I'm happy to see that he decided to appear after all of these years. ❤️
First watched it few weeks ago, never seen it before, such an amazing twist
I was thoroughly enthralled by Dil - then thoroughly shocked - then re-enthralled again, like Fergus! I'm a straight white American male but consider THE CRYING GAME a pivotal film in reexamining my attitudes towards people different than me yet sharing universal themes of love and sacrifice. I've watched the film over fifty times and still love it today! Steven Rea and Jaye Davidson should have won Oscars for their courage to play such roles with great commitment leaving us fascinating characters.
Yes, Jaye Davidson captivated me too. Brilliantly acted.
You're definitely closeted man, good on you for sharing.
One of the best films of the 90s! Never forgot Jaye Davidson's performance and in Stargate too.... what a phenomenal star quality he had. And it's wonderful to see him here! He definitely should have won the Oscar for this movie: Miranda Richardson too!
I totally agree with you. This is the best wording about him: phenomenal star quality. He sould be a huge star.
I was astonished when I learned that Forest Whittaker is in fact American. Tremendous. In fact they were all tremendous.
Question: "Stephen, were you in love with Dil?"
Stephen: "I still am!" :)
Lucky Dil! Love them both!
oh my God, i was waiting for heard that! But dont understand what did he say at least...
I think we were all in love with Dil 💘
If Jaye ever wrote a book about his life I would buy it in a second. I think he had very interesting youth years.
I hope beyond hope that he does one day!!!
He made the crying game sucessful
Would have liked to hear more from Stephen and Jaye.
Me too! Just now seeing this in 2024! I had cancer when this was made in 2017 and was OUT OF IT. OH, I love this film so much!
Jaye is just so cute, he changed his appearance but the way he speaks and moves is just the same after 20 years :) Thanks for uploading
What an amazing film. Had such an impact on me. Stephen’s answer ❤️”
Aren’t we all love.
I think Jaye’s reluctance and almost lack of faith and interest actually helps him play Dil the way he does. Aloof but vulnerable. She can crumble in moments and then be the strongest character fighting for and protecting what she loves. Amazing love story. Reaction videos are all the rage now but have not noticed anyone touching this one. Great film.
Jaye is looking great!
Its great that Jaye gave a reason why he stopped acting. It seemed like he was on top of the world. 2 hit films but his reasoning seemed legit. Im just glad to get an update.
Sounded like a self fulfilling prophecy to be honest. Walked into two major roles from nowhere, is Oscar nominated, then says there's no roles for black people... Sounds like he just didn't fancy it anymore.
@@chrisjohn4605 I don't know why he thought that there was no role for him. He could've played straight men as well. I wish he has been born 20 years later. The people would love his girlish style nowadays.
@@dorakanizsai2297 He was a black, openly gay and feminine-appearing man in the 90s. I don't think it would have been as easy for him as you make it out to be. And it's not like we know exactly what happened - it's entirely possible that he wanted more big roles but it didn't work out and maybe reinforced his fears.
Besides, back then he said that the publicity was too much for him, and that might have factored in as well. Not everyone can or wants to handle that kind of stress.
@@TheYasmineFlower Yes, I know about his 'publicity-fears' back then. I think it would have been better if he would have been born 20 years later as I said. Things changed since 1992.
@@dorakanizsai2297 And yet, maybe things wouldn't have changed if it wasn't for him. I think he was the first black person to be nominated for Supporting Role, even.
My favorite film of all time. ❤ them. Love seeing Jaye Davidson again - he looks wonderful.
A SPECIAL place among my favorite films.
Same
Jaye has such a lovely, calming way about him. ❤
Thank you so much for posting this up, yay 25th anniversary! Pity the sound is so quiet even with every volume turned up full.
17:08 Jaye Davidson is a very believable & infectious actor that I know IMPRESSED the unimpressable for those of us in America who normally wouldn't have sat through such a foreign film. WE CONTINUE TO SEE IT OBSESSED BY HIS UNIQUE DYNAMIC LOOK & PERFORMANCE
I'll bet by the shift in Hollywood in this Decade there would be a greater demand for His skills in America
I went to the world premier in London and also the aftershow party in 1992 with the cast, Boy George and the pet shop boys
I was at the World Premier too.. at the Curzon Soho !!!!!!! A good friend got us tickets for my birthday Oct 27 1992.. 😁😁
Best low budget film EVER. I wish there was some way to follow Jaye on Social Media.
