@bxkid7 , I loved Dad's Army it brings back lots of childhood memories . Clive Dunn who plays Jones had a song which topped the Uk charts in 1971 called Grandad . I was 4 years old at the time & i have fond memories of when my own Grandad would sit me on his knee & sing this song to me .
This is the second performance of this sketch for the 1975 Royal Variety Performance. The original was recorded for Christmas Night With The Stars in 1972. The Christmas Night With The Stars from 1970 also featured Dad's Army. Terry Wogan, (Radio DJ and Television presenter extraordinaire), had his own version of this song that managed get to no.21 in the singles chart of 1978. This was largely on the back of the Brighouse and Rastrick Brass Band's version from a year earlier than got to the no.2 spot.
I was never a fan of the variety performances. You can tell there was no Croft and Perry dealing with the scripts for this. These are great actors but the scripts with Dads Army were pure gold and without them the spark just isn't there. Great reaction as always 👍
Dads Army is great but these don't work. The success of Dads Army is through great character acting by that I mean on screen. Television and Film. Skilled mannerisms homed and designed for the various camera lens. It is clear here that a lot of the comedy is missing on the stage. It is the genius of the character film actors subtleties that make it. The script on this was not Perry and Croft
Note the actors turned to their left and bowed. This must have been at a royal variety show.

Oh god I'd forgot all about Grandad! That and 'Grandma, we love you' 😂

Loved that😊 great reaction
The cast were on the Morecambe and Wise Show, would be nice if you could find the clip and react to it if possible.
That was great, I've never heard that song or seen this performance before, it was like a mini episode lol.
Thanks Kid 🤗💛
Here, Kid, I like that blue jumper!
