Woolie LITERALLY feeling himself after reading that error message about broken saves with nothing but glee in his soul is one of the funniest things I've seen on this cast in a while
The save splash screen they were talking about looks like it was actually implemented for sequence breaking reason “hence, bypassing certain story elements” So I f you do a skip, you could potentially get stuck because you get early access to an area without having the powers you should at that point.
Cassette Beasts looks and plays GREAT on Deck just an FYI. I played it on PC Game Pass for an hour before I decided it was the perfect $20 "Deck Game" Most fun I've had with a "Pokemon Game" since I played Pokemon BLUE! 😂❤
Save your time and money. There's plenty of great star wars games from the early 2000s that are still super fun, will run perfectly on deck, and cost next to nothing. I personally reccomend kotor and kotor 2 if you like rpgs but really the choices are endless.
Would also like to note that Jedi Survivor *spoiler warning* is not only buggy as all hell but it's also incredibly padded. Pat calls the betrayal in the first 5 minutes and assumes it'll happen in the next hour, no. The betrayal is the plot point the entire story hinges on in the last hour, nothing happens in the game. There's a section at the end where you're trying to get to Bode and you walk into a fight room and every time you clear the room the broom closet off to the side reloads with new enemies for like 5 waves. There's no elevator or other door for them to come through, the game just decides you're going to fight a bunch of enemies for the next 10 minutes and if you hold the closet door open they'll just pop in front of you and you can't leave until it's done
It doesn't help that the writing is kinda... uninspired? Like I don't know the story is one of the best in Star Wars yet but seeing Pat's stream and snippet from the game the dialog is just.. basic. I know Star Wars is for kids and all but at least indulge yourself in writing your dialog. Maybe it's just my problem though
It's increasingly becoming the norm. Just wait 6 months to year for the complete version and just buy it at a discount. All you're missing at launch is FOMO, and if you wait, you get both patches and mods to make the game better. You're better off playing smaller titles like Cassette Beasts and Signalis on launch and picking up AAAA titles years later after their initial hype simmers out.
Weirdly, a lot of recent games run into issues like Shader Compilation which makes it stutter no matter how strong your rig is. Even games like Elden Ring suffer from this. I spent hours trying to fix the constant stuter in the open world to no avial. It's a shame since I didn't run into any comparable issues with DS3 (outside of PvP jank) and Sekiro's PC port.
Alex over at Digital Foundry sounds like he's aged 30 years every time he has to review a recent PC port that has terrible shader comp stutter. LOT of UE4 games doing it too.
I think Digital Foundry said most of the stuttering comes from the dx12 windows shader compilation, playing on linux with vulkan and maybe even with the dx to vulkan wrapper on windows might be better
There was a minor news story that Zelda tears of the kingdom had its file size reduced from 18 to 16 gigabytes. The developers found a way to significantly optimize the game at the eleventh hour and did it because they wanted to. It makes the 155 gig download for jedi survivor, a game with debatably less content, look even worse.
Beat the game the other day. Bought it on PS5 due to Skill Up’s video, and even on performance mode it regularly stutters and drops sub 30fps. It’s a shame as the game is actually alright.
In Jedi Survivor I had an insane bug in like the first day of the game where it took away the upgrades from first level I got. So I couldn't grapple and I couldn't use the time stop, but for some reason still had the dual stance. I had to activate the debug mode to fix it which I'm glad I was able to do, but sad I had to do it in the first place.
I played Cassette Beasts and got hooked in the first five minutes. I heard it was coming to switch yesterday and will buy it again when it releases may 25th.
Been playing on my series x the screen tearing is the worst thing I had encountered untill the final few hours now I'm missing a bounty that won't seem to spawn.... Haven't seen any fix online for it either
Pat's right; lightsabres are cool, and you can like them and not care about the rest of Star Wars. I hate that Star Wars is space fantasy and not science fiction, but I suspended disbelief and managed to enjoy pretty much everything else. Then, I hated how Ep 8 made a huge deal about fuel when not even the expanded universe (that I saw) so much as mentioned a fleet tender. (Still have yet to subject myself to 9). Still, I replayed Star Wars: X-Wing Collector's Edition off of Steam before the pandemic! I binged Woolie's entire KotOR series when I saw he did them! Now, I'm gonna check out Pat's KotOR series.
