Prado is not designed to be a small suburban constant 7 seater. That's what Kluger is. Prado and the LandCruiser 200 are for suburbs and rural homes who need 5 seats and the odd 7 seat configuration. Yes but the Prado Fortuner & Hilux now all have the 2.8 TD donk - with the renowned diesel particulate filter exhaust issues trying to meet clean air emissions regulations, & Toyota won’t admit they have a design / engineering flaw & either redesign & retrofit something that actually works under recall! Instead they are duck shoving the problems back onto owners! This is NOT what we came to expect from Toyota, once upon a time they looked after their customers as the valuable assets they actually are but seemingly those days are now dead. This took 14s 0-100kmh with only driver loaded. If this gets fully loaded in a highway, try to overtake a single trailer truck, bus or a caravan will be a ‘mission impossible’.
Kind of remarkable that something as middle of the road as a Prado can provoke such strong emotions from the comment section here. You will quickly find that is is very unreliable in relation to its dpf filter which when full cripples the car and requires a manual dpf clean. Toyota's from the 90's were excellent. Towards the late 90's however, Toyota started lacking and nowadays they are some of the most boring cars on the road.

Good review. You nailed the problem. It is a huge offroad vehicle. High because it needs ground clearance. Heavy because it has four wheel drive engineering. Old technology because it is a Toyota. CX9 is modern and luxurious.
Hello from Costa Rica Central America. You should compare this car against the Haval H9. Which down here comes with a diesel engine developed in Germany.
this is 2018 model.....according to the price, and comparing with the last generation Prado, Only the look design changed, nothing at all, inside still old fashion.... Toyota you should remember one thing, "move forward, or you will fall behind"
This model Prado came out in 2009 so given Toyota's record of hanging onto a shape for 10 years and giving it small updates and facelifts throughout its life which is all it needs, I would expect to see an all new Prado and possibly LandCruiser in the next year or a little longer I'd say. But unlike Ford who need to bring an all new shape out every five years it seems to keep the car selling, Toyota don't, they just refine their cars with updates like I already said every three years roughly. Lastly Toyota did do a major drivetrain upgrade which lets face it is the most important thing on the car back in 2015 or 2016 when they switched from the 1KD engine to the new 1GD engine.
Start the review with an umbrella, yet not a drop of rain on the car, which kinda set the tone for the rest of the review........ That the Prado is just a fashion accessory for soccer mums, and it dose a crap job at being a family SUV, because it’s based on a Hilux. So it also does a crap job at being a “Landcruiser” because it’s not really a Landcruiser.
Jimmx Jimmx Ah, good Ol Jim, you’re so full of wisdom. Well, I’ll just go back to my box. Thanks for the heads up on doing some research, and all this time, while working late into the night changing injectors, here I was thinking the Hilux and Prado were similar in some way. Not sure why. My Bad

Jimmx Jimmx wow, they share the same gearbox?? The engine is the also exactly the same, no differences? What about the 4x4 system? Is that the same as the SR5, or did Toyota just make one specificity for the Prado?
ottoswinebar. Read the seventh word of my last post and a clue is it starts with E... Now for some basics. The Prado is a ladder chassis with a permanent 4WD system. The Hilux is on a global platform and has an electronic AWD system and runs in RWD most of the time. Now let’s point you in the direction of the Toyota Fortuna... Because you are clearly comparing the wrong car! On that point I am giving up on this post as will never be able to compete with your outstanding level of stupidity. 🤣😂🤣

