Very clever. and recycling as well!
THANK YOU.. those plastic bottle are great to reuse.
Thank you. Awesome tray spinning technique!
THANK YOU.. it works great it you do it slowly.
Looks like I will need a nether box in my shed to store them. Cool idea.
THANKS. a big box...
Slugs don't seem to bother my tomatoes, but the do love munching on my eggplant leaves. I'm going to try with them. Thanks for sharing Mark. I love repurposing materials that would otherwise end up as trash.
I agree , Repurposing is the #1 thing I do on my farm all the time. THANK YOU.
Do they just eat young leaves or do they crawl up the stem and eat big leaves? They ate all my marigolds I had planted in the beds, which are coming back, now. The eggplant is getting big, and something is munching on the leaves, but I don't see slugs. They leave my tomato plants alone... just found some baby black bugs on one leaf and disposed of it, sprayed with neem/ peppermint oil, no returns. I did see grasshoppers and a squash beetle, though!
@@joanies6778 If those small black bugs jump (about an 1/4 to 1 inch jump) they may be flea beetles.
This is a super Idea, thank you very much
Glad you like it!
Thanks Mark, your videos are great,I love your videos and I am adding many of your methods to my food forest raised beds
THANK YOU so very much. Always here to share and learn. Enjoy.
Hi Mark your idea is great! I'm going to try this. Thankyou. God bless.

Super great idea Mark
Thanks! 👍
Great tip thanks for the post 👍
Any time always willing to share. THANKS
BRAVO !!! ..... YOU'RE A GENIUS :):)
THANK YOU so very Much.. Have a great week.
Wow, I love it! I don't have a problem with slugs on tomatoes, but just about everything else! I might experiment using this on different types of crops. Thanks for another great tip, Mark!
Hello, again . Sorry for the delay. Hope all is well. You have a fantastic channel. THANK YOU for sharing.
@@iamorganicgardening do you have any equally effective solutions for groundhogs?
Very cool, I've never seen that before, I'll definitely have to try this hack and thank you for sharing.
THANK YOU. Always a pleasure to share with you.
Absolutely wonderful! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! THANK YOU.
Really appreciate your positive, get -her -done attitude! What do you use to stop vine borers in squash vines?
Sorry to say there is no way to do it. I just keep planting seeds every 30 days.
VERY COOL HACK!!!
THANK YOU for your kind words... ENJOY.
Great idea Mark!
THANK YOU..
It'll take me forever to save that many bottles but it's a great idea that I definitely have to try
I understand. This is for gardeners that have a huge problem with slugs, etc. Instead of using chemicals. Thanks
@@iamorganicgardening unfortunately that includes us. They wipe out up to 30% every year. I always have to start double the amount I need just to be sure and still don't always win.
@@abcde12345edcba I do the same thing.. GROW MORE plants.
Thanks Mark, awesome idea.
Glad you liked it & THANK YOU.
Thank goodness I don't have that problem, I guess they don't like the wooden sides of my beds. Now if you can build a SVB trap...UGH they make me nuts! Hope your harvests are plentiful!
Have you seen these are tried them : www.arbico-organics.com/product/5161/trapping-monitoring-ipm?gclid=Cj0KCQjw6ar4BRDnARIsAITGzlDzRwhwVsjoQ0YPt9qFN4cviQgPuOzRApkgBypOYRrgY2-wuAns5IIaAuDGEALw_wcB
@@iamorganicgardening wow no, this is new to me and I'm going to read more. Thanks! I've had good results with BT but with all this rain, I'm squishing eggs... they're evil!
Very clever. Thank you
THANK YOU so very much.. Have a great week ahead
I have copper tape from crafting with led lights. I think a ring of that below the plastic frill would keep snail/slug from crossing. No? Thanks for all the ideas.
When you have a chance search copper tape for slugs and you will fine lots on RUclips that it does not help to keep slugs away. They go right over it. This is a good video. ruclips.net/video/ZFn9TT_rlXU/видео.html
Great idea, did you notice any UV sun damage on plastic? I have problem with chipmunks, any advice will be appreciated.
In May when the plants are put in the ground, the plants are already fairly large, and this week the tomatoes are too large to remove the tomato cage, let alone something of that size. Definitely something to try when planting things out.
Yes, this is meant when the plants are very young only.
Exactly, and in mid July the tomato plants are giant, oh wait, is your area just now warming up? There are a lot of gardens in zone 3 that, but in those places they would keep them inside for a very long time, as the season in zone 3 would be way too short for a tropical plant.
I'm trying this for the first time now but I can't seem to get the 3 sleeves to slide nicely inside each other. The inside sleeve puckers and then the next inside that puckers more because they're all the same size. Any tips on how to get a smooth single cylinder look like yours?
You can cut the 2 top inserts from top to bottom so it will help you side then in . Thanks
Genius!
THANK YOU KINDLY..
How many of these do you make for a season?
As many as I can.. For things I plant very early. More slugs then. THANKS
I use my 2 liter bottles for self wicking buckets, so using 3 per plant like this is not practical for me. I was thinking about trying beer bottle caps... Glue the smooth side to something cylindrical with the rough side out. Wondering if that would stop the little crawlers?
I believe that everything is worth a try.. THANKS
I remember spinning the bottle. Got my second kiss from a girl ling ago.
THANKS for sharing.. Good Memories.
Don't cutworms hide in the soil during the day, only 3-5 inches from the plant's stem?
Only after they have eaten the stem and the damage i done. Then they move on to the next one.. THANKS
Is this method still working for you? 3 years later what are you doing for slugs?
Got any equally slick ideas to stop grasshoppers?
I wish i did. They are difficult.
slugs get my young beans but not so much the maters
Very good point. THANKS
Same here. Slogs only attack the very bottom leaves of my toms sometimes. But when the peppers, onions and beans are around, they leave the toms and go for the peppers, onions and the beans. However, although they can really damage the bean plants, I find that come first weak of july, they seem to disappear and the beans and peppers recover pretty nicely. Onions seem to recover rather well too but peppers don't seem to recover as fast, although they do recover.
cool idea but not practical......you'll need 100 bottles if you got 100 plants..... who gonna cut measure and cut all them bottles???
If you lose 10 plants a day. You will find the time. THANKS
@@iamorganicgardening i been gardenig for 20 years!!! plant 80 tomatoe plants every year and never had a slug or anything touch a plant besides the birds and thats only when they small seedlings,,,,,slugs love my collards though and my cabbage
@@iamorganicgardening very happy to say here in july in jersey all my tomatoe plants are disease free!!!!...... im not sure if its from the landscape fabric i used for first time ever or the aspirins i dropped in there holes when planting!!!
VERY GLAD to hear that.. Here is a a fantastic harvest ahead.. Enjoy.
Correction, you'll need 300 bottles for 100 plants. Each protector requires 3 bottles.
This is a super Idea, thank you very much
You are welcome 😊