I think another part of that is just Pat having had familiarity with a variety of Sci Fi universes like DS9's and Firefly. Many many StarWars people just didn't have any exposure outside of the very narrow overton Style window that also resulted in Guardians and the Trek movies that came after the 2000s
Ep 9 was like a religious experience for me. It is hands down the absolute worst movie I have ever seen. It is a masterpiece in how to not make a sequel. I have trouble even recognizing it as canon. I highly recommend watching it alone so you can drink in every frame without distraction.
I am so glad that I have almost entirely divorced from the AAA industry at this point. 125GB games that might be _slightly_ more fun than ~20 year old equivalents, depending on how much you like cutscenes? Nah.
I havent bought a $70 game yet, and I never will. There hasnt been a single $70 game released that is actually worth $70. The only reason I'm gonna be able to get SF6 on launch is because they're charging the standard $60 price. Otherwise i just wouldnt get it out of principle and miss out on a great game.
See, I felt dirty when I got the game box and was reminded that it had *THE BRAND* on it (i.e. an EA logo) and everything to come out of the discourse about this game just shows that one still shouldn't make deals with the devil. You just get effed every time. I guess I'll leave this one on my shelf until after Tears of the Kingdom stops stimulating. Maybe that'll be enough time to fix some of the issues.
You can tell they really Force Pushed this game out the door. Either Disney or EA really wanted this out before the 4th of May, it is crystal clear. Lack of optimization, console also having numerous issues, the game not being all on disc, etc etc. They bring up Wild Hearts in this discussion, but in comparison that game is still just fine and playable! I feel like in these instances when someone announces a game has gone "Gold", it needs a huge asterisk or referred to as Bronze or something lol. That "Gold master" is far from it in this case.
155GB is amatuer hour. Wait until Woolie finds out that the Xbox Series X version of Black Ops: Cold War with all the bells and whistles installed is 270GB. Two hundred and seventy gigabytes. For one game.
So IGN said Pokemon SV was amazing and one of the best ever of the franchise, but performance issues obligates them to lower the rating drastically to a 6. But this Jedi Survivor shit has a million ways to break it on multiple platforms and it’s just a straight up 9/10?
I'm curious what the overlap is between people who say "Fallen Order is a good game, shame about the performance" and "haha, Pokémon fanboys are dumb for buying Scarlet/Violet" (and vice versa, for that matter).
04:38 You right, Pat. Playing on PS5, I love a lot of the actual game design (traversal and combat mechanics) but it is very unstable. Crashes, cannot hold 60FPS, screen tears in performance mode, doesn't seem to like clothing with physics (capes et al). The story is also some typical jedi nonsense but I do like the characters. 08:03 Holy sheet, I found that error doing a side activity which is completely wild to me as I've never seen that before and I have no idea how that activity could relate to story events. You'd expect a game to just be like "I have no missions for you right now" or something if your game state hasn't met the requirements (I mean you don't get told about stuff related to that if you haven't unlocked the planet the activity is on).
it’s really annoying when old videos are recommended and i don’t check the upload date and put it in my watch later just for it to be a video i already watched
Jedi Survivor was great and better than the 1st game in every way imo, but I got it on PC and the performance issues made me sad. Still had a blast with the game though.
I'm noticing a trend where A+A+A+ game developers are putting more money into marketing than the game itself. Like yea, those Star Wars ads are cute but I wouldn't doubt that the amount of money it'd cost to hire Mark Hamill could've made a dent in the bugs present in the game.
I heard the game isn’t so great on PS5 and Series X. Which is a shame cause this was a AAA game I really wanted to play over the summer. I can’t justify a $70 155GB download that’s gonna be completely busted.
"Have you heard "The Tragedy of dArth Tari the wise?" The system that made gaming affordable and available to everyone in their homes. Not trying to suggest that fallen order was in any way close to the state that survivor is in, but when pat tried to bring up the bugs and technical state, woolie said "Ok fuck off how's the lightsaber"
How wild is it that a game handled by one of the biggest publishers AND backed by Disney, one of the biggest companies in the world, got released in such a broken state while games like Dead Island 2 run fine?
That is precisely the reason why it came out like this: 1. The marketing train has more say than the devteam itself, meaning that the pace of development has to be scheduled *around* the ad campaign, not the other way around. 2. EA and Disney pushing a Star Wars game have enough of market sway to promise the platform holder an amount of potential profits that goes well beyond any potential backlash. 3. The sheer size of the endeavor in the first place endgenders layers upon layers upon layers of red tape. Decisions take too long to happen, and since marketing dictates the pace of production nobody has time to do shit.