i like prado
I think that kukudo is better
2019 Mazda CX-5 plz
Matthias Lillis, will see you stuck in the car park while after you run over a kerb...🤣😂😅😂🤣🤣😂😅😂🤣🤣
Good review. You nailed the problem. It is a huge offroad vehicle. High because it needs ground clearance. Heavy because it has four wheel drive engineering. Old technology because it is a Toyota. CX9 is modern and luxurious.
Actually with auto and leather accent the price is 71,000
I paid $7000 less than that
She likes to ride it high!!
Hello from Costa Rica Central America.
You should compare this car against the Haval H9. Which down here comes with a diesel engine developed in Germany.
Toyota Land Cruiser & Prado are built to last but that interior is so dated compared to any similarly priced Mercedes, BMW or even Volvo.
QWETIS
y no straight 6 cyl diesel... this is heavy car. No manual for petrol i guess?
You can definitely feel the weight of the vehicle when driving it.
Sunroof ?????
Buy the Kakadoo? 🤣😂😅😂🤣
this is 2018 model.....according to the price, and comparing with the last generation Prado, Only the look design changed, nothing at all, inside still old fashion.... Toyota you should remember one thing, "move forward, or you will fall behind"
Sui Deng land cruiser is build to last. They are not for urban commuters at all.
So it also does a crap job at being a “Landcruiser” because it’s not really a Landcruiser.
ottoswinebar WTF are you talking about saying it’s based on a Hilux? It’s a 4X4 Prado? Go do a bit of homework before you come back....🤣😂😅🤐
Jimmx Jimmx Ah, good Ol Jim, you’re so full of wisdom.
Well, I’ll just go back to my box.
Thanks for the heads up on doing some research, and all this time, while working late into the night changing injectors, here I was thinking the Hilux and Prado were similar in some way. Not sure why.
My Bad
ottoswinebar Similar in that they share an engine and gear box. Now other similarities are it has four wheels, doors, windscreen wipers and even a steering wheel. 🤡🤣😂😅
Ooooooh my God. Plz someone gift me this vehicle plzzzzzzzzzz.
Its my dream vehicle plzzzzzz
This is good car😊

Not sure of the value of this review. It's for people who want to do both on and offroad driving yet no offroad review. Are you trying to placate the mums who may use it? Doesn't do much for women's lib.
WHAT.IS.THAT.SOUND? #hawaii
Cicadas. These insects are very noisy at certain times of the year.
White Plain

El mismo cajon desde Los 70. No se porque toyota no fabrica sus SUV mas modernos. Que compitan en belleza y lujo con la infinity qx90 porejemplo

Think I'd prefer Acadia for $42,990 driveaway with STANDARD tow bar ;-)
You are having a laugh or you work for Shitbox Holden right?
Ha...Holden.
Kluger competes with Acadia. Prado doesn't.
Hey guys, wanna hear a funny joke?

Jimmx Jimmx ok, great point.
Now go back and enjoy your brand new facsimile 🤔
As this is a Soccer Mum's car, they should get a real-life mum with kids to do a review next time.
Hi w02m08w,
Thanks for your concern, Nedahl is a mother of two beautiful girls, and that's why we've got her doing the family reviews. Have a great day.
RN
SO YOU THINK THE LITTLE WINDOW IS TO CHECK ON THE KIDS ???????? WHAT INSANITY ARE YOU LIVING IN??????

浮夸
Wao! Inside out it looks like it's been hit by the ugly stick... over .. and over... and over... and over .. until it turned into a Prado
Eyes of the beholder. 🤓

@@boratborat8045 good comeback fuckstic

👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻😊😊😊
Toyota prado is not a big car. It's a little car for me or at least compare to American cars, this is just a little baby in adult wold.
American cars?... 🤣😂😅🤣😂😅😂🤣
fuel consumption 8 litter to100 km . hahaha
it`s around 21 litter / 100km
driving last 4 years
I agree it’s not 8 but I tow a boat and average 11.5. Either you’re a terrible driver or there is something wrong with your car.
Check your numbers buddy. I have the 2016 and it tows at a consumption of around 12. Combined unladen it’s at 10.5.
Great car with all the power you need for every day driving. Never had a problem with it and I have just ticked over 150k.
There’s something wrong with you.
Maybe release your handbrake when you drive.
21 litres - you must have square wheels 😂
My wife’s hairdresser has one.
Saw the light and sold the Jeep?😉
