I bought this car for one reason and that is reliability. The car might have a cheap interior but i have learned over the years that the less technology the less problems. The engine is solid and has a nice pull with the menual 6 gear. You cant go wrong with a Toyota. Very little maintenance required on this car. The only thing i dislike is the cabin noise. Not the quitest ride
So agree. I just bought a 15 XB. I value long term reliability. Simplicity. I know my manual transmission will be cheap to service and the lack of tech means less crap to break. It’s fun and well made. Tons of space.
"Youth, college students, youth, college students". I don't know how many times you said that, but I don't care, I'm getting one and I'm 48 years old :)
I’m 30 and I just got a 2015 on 11-7-17. My 2017 corolla got totaled got rear ended really badly. This time I went back to a coupe. Car feels nice and heavy and handles better than the corolla ever did and the tC cost less to insure too.
My 49-year old dad bought the 2012 version three years back. After that, he bought a new car (2013 Toyota 4runner), and gave me the tC since I have my license now.
I am 46 when i got my 2011 Scion tc and i am still driving till today. I already drove 22700 miles on it, change oil every 3000 miles with mobil 1. Never had a problem and i am so loving it that i don't want to let go till it stops.
I was looking at getting a Camaro but since I'm pretty broke and still in college I need something more wallet friendly. I currently drive a Sunfire sedan and my biggest issue is the 2.2 engine with 115hp and 4 speed auto. The interior is cheap cloth and plastic but it doesn't bug me. This car seems like an upgrade to me. Plus more mods that I can put on this car and full disc brakes. You guys complain way too much about the interior. You're not getting a luxury car with a tc, what really pulled me was the panoramic sun roof. I want my next car to have some type of sun roof and this seems like a great choice
I love how he talks about the engine is boring and wants more technology but yet he's never going to work on a car himself and the simpler it is the more likely I can fix something myself instead of paying somebody. I have an 08 Tc and a place wanted to charge me $140 to change the spark plugs. I said yeah okay, went on rockauto and bought some for $27 with shipping and did it myself
I'm 5'10, but sit pretty far away from the wheel. I have a 2012 Scion tC and people ride behind me all the time. You're not going to be someone who's like 6'6 back there, but my friend who is over 6' sat there and he was fine. You'll probably run out of headroom because of the back glass before you run out of legroom. Hope this helps!
The reviews are perfectly fine. Walk around or not, its not like we've never seen one before. The reviews are perfectly fine without music, it doesn't waste my time and gets straight to the point. I love that aspect is covered and I feel the same about this car as what's covered. Keep up the good work!
Thanks for the review. We have bought three Scions and we are very satisfied with them all: 2 xBs and 1 xA. Now, my 2011 tC is my 4th. I just bought it. I'm extremely happy with it. It came loaded and with fog lights. It's a 6 speed manual and it rocks.
This style of review is why this channel grew so much. I think most folks agree that this type of review should remain the standard for used cars. I was sub number, like, 300 -- and i'm still here!
You missed some important info.... This car does not have a temperature gauge, only a light that (hopefully) comes on when it's going to overheat. It also only has 1 back up light, even though it looks like it should have two. Source: We have a tC.
This is actually the replacement for the Toyota Celica, if anybody didn't know that. IMO its a car packed value for the buck. 18" rims, projector lights, 180hp, 6-speed transmission, and Toyota reliablity for just a hair over the price of a Corolla S. the Civic SI starts around $23k and only gains about 20hp and better interior quality. I'd would have gotten a TC if it offered more colorful paint options. Maybe tan interior with a Barcelona Red paint job? Wish they offered that...
Owner of the original 2005 tc right here, purchased in July 2004, the first week of its launch. The car being 15 years old, I know I should replace it soon, but I still enjoy driving it. No real problems over the years, but 15 humid southeast summers have affected the exterior appearance in places. It's going to be tough to let go of, that's for sure...
Then don't let go of it! I got a 2007 Scion tC used in 2013 with 122k miles on it, I got it for a winter beater. It quickly became my daily driver. It now has 189k miles after beating the crap out of it and still runs great. I just got a 2011 tC yesterday with 31k miles and kept my 07. The reliability can't be beaten!
This sells because its attractive, cheap, practical, economical, well stocked, and reliable. I'd gladly drive it! Btw, Smart key came with the 2012 Special edition model--the yellow one.