People who play Japanese games on PC know this all too well, KOF 14 remaining 60 dollars on pc when the ps4 version dropped to 15 dollars, Nier Replicant being virtually unplayable without mods, Kingdom Hearts costing 6 times the price and being Epic Store Exclusive, Older Capcom games being unplayable because of GFWL, etc etc
Why is Redfall mentioned in the title but not in the clip? Like, I get Redfall is probably a mess too, I dunno, haven't played much of it so far, but I thought it would get mentioned at some point.
@@Horatio787 In situations like these what actually happens is a conflict of schedules between dev and marketing - in that since the ad campaign had budget for X time, the game needs to come out *now* or it'll miss its ideal release opportunity (according to marketing). If the team needs one more year, that's too bad (also according to marketing).
@@just_matt214 That's good info to know. But I've heard the ideal time for announcement to launch is 6 months so it still seems like a completely avoidable situation that seemingly only nintendo really understands as a AAA dev. But they plan in decades not yearly quarters.
Woolie don’t let Pat fully crazy talk about Jedi Survivor. Even a lot of us who were watching his side were like “Does Pat have to refund his sponsor for crazy talking the game the entire time”
Yes Woolz, 155GBs... take that COD. In all seriousness, this is the likely trend whenever hardware gets a boost and storage becomes cheaper. It's the age of bloated games. This is why I'm happy that the Switch and Steamdeck exist. Those systems actually forces some studios to do the bear minimum in optimization, to just get the damn game working lol. Don't be surprised that 250GBs, big budget games become the norm at the end of this decade.
I feel like that's one more step towards a AAA gaming crash. Games will never die but I think AAA games are headed towards this reset point where it's just too many downsides to bother with them when you have mid budget games and indies.
If Pat thinks this game would have been a 8 or 9 without all these bugs he's kidding himself. About 75% of the way through the game the maps become so badly designed and it gets so unfun and frustrating to play through it. Theres ONE good twist in that 75% onwards but the rest of it is ass. With good graphics and no bugs, this thing's a 6.
Its crazy how many issues ive been hearing about this game when i barely had any issues on my PS5. The worst issues i had was when i go to finish an enemy, if theyre ever against a wall theyll always float in the air. And when im wearing my cape on my outfit my lightsaber will clip through in the cutscene. Other than that, i barely had any real issues. I loved the game. Its a fantastic game. A shame that its really broken everywhere else because its hiding a great game.
0:48 i was playing KOTOR for the first time and after you leave the first planet and it leans into being a captial S, capital W, Star Wars game with the Force and shit i just became so uninterested.
I fail to see any reason to look at a game that is over 35 gb and say "Hell yeah, I'mma download that shit!" There's a reason I tend to stick to the indie crowd. You get better games, less compromised visions, more chances of risks being taken, and you aren't bogged down the braindead, shitty expectations of overly intense graphics and visuals, something that has never mattered, doesn't matter now, and never will in history.
I would blame the devs, but at this point I will just blame the people who keep pre-ordering these games, and thats why devs dont give a shit about testing their games before releasing.

lmao no they aren't they're super easy to erase, remember Dark Souls on pc? It was a borderline broken piece of shit that required Games For Windows Live but no one *ever* says DS1 for PC was garbage
I guess people forgot 1st impressions can majorly impact momentum of future sales.
@@krodmandoon3479 comparing a port from 11 years ago with a near flawless fix from the community that released within a week is not the same as a game today that releases in a worse state with no fixes for 6+ months. Also people shit on PTDE for years but since there have been 5 dark souls games released since with little in the way of issues until Elden Ring it causes people to forget.
@@krodmandoon3479 DS1 PC discourse is a little weird. If you talk about the remaster people will complain about how it looks inferior to PTDE, meanwhile PTDE itself is a terrible port that retains the visual style of the OG (which I guess makes it ok in their eyes?). I guess they're just using community fix to have the best of both worlds. And as mentioned before me, Fromsoft ports have been pretty good untill ER, so that's not the best point of comparison.
Shit like this is why I don't even bother buying PC games until they've been out for at least a year. That's, for the most part, enough time for them to figure out their bullshit and take out Denuvo. Sometimes it's not even worth getting the console version until later down the road when there's a patch to unfuck itself.
And it's not like it takes them very long to put games on sale anyway. Except Nintendo of course.
This is a good practice to follow.
