the "old bikes" were new then and as a child I loved them. Now as a grandpaw I can actually afford them! hahaha!!!
Thanks mate. As an Aussie rider of 53 years, I truly loved your expression of the kwakka 900rs. I never sell my bikes. I just buy another after 10 years. Thanks again. Well done. Loved it.
I saw on this bike at last year's EICMA and i fell in love just by sitting on it..happy to see manufacturers make good looking motorcycles other than those pointy cartoon-like bikes..
0
Really dude? You came into this video expecting a 16 valve , 4 cylinder , 948 cc motorcycle to be "slow"?
2thePtBassTuT I know right?!! That thing is super light too. I sat on one yesterday..it’s tall and well balance feeling
was wondering the same thing. it's a z900 in retro styling. Why so surprised? good reviewer, editor, but do a little research first.
This fella comes across to me as someone who don't know shit about bike's,
Lol He speaks like he's 19 or 20. Doubt he knows much about bike history
Love the New old school bikes and this kawasaki is a great looking unit
Chase, I subbed to the channel originally from your first rides a long time ago. You bringing these back made me turn notifications on for a channel for the first time on RUclips. Can't wait to see more, love that it's a whole new location n all.
Love the look of this bike, ... but then I'm old enough to have lusted after the 80's KZ, and Gpz's. The orange works as an homage to the Kawasaki's of my youth.
Still riding the 85 ZL900 Eliminator here, although this might replace it
Same here PeteyBoy
I lusted after late 80's and early 90's bikes wanted a zepher 550 or 750 back at the time i'm 38 but love all the 70's 2 stroke bikes.
Wish I had of kept my 1975 Z1A
alan cardwell even now i've got 3 bikes bikes. And would love a z900rs for me and a z650 ninja for the girlfriend. Wish i had kept my old bikes they are all rare now. Even my black/yellow honda mt5
Thanks for the video. Definitely cemented my decision on getting this bike. Going to look at the green 2020 model this Thursday. Love all the video angles you use for this vid.
Kawasaki killed it. In looks and power.
Nice review, I'm very impressed with the progress you've made over the years. I really liked the cinematic feel you give to your first rides now, very smooth transitions from your many different camera angles!
My dad still has his very first bike, a 1970something Kawasaki KZ650 and 5 other Kawas. An LTD 1000 and a couple others. He showed me this bike a couple months ago in December on Kawasaki’s website. I love that old school bikes. They are awesome.
This bike is the best retro on the market period. I love it so much. Black for me. Stunning details and the design team should be winning all the awards for best in class everything 💪
Finally a bike that has a decent looking stock exhaust as well
Surprisingly no comments on how awesome the stock exhaust sounds on this beauty
The changes between this and the Z-900 were similar to what they did with their 650. Same engine used across 3 different platforms but 3 different personalities. Kawi is so good at this.
My 1981 Honda cb900c will stand up hitting 3rd at 70. It's still quick after 37 years. I can leave nearly any big twin behind and it even held it's own against a cbr600f3 on a 1/2 mile drag.
I really enjoyed the seeing the angles shot beside you to see what you would look like going down the road. Awesome editing!
That’s an Old School Sleeper. Let’s people think it’s slow. When it’s a classic beast in disguise. You sound like your having so much fun with it. That’s an urban street fighter. You snooze you loose LoL 😝 that exhaust sounds amazing.
I just bought a 2007 Yamaha r6. I absolutely love it, it’s been my dream bike since I was 18. Love the vids man, can’t wait to ride it in the spring.
I like the choice of 80's themed music for the cinematic intro.
The first street-bike I ever rode was a 1973 Z-1. This is a PERFECT updated version. I want one.
Kawasaki, why not extend the RS line to include a Z650RS?
Bear Eggers because the z650 is a 2 cylinder.
I do wish they'd bring the 4 cylinder 650 back. With proper tuning it was really nice!
Well I got some good news for you
I really do like the look of the retro style bikes that are around right now, I really like the XSR900 but the Z900RS looks pretty nice too. Would be a pretty cool video if you could do a comparison.
i woul get a rear wheel numberplate setup and ditch the tail of this bike
As I got to use both and currently own the XSR, I much prefer the engine of the XSR and how it rides just a bit more, the seat height is definitely higher on the XSR.
