The Bahco and the Mora Companion were the first bushcraft items I bought. I've had my saw over 3 years and used frequently and still going strong. I have 3 Mora knives, the companion heavy duty in carbon steel (with a forced patina to protect from rust) the Kansbol and the full tang Garberg, all of these knives are easy to keep scary sharp and are excellent for wood carving and feather sticks and they often outclass much more expensive knives.

I’ve got the Garberg in Stainless Steel. I sharpen it on a Tormek T4 with Japanese Whetstone wheel. No exaggeration...it’s scary scary sharp...use it for chopping, battoning, feather sticks..everything. Love Morakniv 💪🏻

I have a couple of knives. One is a custom made knife with a 4mm thick blade, wooden scales and a leather sheath with a fire steel holder. It looks fantastic and was made for me by my mate who does stuff like that. I also have a cheap Mora Mikki knife and I recently bought a leather sheath for it that fastens to your belt horizontally. So it doesn't hang down, it lays parallel to your belt. So now the fancy knife never leaves the house.
I really love using the Mora knife, Its actually more comfortable in my hand, so I use it a lot.
As for a folding saw, I've always just used the "el cheapo" Lidl pruning saws. When they have them in I buy one. They cost under 4 quid and have always done the job for me. I keep one in my canoe pack for cutting away small branches that have fallen across the river. I keep another one in my day pack for walking in the woods. I think there's another in the garage that actually gets used for pruning in the garden. LOL.
But if someone was to buy me one like the Bahco one in your video, I'd be well pleased.
Keep churning out the videos, you have a nice relaxed style and I enjoy watching them, usually with a nice Irish whiskey on hand.
    Cheers,
    Big Al.

I bought my laplander after watching another outdoors guy using one,,, I am not able to go out and camp nowadays like you guys,,( wish I could), but anyway I started pruning out my conifers and did not want to stop!... it is razor sharp and a joy to use, ,,,, great saw and well worth the money,

Had a cheap supermarket brand folding pruning saw for about 3 years. It was fine then the blade warped. Got a Bahco laplander and it's much better, had it about 2 years. No warping, blade is still sharp after a lot of use. I like them, it's light in your rucksack, doesn't take up too much space and it's a reliable piece of kit.

I have been bush crafting for many years and enjoy nothing more than getting out into the woods and chilling out. I carry both of the same that you have demonstrated and can say nothing bad about either. The saw is 2 years old and has had plenty of use and still razor sharp. The knife is a practical tool and at £12.00 you honestly wont get better value for money. File the top edge if you want to use it with a Ferro rod. The scandi grind is easy to maintain and will stay sharp with minimum care, I always oil my blade just to keep it in tip-top condition.
There are plenty of "Willy Wavers" out there, you know the sort, mine is more expensive than yours...... The Mora is a great little knife and gets lots of respect from those who actually get out and get dirty. Thank you for taking the time to share and be reassured, you will get lots of life out of both items.

Great vid. You won't go wrong with either of those tools. A lot of YT bush-crafters say the Silky saws are better but bang for bucks I think you will more than happy with that one, I know I am. The Companion is OK for splitting your kindling with and making shavings etc. You might need to file the spine if you want to use it for ferro rods. If you watch some of the vids on YT about the knife you will soon understand how versatile it really is. Really enjoy your channel.

Two great presents and fantastic tools - you’re a very lucky father.
The Mora is probably one of the best fixed blade knives you can get. Certainly nothing better unless you buy an extortionate custom made knife.
I know what you mean about carrying a knife, but think of it as a tool. It’s a camping tool and the Mora really is the best. Perfect for splitting wood, in fact look it up on RUclips people use them for splitting bricks and it copes.
I’ve got a Japanese Laplander style saw, can’t remember the brand, but is identical. It’s great, use it all the time - camping and gardening. I need to replace my blade, but I’ve had it for 10+ years.

Had my saw for 3 years. First year I’d didn’t get much use but year 2 and 3 it’s had loads of use. Still on the original blade. I never cut on the ground with it so it never get in the dirt. Particularly good as it cuts on the push and the pull. The Silky saws are very popular too, they only cut in the pull, surprisingly and are very expensive. Your is a brilliant saw. Order a spare blade, you won’t need it for years! Thanks for the video 👍🏻. Atb. Paul.

