  • The Sofabaton X1s is a smart remote control that works with infrared, bluetooth and wifi devices allowing you to combine everything from your TV, Apple TV, Fire Stick and even your Hue lights into one remote.
The remote has a nice touch screen and scroll wheel and after using it for a few weeks these are my thoughts on this super-smart remote control that even has a 'find' feature, activated via the app for those times you can't find your remote!

The main problem with the remote is it doesn't have a keypad. Before I enter 3 numbers with the wheel, the channel has changed.

Although I like the capabilities of this remote is has MANY draw-backs! I use the SofaBaton U2 remote and here's why I like it over the XS1. First, rechargeable battery over conventional AA batteries! The X1S remote is rendered USELESS when dead and CANNOT be used until it has enough of a charge to use it. The U2 you can simply swap in NEW batteries in seconds and you are up and running without the wait. Second, the LACK of physical buttons FORCING you to use the scroll-wheel and on-screen menus vs. the buttons of the U2. With the U2 you can program macros using a single button press eliminating all the scrolling and dicking around with the scroll ball to do what you ACTUALLY need. I absolutely HATE rechargeable remotes cuz when they are dead so are YOU! You can't do DICK without a remote and if it's dead and takes 15min to get enough charge to actually use when totally dead it's WORTHLESS to me in the "real world". The high-end Logitech Harmony remotes were notorious for this and HATED it! Not too simple to replace the dead rechargeable battery in most of these remotes either and their charge decreases rapidly too because they all use cheap cells. The U2 is pretty simple to setup and does EXACTLY what you want without the EXTRA price and hassle of having to CONSTANTLY having to charge it and are shit-out-of-luck if you forgot to charge it! Just a "real-world" opinion and actual day-to-day user!