Wish Forrest had been there
@@Bot23 Good one.
if i remember Jay davidson was the first guy i have ever seen in drag and i was absolutely blown away.gobsmacked, fucked up ...HE WAS JUST SO MESMERIZING AND SOFT I FELL IN LOVE WITH HIM AS DIL
Same, I'm still captivated!
I'm surprised to know that Jaye's a black person, not latino as I previously thought ...
.. which means he's not only ambiguous in terms of gender but ALSO in race, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to grow up being misunderstood all the time ... well good thing he's beautiful looking, that probably helps ...
@@88feji As a trans biracial person, I can concur, it can indeed be rough, growing up not really fitting into anything. We find our way though, eventually. :)
Jaye is still so sweet!
He's still captivating. He never lost that aura.
would have enjoyed hearing everyone and not just Neil Jordan
Ive always been in love with Stephen Rea😘
damn nice upload. I've wanted this to happen for decades
I love this film, and I love all of you for making it.❤
Terrible sound! I can't hear them good at all!
Nice to see and hear Jaye.
Согласен с тобой :)
Although jaye is know as an supporting actor, I beg the differ as people remember him in this film as an enormous star. His role and his magnetizing charisma of a beautiful human being..
NO ONE MENTIONED OR TALKED ABOUT THE INCREDIBLE JOB JAYE DID AS DIL!!! HE MADE THE CHARACTER VERY REAL, VERY BELIEVABLE, AND VERY MUCH A WOMAN. I WOULD HAVE DATED HER! SHE WAS VERY REAL, FEMININE AND VULNERABLE, BUT STRONG! GREAT JOB JAYE!
I was at the World Premiere at the Curzon Soho. .. A friend got us tickets for my birthday.. Oct 27 1992.. had a great evening and loved the movie!!!!!!!!
What were your experiences with the cast? Did you get to meet Jaye, and was he nice?
@@nstruebluey39 No unfortunately not. Didn't actually have a chance to chat to any of the cast, but I saw Jaye and some of the other cast members.
And funnily enough, almost 30 years later, I live just a few minutes walk from the location where they filmed the front of the Metro Bar.. (the inside scenes were filmed at another location nearby down the road)
Woooowwww best movie ever for me! Stephen rea and jay davidson, wooowww!
Yes, I thought Stephen Rea was a lucky guy to find Dil!
MORE FROM JAYE!!!!!!
i had a huuuuuge crush on
dil and mr rea stephen seems sooo shy and humble and thts with any movie he does he is rarely a mean character and if he is he's still somewhat compassionate tht shines through no matter what or who he plays in a movie amd thts really rare in a person very few people have its like he has no choice it who he really is must be angel (i see u annie lennox) anywho he is one of the greats istill love him his little face alone makes u wanna take him in feed him give him a bath some close and a cold azz pint haha
thnx so much guys for all your talents amazing film
and i also loved the bar tender haha
Forrest Whitalker is missed! Just watched The Crying Game tonight for the 7th time I guess
Kate Robbins sang The Crying Game that Dil mimed to.
Ah, thank you! I was wondering about that.
jaye can be my baby daddy fr
JADEE BABYY I know right. . Those muscles 💙💙💙😘
Jaye could be my baby daddy too. I have muscles and I would even dress up in a football uniform for him, if it helped.
The Gene Hackman bit is right at the end, around 23 minutes in. It's not really worth hearing
Thank you!
Seemed so cryptic....what did it mean?!?
@@michaelnemo7629
What did it mean??
@@ruly8153 who knows?
Gene Hackman actually has been rumoured to be atleast bisexual so this is not news for me that he was taken by the looks of Jaye...
Classic movie
I can almost hear what they're saying.
Check out Jaye Davidson at (I forget) fashion show in 1994 I think.. with christian Slater and Kate Moss…. He REALLY a presence… its a shame he gave so little of himself to the world. But I respect him regardless.
I love the movie ❤
Holy hell you cant hear a damn thing
Miranda Richardson. Anytime.
Miranda is still gorgeous!❤
Jaye is still the same and very well spoken.
Funny how masculine Jay Davidson acts now.
I suppose he was bored with people constantly calling him Madam. Although I do miss his long hair...
Perfect singer for this song!!! This song makes me cry. All the suffering transgenders and others went through. We are all God’s children and people should never judge. We were all created different and special in God’s eyes.✝️💟
We need to get away from ALL religions and these fictitious stories of god's in the sky that have caused so much pain and death in the LGBT+ community. Atheism and believing in people, love and respect for our fellow human beings is the way to a brighter future. As they say..'Stupidity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.' We've done religion enough with horrible results. Time to embrace science and facts and do Atheism on a global scale to improve humanity.