However, you get much more desirable parts on the z900RS on of them is the radial master cylinder and much better brake feel because of it, I also preferred the analog gauges because it’s very clear at a glance, rather than taking everything in from a digital gauge as the XSR has.
All in all, throw a leg over both if you’re curious, I’ve always loved Yamaha and the engines are quite strong, so from a view of living with and similar perspectives- it’s Yamaha imo.
I will have to try and test ride them both at some point if I can, I don't have large dealers in my area so they don't always have every option as a demo. I can't afford to buy it either unfortunately, but if I could I would probably choose the XSR on looks alone.
It's interesting that in the States, this bike is seen as appealing to the Hipster market.
Here is Oz it's seemly aimed at guys like myself who have ridden for four decades and grew up riding Jap Muscle bikes in the 70's.
Particularly in the Jaffa colour way, that pays homage to the original Z1 paint work.
There's a genuine lineage thread in this bike, but the reviewer is probably too young to realise that.
He gave a raw review on how that bike works for him, as he said he dumbed it down - in style it's a Modern Classic (or is that Hipster speak)
I've brought one and added accessories such as the Z1 inspired rear grab rail and the old retro Kawasaki badging (lettering) on that gorgeous teardrop tank - maybe it was the overcast day, but the paint job is glorious on that bike, it has a real lustre.
That's because this guy has no clue what he is reviewing.
It's nice to see these retro standards. They look like bikes I grew up around.
Glad to see you test riding a modern retro. I own a 2014 CB1100 which is the closest competitor to the Kawi in terms of retro styling, IMO.
It should be no surprise that these bikes can move, they are modern liter-class motorcycles tuned for useable power on the street.
FWIW I would also say to those asking if this is a good first bike that the answer is “no”. Too much power and too heavy for someone that has never ridden a motorcycle, but that’s just my $.02.
Great review Chase, let’s see the 2017 CB1100!
C2W Awesome review by the way. Keep up the great work. Big fan and shout out here from AZ.
Insane editing Chase. I SMASHED that like button which I normally do.
"It's got more power the I expected" it's a sleeved down z1000 engine, what did you think it would have?
Ron Pierce how can it be sleeved? It's the same capacity? It's re-tuned with a different cam and intake, but the capacity is the same
Ron Pierce maybe you don't understand what sleeving an engine means? They took a z1000 engine and put and actual sleeve in each cylinder to being it down to 949cc
TheOzTurkish
Same capacity as a Z1000 and a Z900?
I don’t think you know what day it is.
As soon as I saw the jacket, the Monty Python song came to mind... "He's a lumberjack and he's ok..." :-P
I'm late on this video cause looking to buy this bike for summer 2019, but I did not see any historical comments. Yet, the Kawasaki Z1 1973 is the grand-father of liter bikes. It was the king of the road for many years. Even the 76 model I rode in the mid 80's was hard to beat Plastic shells do not had power. I kind of regret they dont have the 4 tailpipes, but I otherwise totally dig that bike ! Old school was real dudes...
It's the best review of Kawasaki z900rs I've ever seen. It's my all time favorite bike mannn ... You're having damn fun 😭
The Z900 is worth a first ride video, I love mine. This upstate NY winter is killing me but a first ride video would hold me over till spring ;)
the only dumb thing about the modern retro bikes is that often they are overpriced compared to the bike it is basen on
kennet knudsen agreed. If compare to what they charge for cruisers and what they have it looks like a better deal , but like you said, not compared to the bike it's based on.
An original Z1 costs a small fortune now compared to this bike
you can't blame em, it's a special market
Paul Rowlatt because they do t make them anymore
Great review, just subscribed to your channel - your enthusiasm and appreciation of motorcycles is admired.
Chase you are killing me! Do the Z900 pls! Otherwise, great video as always. :)
Yep, now i got to the part where you say you'll try the Z900, My man! :D
I havent ridden a kawasaki for 20 years. The rs900 changed that. Bought a black rs a month ago. Love it mucho
Do you have any plans on doing a ninja 400 soon? I’d like to see that one when you have the time for it!