MrOldeastdallas welcome.. just do the regular maintenance and you’ll be fine i change my oil every 4000 miles with mobil 1 i have now 78k miles on it and so far so good no problem.
kwashiorkor saichi Yup, well it's a Scion Tc that is for sale but not sure if to buy it since there's some rust on the engine bay. The car is located in Texas and we don't get snow over here. I really like the car but don't want to risk of buying it and then breaking on me.
The 2.5L engine is a member of the AR-family, or more specifically 2AR-FE, if you look under the hood of a 2013 Camry, you will find the same badge on it's 2.5L 4-cylinder.
Im actually quite fond of Scion. One of my friends has an XD and even though Ive never really driven it I think its very pratical, looks sporty and has a nice stock stereo.
I own the 2012 it's a great car, don't listen to any hate (not saying redline reviews is hating on the car - talking about other channels). +cpthemonstergamer I own a 2012 too, just bought it recently. I have to disagree with this guys review too. It's fun to drive and looks a hell of lot better than majority of the cars on the road. I'd be curious to know what he drives btw. He says he likes the 1st gen interior which I think looks dated. I personally love the interior of the second gen, and the handling is on point and I like that it feels light. I'm pretty sure redline just doesn't have very good taste. I mean that tc is vastly popular and designed perfectly, it speaks for itself in the number of tc's I see on the road. Sure the FRS is a step above and also a lot more spendy. But my insurance rates would have been crazy if I bought an frs and my payment would have broke me. I think the tC is beautiful on so many levels, this guy redline is kind of clueless or he drives a race car or something, but not everyone wants a race car or better yet the overly prices wrx no thanks!
I honestly dont get why people bitch about hard plastic interior, I love it Leather interior would dry out and start to have cracks, and that weird rubber interior nissan uses also cracks and peels, especially around the air vents from the rapid temperature fluctuations. I dont get why someone would want anything else, its reliable, light, cheap, and overall better than anything else unless you get some steel interior
Really considering this car. I have an 01Tacoma PreRunne with a V6 and really need a more fuel efficient car for school and work. Either this or I spend a little more and get a Jetta GLI Autobahn
I really like the interior better than the first gen, I honestly bought a second gen recently and the 1st gen looks dated, and btw majority of cars have plastic interiors nowadays. By the way scion introduction was before 2005. I owned the 2004 Scion Tc in Blue Indigo Peral and had to wait 3 months while it was built in Portland Oregon. I made 3 payments before it arrived. In fact my local Toyota didn’t even have one to show I had to build it and order it online in store. My wife had a 2002 Toyota Celica Gt. I wanted a new one and when we got to the dealership they said it was discontinued and Scion Tc was the replacement. I loved that car. Wish I could post pics in the comment.
2005 Scion tc came out in July of 2004. I had to wait a month for its release, meanwhile my sister was kind enough to lend me her extra car. I still have my 2005 Scion tc. 136K miles and no real issues over the years. Still fun to drive...
Lol. The fact this costs around £13,277 surprises me as well. You could get a Ford Focus and a far, far nicer interior for only £723 more or a Ford Fiesta for £3300 less.
I have an 09 tC and I love it, but when compared to those other cars in the sport compact class...one would be better off buying the Hyundai Veloster Turbo or REMiX since they cost under $20,000 and they look really good, great MPG, and have the Panoramic sunroof as well. However, if you have the money for an FR-S/BRZ..please buy one of those instead. You'll thank me later lol..still love my tC though. This car has only received love from people since I modified it just a bit lmao..just a bit
Have you seen the sales numbers for the Corolla? A manufacturer would need to be insane to drop it, lol. I think it's important to remember that the auto industry has different audiences. Some people want sporty performance cars, and some people value fuel efficiency and reliability.
I gotta say I love the looks of this car, and the downside is that cheap interior and lack of power just doesnt go with it. I love it I hust wished toyota did something like the h9nda cuvic si just ofer a model with more hp and mor agressive on interior.
I'm just waiting till June 6th for the new Corolla.... if Toyota didn't do something where it's back into the competition other than easy driving for your grandma.... then they should just drop it. I like the styling of this car. But I think the interior should've been switched, first gen cheap and this one of better quality. It makes sense.... right? I don't know but hopefully they'll keep it around for a 3rd gen and completely revamp it from the ground up. They have a good platform but with