8:45 I love how Woolie started charging up his chakra
Hokage Woolie is always badass, but it’s good to see you smile and laugh in this one
Woolie LITERALLY feeling himself after reading that error message about broken saves with nothing but glee in his soul is one of the funniest things I've seen on this cast in a while
Playing AAA games is like eating at a chain restaurant.
You give AAA games FAR too much credit. A greasy burger from any chain is worth more than almost any AAA game nowadays.
The save splash screen they were talking about looks like it was actually implemented for sequence breaking reason “hence, bypassing certain story elements”
So I f you do a skip, you could potentially get stuck because you get early access to an area without having the powers you should at that point.
Woolie let out his inner O5-KAR with this one.
I am afraid to try playing Jedi Survivor on my steam deck because it may explode in my hands.
Cassette Beasts looks and plays GREAT on Deck just an FYI. I played it on PC Game Pass for an hour before I decided it was the perfect $20 "Deck Game"
Most fun I've had with a "Pokemon Game" since I played Pokemon BLUE!
Man. The first was already pretty padded 😔
Don't buy games on launch
Amen to that.
Cassette Beast launched fully finished & polished. Don't buy AAA AAATTTT ALLL lol. There is no "good time to play AAA"
I waited a year to play elden ring and it runs and plays like ass
Just don't buy games
Had the weirdest dream that SBFP was reunited and my bro and I just chilled with them.
We played Fusion Fall.
Yo Woolie is Izuna Dropping the lbs and I'm super proud of him.
When you say the game is "actually alright" are you saying its $70 alright or "Wait for 50% off" alright?
In Jedi Survivor I had an insane bug in like the first day of the game where it took away the upgrades from first level I got. So I couldn't grapple and I couldn't use the time stop, but for some reason still had the dual stance. I had to activate the debug mode to fix it which I'm glad I was able to do, but sad I had to do it in the first place.
I played Cassette Beasts and got hooked in the first five minutes. I heard it was coming to switch yesterday and will buy it again when it releases may 25th.
Pat's ability to sniff out any twist from the first scene a character appears is incredible
The game industry trend of "ship it and fix it later" is getting out of hand
I'm glad he mentioned the heat because I was worried my pc was having real bad issues cause it was cooking and humming intensely
9:45 pointing wojak
Been playing on my series x the screen tearing is the worst thing I had encountered untill the final few hours now I'm missing a bounty that won't seem to spawn.... Haven't seen any fix online for it either
Yeah bro he totally betrayals you.
Crime wave in Gotham.
For some reason I was laughing harder and harder every time I heard the poyo censor.
I want a game where I have to investigate Bodhi and his podracing buddies who rob banks on Coruscant
Vegepat, what does the scouter say about its file size?
IT'S OVER 150!
Woolpa: "What 150!?"
I loved this segment because it's something woolie can speak on how ridiculous this shit is.
They didn't even talk about redfall.
I can't wait to hear the boys thoughts about Xbox and Phil Spencer comments
See, I felt dirty when I got the game box and was reminded that it had *THE BRAND* on it (i.e. an EA logo) and everything to come out of the discourse about this game just shows that one still shouldn't make deals with the devil. You just get effed every time. I guess I'll leave this one on my shelf until after Tears of the Kingdom stops stimulating. Maybe that'll be enough time to fix some of the issues.
Wait is the implication that you "acquired" Tears of the Kingdom but bought Jedi Survivor?
@@cyberninjazero5659 The implication is that I don't imagine Jedi Survivor will be worth trying to deal with until about a month after TotK's release.
"We're sorry, we realize that go f*ck yourself" is my favorite type of apology letter
This game runs so bad that going back to something like Gotham Knights feels amazing.
You'd expect a game to just be like "I have no missions for you right now" or something if your game state hasn't met the requirements (I mean you don't get told about stuff related to that if you haven't unlocked the planet the activity is on).
it’s really annoying when old videos are recommended and i don’t check the upload date and put it in my watch later just for it to be a video i already watched
...are we sure that Jedi Survivor doesn't include distributed bitcoin mining software?
Jedi Survivor was great and better than the 1st game in every way imo, but I got it on PC and the performance issues made me sad. Still had a blast with the game though.
didn't think I'd ever see Pat posting Nik Tek hardware memes in real time ... he has finally arrived
Aww no more silly faces in the thumbnails? It's usually what drew me in for these clips
How am I supposed to know how to feel about the topic of the video without some cretinous slack jawed wojack face now?