@chaseontwowheels We need you to do this man :D
Done!
Chase if I was you, get this bike for you and Heather to ride around town. You said that during the Ducati Desert Sled First Ride....lets be honest, that Z900RS kicks its ass in every aspect.
Bikes I want to see first rides: Husqvarna 701 or ktm 690 enduro. Indian scout bobber. Ktm 1290 super duke and ktm 1290 super adventure. Yamaha star bolt and Harley 883 just for kicks.
I am waiting with eager anticipation for the Husqy to come out. But I can't help but feel that it's going to a dressed up duke 690.
id also like to see the husquvarna vitpelin 701 and 401
yes i'd love to see these as well!
Husky Terra Royal Enfield Himalayan
Gawd dayam chase, time to cut down on the calories.
True. The tonnage of the tester is notable when comparing Euro to American reviews.
This is a cool bike & getting great reviews, glad you liked it! I love it! Very comfortable, good total package
Been waiting on a video of this bike for so long😍😍. Keep up the great job 🤙💪
Been watching this channel for so long, haha. Keep up the good work man!
Dope ass bike! i love it, and the soundtrack, damn, just epic.
Awesome review! Realy like this bike and you do it so well, best regards from Sweden
THIS IS THE VIDEO I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR
Only you Chase would do a first ride on the z900rs before the z900. I'm dying to see the z900 first ride. Get on it. Much love from Pittsburgh. Keep up the awesome material
Ron Pierce I have watched near every z900 review on RUclips. I just bought a z900 beginning of February. I enjoy Chases videos and that's solely why. I'd like to see he opinions on it.
I owned a 1980 KZ1000 LTD, loved that bike. This bike is a beauty, I actually really dig the chrome. Yes it's $12K but it comes with a lot! Love it...
That is one beautiful bike for sure. I can't help but want to buy one right now!
Great job filming & reviewing. I personally like the retro style probably cause I'm old and love theses designs. I would definitely swap to smaller indicators, tidy the tail and move that horn to the center.
GREAT review. Thanks for getting so deep into details of the bike
Love the bike and the video. My second street bike was a 78 KZ 1000. Dude they are very powerful.
I'm so excited to find out that they came out this because my favorite bike was the old 70s kz900 and that a hundred and ten horse you can't go wrong
Love your first ride video's Chase. More please 😃
That bike, by far, is the best looking scooter you have done. I will be looking at one this summer.
i'm riding my dads old z1r. but i have to say the old z900 is my personal dreambike, therefore this bike hits a sweetspot for me.
I love it. Nice review chase. Iv always loved your reviews. More power to your channel. 👌
Great review. I love your excitement. I really want this bike!
I've had quite a few bikes and hands down my favorite bike for all situations was my 07 z1000. I feel like this bike feels very much like that with less aggressive styling but retro. My z1000 still had some upper end punch but way more low to mid range than a Supersport and everything was so smooth! If I were to get back into street bikes, now that I'm a little older this retro style with similarities if my old z1000 may just be the ticket! Very cool. Sounds like a brake upgrade may be about the only thing this may need.
I would love to see you review a Triumph Thruxton R, just because you haven't done that model. Just saying...
You'd have loved my 1973. I can't wait to try that gem out. Thanks for the vidya.
This bike has really been getting great reviews!!! I want one!!!
I think I see some comfort weight chase. Just don't let it too out of control jeje. It's ok I got some of it too. Shows you're happy with your wife love your videos never stop I always look forward to your first rides. Best of all first rides on RUclips. Very genuine and relatable. Not all of us normal people can first ride on tracks.
The first one came out in 1973. It was called the KZ 900. About 1977, they upped it a little to the KZ 1000 which was a 98hp motor. The new Z900RS is about 125hp.
1973, 1974, 1975 was the Z1. The KZ900 was only 1976, After that it was the KZ1000.
I’m an oldie and love this bike!
please do a first-ride of the Z900 chase, it’s a really cool bike.
pretty dope! I have the regular Z650 ABS, its an amazing bike. I am sure this is even better
I love the supersports but that is a damn good looking bike, and its packed with technology, unlike the classic bikes from which it was modeled.