@@MiguelRPD lol sound dapening? bro u just live with it and get used to it it's not that bad
If you really wanna be picky af about it just pop the door panels off and put some sound deadening dynamat on it

Your expectations are way too high. It's a scion. You get what you paid for. Get over it
😄
Na, I actually like how he talks
i have a 2005 tc, almost up to 300.000 miles, original transmission and motor, no major repairs.
Interesting, I might look up a 2008 model. I have a list of cars that I might plan on saving up for and this one might get added lol
I doubt you still have it, but do you still drive a tC?
Its funny how you want to give the car a compliment but then you remember it's basically a Toyota so you just say everything is Decent....
If I had a dollar for every time he said Decently, I'd probably be able to buy a Subway sandwich.
Or a house

Have this car all blacked out, reliability is key never did any major repairs on it and it has 94k miles. 10/10 mechanically

+cpthemonstergamer you do know the scion tc beat the FR-S in three competition windows 1/8th mile drag. 1/4th mile drag and a cirtcuit track.

2005 Scion tc came out in July of 2004. I had to wait a month for its release, meanwhile my sister was kind enough to lend me her extra car. I still have my 2005 Scion tc. 136K miles and no real issues over the years. Still fun to drive...
My dream trucks!
Lol. The fact this costs around £13,277 surprises me as well. You could get a Ford Focus and a far, far nicer interior for only £723 more or a Ford Fiesta for £3300 less.
anyone else notice the little thing popping up and down under the hood on the top right corner?? wat the hell is it?
Lol wtf is that. I hadn't noticed it before. Looks almost like a worm, but obviously couldn't be.
it's a leaf blowing forward to back in the wind.
Wtf is that near the windshield at 5:40 sticking out in the little hole...
Never mind, it seems to have a cheap interior! The one I saw was a 2012 Special edition one. It seemed to have a nice interior, nice fit and finish!
40 years old. Just picked up the release series 10. Had the ‘12 until some asshat ran a red and totaled it.
boy you live in annadale VA
I have an 09 tC and I love it, but when compared to those other cars in the sport compact class...one would be better off buying the Hyundai Veloster Turbo or REMiX since they cost under $20,000 and they look really good, great MPG, and have the Panoramic sunroof as well. However, if you have the money for an FR-S/BRZ..please buy one of those instead. You'll thank me later lol..still love my tC though. This car has only received love from people since I modified it just a bit lmao..just a bit
Travis Thompson lol one would be better off buying a Hyundai hahahah that’s a funny one do tell another lol
got an 06 need an upgrade
The 2AR-FE 2.5 4 cylinder seems like a zippy 4 banger, my 2015 Toyota Camry has the same engine.
Agreed!
I was going to say that. I actually drive one.
Have you seen the sales numbers for the Corolla? A manufacturer would need to be insane to drop it, lol. I think it's important to remember that the auto industry has different audiences. Some people want sporty performance cars, and some people value fuel efficiency and reliability.
Yeah yeah yeah Scion tC I know a lot of people like it a lot of high schoolers drive them could you please review FR-S? :)
I have a 2014, it is so much better than the 05-10 and 11-13.
totally agree but at least Toyota would probably put soft touch plastics like they did on most of their cars back then
I gotta say I love the looks of this car, and the downside is that cheap interior and lack of power just doesnt go with it. I love it I hust wished toyota did something like the h9nda cuvic si just ofer a model with more hp and mor agressive on interior.
never seen a good review from you. nvm
These aren't performance cars. They're everyday cars. Not everyone wants a sports car. Anyway, I believe they are making a new Supra.
It's okay
I own an 07 tC
I heard some ticking after starting
My left ear enjoyed this
Get some blind spot mirrors and add a back up camera ... Problem mostly solved...
My 95 accord has a 0-60 of 7 seconds 💀 i modded it but still its just sad it could beat this in a drag race
2.5 is a good motor.
basically this was a 2-door Corolla
pontiacGXPfan - Not even close. Different suspension different engine different brakes bigger wheels low profile tires ...
If I had a dollar for every time he says "cheap hard plastic" I wouldn't be buying a tC.
This car's exterior doesn't match the driving dynamics. The previous generation was much better.
A backup Camera is stupid..its only for people that can't drive. My son is 15 5'7 and he can park my 2013 f150 and my 2012 escalate.
They have a good platform but with
Dont listen to him, the reviews are fine and true to life. We dont need music.