I've got 3 Laplanders at various stages of wear/sharpness, they are great for the money - i.e. if you can't afford a Silky. Mora make great knife and dead cheap, Scandi grind though so nightmare to sharpen - if you do it properly - most people seem to go for a 'micro' edge which is cheating in my view. Thanks for filming, Andy

Bahco and Mora make good quality tools for reasonable money. I'd be happy to have either as a present. If you use the full length of the saw blade it will stay sharp longer. Unfortunately you cannot easily resharpen the saw because it has hardened teeth. I use a Wolf saw which can be resharpened but it doesn't fold. Soon be out wild camping again. Regards Keith

Hi mate, thanks for the video, that's a great saw, I've had mine about 7yrs, still on the first blade no problem after giving it fair use, but I'm always carefull about cutting stuff that's been on the ground awhile, incase I hit some grit, when this starts to dull I'll buy a complete saw, then I'll have a spare ,lol. Stay safe, best wishe's to you and your's, Stuart.uk.

Thumbs up Dan 👍 I've got the wolverine saw and the same knife. The knife I mainly use for cooking as it's not a full tang so not as strong for bushcraft and stuff. But good sharp blade and easy to sharpen in the field and light weight. I choose a saw over an axe every time, packs away smaller and its lighter to carry and you will burn less energy and calories than swinging an axe around

Used one for years but then i found out that the old blades they came with first in the early 90's can still be got on amazon. They make the saw ten times better. They are the "JT Pro" 396 blades, trust me you will not go back to the saw blade it came with after you see the difference, why they changed to a lame teeth blade i do not know but the old JT is amazing.

Love the laplander, tempted to get hold of one for myself after seeing your video.
I've the companion heavy duty. I'd reccomend a couple of mods to improve its use. Filing down the spine to allow it's use with a fire steel (tons of demo vids on here). Then get a pony tail elastic and put it over the belt loop twice, it makes a handy retainer whilst the knife is in its sheath. Other than that an occasional running over a strop to keep the edge in good condition, and a dab of oil, is all that's needed. You'll be passing it down to your kid in time, it'll still be a great knife to have. If you're not keen on using the knife, it's also great for preparing food while you're outside, just oil it with cooking oil.

    Been after a decent knife.
I have a Silky Zubat for work. Great pull saws. I’ve had it for three years, now. I replaced the blade only this year,as I use it a lot for work.(Garden Maintenance).
Expensive, but well worth the cash if used a lot.The saw was around £60.00,and the spare blade was around £25.00,depending on where you get it.
Can’t comment on the Bahco, but I’m sure it will last you a good while.👍🏾

Nice video again had my laplander for about 18 years it did a hell of a lot of work only had 2 blades most of it was on bone not wood cos the teeth on a lappy are ever so slightly set different to a straight wood pattern as they were designed in Sweden for wood prep and cutting up big game like Elk so you only needed one saw . Have had that brand of knives for nearly 40 years and they are at the lower price point but will do anything a high priced custom one will do again a well thought out knife from those clever swedes .
Great combo use and enjoy 👌🤘

I have a cheap B&Q folding saw, virtually identical to that Laplander, think it cost £5.99
It lasted years (actually still have it and use it) but the handle snapped where the rubber meets the plastic.
I repaired it with a tent peg and gorilla glue (although it doesn't fold now) and it still works fine using the original blade and I just keep it in a British army frog sheath.
I keep looking at the Bacho Laplander as a replacement but seeing that the handle looks the same as the one I have (that broke) it puts me off.

Thanks for the demo of this excellent folding backpacking saw, EW. It looks a useful piece of kit to carry on your overnighters, etc. Could I ask a question? I watched a review vid from another youtuber about a fancy axe. And I wondered, why do people use axes rather than a saw? It seems so much hard work using an axe. Sweat, sweat! I can see an axe can give a point onto a stake, and split wood, but a saw seems a better tool. Opinions? Axes are stone age - Barney Rubble shouting 'WILMA!'

The laplander is awesome, I've had mine a few years, stays sharp. I have a kink in the tip of mine, still works. Just sticks when opening and closing. Ps are you from round west Yorkshire way? I'm sure I recognise some of the woodland you've used.

The knife sheath can be modified. You want to get a bike tyre inner tube. Slide this on the sheath & you put a fire steel down it too. The rubber of cause can be used as an emergency firelighter .

I'm not one for knives and saws myself, I fancy if I was gonna be thinking of cutting wood for a bushbox stove I'd be better off with some garden pruners. less chance of cutting myself to shreds if using em while tired. if I was bushcrafting I'd go for a silky. longer blade.. I use em for chopping tree's.
Knives?.... can't think why I'd need one to be honest.