Had a 84' KZ700 A1. Loved that bike...this bike has a similiar look. Looking forward to owning this one :)
Nice video Chase keep up the good work
Very happy to see a new first ride, to be honest I subscribed only becouse of this kind of video. Nice work, I think I would like to ride this bike. I'm a car guy too, so nice Infinity on your right at 21:08 :)
So yeah. I own one of these now. Really enjoying it.
That color is sick
The old Z1 900 was fast ... the new one actually has more horsepower and weighs less... Claimed horsepower: 82 @ 8500 rpm (old) 110 @ 8500 (new) Curb weight: 546 pounds (old) 472 lb (new).
www.motorcycle.com/manufacturer/kawasaki/1972-kawasaki-z1-900-vs-2018-z900-rs-spec-chart-shootout.html
I thought I was a Yamaha fan beginning as a new rider on the R3 last year. Bought a 2019 Ninja 400, fell in love with it and then bought a 2019 ZX-6R. I still ride the R3 occasionally, but I'm definitely a Kawasaki loyalist now. My next purchase might be this or the Z900
I'm a sportbike guy through and through, but I saw and sat on the Z900RS at a dealership, and thought it might be my next bike for real.
I'll have to purchase a 1/4 fairing for my bike, your right about that air hitting the chest!!!!! My 1st ride from the dealership had my arms feeling like I did a hard workout the day before!!!!
Love this bike, some people just don't want a bike covered in plastic, just reminds me of all the Honda civic/corrola cars now days, This looks like a motorcycle that you could really use for anything if outfitting correctly.
Do you think this would be a good second bike? It looks awesome and I plan on going to sit on one tomorrow.
You left out the best, most characteristic look of the "retro" bike: The faux cooling fins. Totally for show, but Kawasaki (and maybe others) have actually molded and plated them right on the engine block. Looks GREAT! Now, if we could just find a way to hide the radiator--! ;)
Cool review, I'd like to see you review the Z900 cafe version that's about to be released with the different riding position
Chase I really love watching your videos. Your first rides are full of enthusiasm, untechnical ramblings, and just the sheer appreciation for the sport. Since you're getting more subscribers, and some of these people may be new riders, I think you should invest in some proper armour and jacket for your reviews. Although this lumberjack look matched the Kawasaki 900 RS look, there wasn't an ounce of armour on your back, shoulders or elbows. Just saying I'd like to see people who set a better example. You are far from a squid, but something up top would look a little more responsible so to speak. Keep up the good work.
I dig this bike! Doesn’t do retro /quite/ as good as my Triumph does, but it seems like it’s got a bit more pep in its step. Out of curiosity Chase, are you using the same audio setup you showed in your most recent motovlogger helmet build? That audio is *crisp* 😁
This bike and the Honda CB1100 are pretty cool. Told my wife today tired of trying to flick my cruiser around and I’d lose my license on Ducati Monster but the Kawasaki would be it
Retro + Technology + LED = 👌👌👌👌👌
The biggest advantage of having a retro looking bike such as this z900rs is, it looks will not go 'out of time' (is that the correct word for it?). If you buy sport bike with a racer look, i can guarantee you it will go out of seasoned when a new models comes out. Retro bike in the other hand, will gives you the evergreen feeling. That is why Harley Davidson is still on sale until today even though the bike has the same design in ages. #justmyopinion
I hacking fall in love with this bike!
great review, looks like so much fun too ride. the retro look is cool, seeing this at the dealer then watching the review was helpful. have too say that the color on the bike Is sharp looking, better in person. ride safe, peace
I know it's not your style but I'd love to hear your thoughts on the new Honda Rebel 500. I'm looking at starting to ride and I'm told it's a good bike for beginners.
Great Audio Chase!!! Love the vid!
If it hasn't been mentioned yet, the Z900 is tuned for less low/midrange and more top end, and a little different riding position (and the futuristic look)... I'm seriously considering this bike as I currently have almost 70k on an '06 SV650.
i bought the '76 Kawasaki Z1 brand new when I was going to university in Toronto, Ontario. Back in the day ........