I'm noticing a trend where A+A+A+ game developers are putting more money into marketing than the game itself. Like yea, those Star Wars ads are cute but I wouldn't doubt that the amount of money it'd cost to hire Mark Hamill could've made a dent in the bugs present in the game.
I heard the game isn’t so great on PS5 and Series X. Which is a shame cause this was a AAA game I really wanted to play over the summer. I can’t justify a $70 155GB download that’s gonna be completely busted.
"Have you heard "The Tragedy of dArth Tari the wise?"
The system that made gaming affordable and available to everyone in their homes. They had such power that they were able to spontaneously create competition and innovation in the industry.
And yet, despite all that power and influence, they were unable to save themself, when in their sleep they released an unending stream of shovelware.
They became so weakened that their apprentice struck them down and took on the mantle of the next Dark Lord of Gaming."
That is precisely the reason why it came out like this:
How many poyos??
Then: "A HUNDRED AND FIFTY-FIVE GIGS?!?!?"
Now: The new Call of Duty will take up 300 gigs.
How far we've come...
Still haven't bought or played survivor for my console but i heard the performance mode atill hasnt been stable 60 yet . It may take some months idk
ff16 getting an entire year of polish even though it's only (initially) coming out on playstation. that game's gonna be so fucking good :]
I’m not huge PC guy and had no interest in either game but I still question how they fucked it up this much.
I guarantee you the game was pushed out early it probably needed 6 months to a year in the oven.
I'm guessing EA pushing it out because Respawn is a very competent developer other than this game.
Even a lot of us who were watching his side were like “Does Pat have to refund his sponsor for crazy talking the game the entire time”
I love the fact that halfway the cut, they just give up to hide the f words.
If it has issues then its not worth $70. Maaaaybe $30 but thats mostly because Im too forgiving and Im aware of it.
If Pat thinks this game would have been a 8 or 9 without all these bugs he's kidding himself. About 75% of the way through the game the maps become so badly designed and it gets so unfun and frustrating to play through it. Theres ONE good twist in that 75% onwards but the rest of it is ass. With good graphics and no bugs, this thing's a 6.
hope they fix it not buying a console just for this
Genuinely curious, what does Pat want a person holding two lightsabers to run like if not Nairootoh?
Maybe like Strider? The old ninja run.
@@Horatio787 With two full length swords?
Its crazy how many issues ive been hearing about this game when i barely had any issues on my PS5.
The worst issues i had was when i go to finish an enemy, if theyre ever against a wall theyll always float in the air. And when im wearing my cape on my outfit my lightsaber will clip through in the cutscene. Other than that, i barely had any real issues.
I loved the game. Its a fantastic game. A shame that its really broken everywhere else because its hiding a great game.
Of course it is sony is their producer aren't they? Can't have your game be a buggy mess on your producers console.
Not ever paying 70 for a base game man
0:48 i was playing KOTOR for the first time and after you leave the first planet and it leans into being a captial S, capital W, Star Wars game with the Force and shit i just became so uninterested.
I fail to see any reason to look at a game that is over 35 gb and say "Hell yeah, I'mma download that shit!" There's a reason I tend to stick to the indie crowd. You get better games, less compromised visions, more chances of risks being taken, and you aren't bogged down the braindead, shitty expectations of overly intense graphics and visuals, something that has never mattered, doesn't matter now, and never will in history.
my friend bought me cassette beasts bc of this video lmao
reviewing a broken game is like reviewing a torn book thats been pissed on by the homeless.
i dont care whats inside theyre's problems all over.
publishers aren't ready for the responsibility of a 10 dollar price increase if they still can't release finished games
The real fuck you tax is the space it takes on your system.
why would a console game have screen tearing. have they never heard of vsync? weird
At least Jedi Survivor will be a good game once it's fixed, Redfall will still be shit.
What’s with the thumbnails or lack thereof ?
The person who does them was out of town for the week.
@@dawubber6676
Ok thanks
Way too funny that TOTK is running better on PC than Star Wars and it ain't even out yet or designed for it
Wow that is so fucked.
I would blame the devs, but at this point I will just blame the people who keep pre-ordering these games, and thats why devs dont give a shit about testing their games before releasing.
have you played EZ2ON?
Don't worry, guys! They'll Patch It Later™
Wow I can't believe an EA game is having huge issues! And they're usually so reliable and not evil!