Transexual not transgender
Heavens Jaye, what did you do with your beautiful hair?
He said in his very very few interviews that he was tired of being turned away by gay men as they wanted a more masculine man.. so he built himself up physically, cut his hair and got tattoos. Now he is happy married. I can see his point, if you’re gay and straight men think you’re attractive enough to be a women and gay men find you too much like a women.. well .. there you go lol
What the hell.. is the problem with my computer or what ? I can't hear shat.
Love " juego de lagrimas" fantastic film 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
7:57 так интересно слышать его голос 17:04 и 24:28 (so interesting to hear his voice)

Shame about the crap audio ☹
The director used the archaic term transvestite or cross dresser, but really Jaye played the role not presenting as a gay man in drag, but as a pre-op transgender or transsexual woman, in terms of the pronouns and being enmeshed in that identity of the time 100% . The film was definitely ahead of its time in 1992. It was a really good movie.
Dil is definitely not transgender, but a crossdresser - a gay boy dressing up as girl, but not wanting a sex change. That is/was not uncommon in the gay community. The plot is simply about Fergus accepting that he is falling in love with a boy, he thought was a girl.
@@bambibina8986 100% trans but we can agree to disagree, not worth arguing with a stranger over the internet! Peace
can't hear
Interesting take on if this kind of thing could happen in the political environment of the last few years, when basically every hollywood production, be it netflix or cinema, is some version of the basic themes of crying game. So yes, it CAN happen, and there's actually not much else happening than reiterations of the cryin game. So no need to worry.
JAYE I LOVE
Dil was a transvestite, not a trans
Jaye you are the best
I dont whi .?.. Jay Davidson Not WIN Oscar em 1992 for BEST actor /tranforming. Vers vers Nice i sim so sorry
al pacino dominated that year
+Air Doctor Gene Hackman won the Best Supporting Actor, not Al Pacino.
I'm pretty sure al pacino won best starring actor. Genehack man won best supporting actor. two different categories.
@@airdoctor1251 Yes, but Jaye was only nominated in one category, Best Supporting.
Blimey how boring, WHEN we could hear it. Movie was excellent.
interesting, would he kissing her (Jaye) again now? when he look like а man
I think he would, though he probably wouldn't have fallen in love with Dil in the first place if she'd looked like that, just because he wouldn't think of her that way.
But now that he is in love with her, yes, I think he would still love her and desire her.
I'm so glad Jaye is an actor not an actress, The movie was stunning, unforgettable. But, those were the days. Go for it Neil. I mean it
Teen Singer BENICIO BRYANT could be a "fallower" to JAYE DAVIDSON
Jaye, why did make yourself so masculin? You were so lovely!
Several interviews had him stating how he was often mistaken for a woman. I suppose maybe he got tired of that. He's still lovely, though.
He never identified as transgender. He just took on a feminine presentation.
Remember... he's a gay man. That means he wants to look like a man to attract...gay men.
@@johnnrobin why then did he present himself so feminine in his young years? I guess he himself was somehow not sure of his true 'gender' back then
Terrible sound, BFI should be better than this, can barely hear them speak.
ISAIAH 40:8 GREETINGS FROM GUATEMALA ! { I CORINTHIANS XII : XI }
I wonder if he likes Hispanic women😉
do you speak about Stephen? cause im wonder the same thing haha
Jaye davidsom inesquecivel
Neil Jordan looks so slovenly...shirt to small, button undone, why do artistic people mostly look so unkempt? Hair is usually wildly long and uncombed, I don't get it, what's wrong with good grooming?
I can tell you from experience that when you have a mind that's artistically inclined, you can tend to get lost in your head a lot and care more for your ideas and inner worlds than for the outside world and your presentation. I struggled with it for a long time myself.
Agree and he picks his teeth the whole time.
No offense to anyone who enjoyed this movie but I didn't like it because it was too out there for me.
Can barely hear used subs I don’t care what they say dil to me was trans more a lady there’s nothing about her that reads differently to a woman
Yes, my impression of Dil was very clear - I perceived her as a woman or transwoman, rather than a gay man in drag. This seemed very clear to me, even if it was not the intention. And he brilliantly acted the part, too. One of my favourite films.

que feo se puso Jaye Davidson, es un hipster de 50 años, con muchos esteroides, me gustaba mas su imagen androgina en los 90s.
aun asi Jaye es un feo hermoso y tierno.
