Construction time lapse: Merklingen railway station

Our high-resolution construction site camera documented the construction of the station building, parking lot and bicycle parking garage for the new Merklingen railway station on the high-speed railway line from Stuttgart to Ulm on the outskirts of Merklingen (Alb-Donau district).

Merklingen (Swabian Alb) station is a regional stop on the new Wendlingen-Ulm line, which will go into operation together with it in December 2022.
On December 2, 2016, the state of Baden-Württemberg, Deutsche Bahn and the special purpose association "Region Schwäbische Alb" founded by the municipalities in the Laichinger Alb for this project had contractually agreed on the construction of the new Merklingen railway station on the future high-speed railway line from Stuttgart to Ulm . The extensive earthworks and track work began in May 2017.
Characteristics:
- Two platforms, each 210 meters long and 2.50 m wide
- Four-track system
- About 30 meter long pedestrian walkway with two stair towers and integrated elevators
