I agree. The writers within Dragon age are extremely talented, the relationship with Dorian and Solas, like most companion dialogue, is there for an express purpose. Solas goes on and on about how spirits are two sides of the same coin, how spirits are a purpose, but those purposes can be corrupted. The relationship between Solas and Dorian is a representation of the battle being "waged" between spirits of Wisdom & Pride. Pride being represented by Dorian, the man who's excessive ego couldn't be contained by the likes of Tevinter: Dorian: "Solas, have I offended you?" Solas: "If you have, why would it concern you?" Dorian: "Because we're here, working together.. and because I respect your abilities." Solas: "My abilities as a mage?" Dorian: "Well I... realize there's more to you that." Solas: "The differences between us are not technicalities to be discarded, Dorian." And just what might a Spirit of Pride say that could start a Spirit of Wisdom down a path of corruption? Dorian: "I was.. hoping we might find common ground, that's all." Solas's real problem is that he's got a real Jedi/Sith "FOREVER DOWN THIS PATH SHALL YOU WALK" mentality. What he seems to have yet to accept himself, despite throwing it in everyone's faces... is that while nature is grey, mortal *individuals* are more than static states of being. Pride, Wisdom, Lust, Faith, Compassion, Despair, Truth, Deceit and Varric all fought *for* the Inquisition. And despite their faults, demons *and* spirits alike got along long enough to save their world. That demons, despite everything he's done to tell you that they are the wrong version of themselves.. don't have to be inherently bad either. Is Dorian's pride for his homeland not what's driving him to say "I *know* Tevinter can be better! Let *me* prove it to you!" Is it not The Iron Bull's *lust* for life that helped him to finally start living a life of freedom? Solas: "It was not supposed to happen this way... You are the furthest from what you were meant to be... this changes everything... but it can't." . . . Imagine locking away your world's worst *immortal* criminals inside a magical new "VR World"; It's meant to teach them how to be a better person. Only when *you* got inside.. you found it to be inhabited.. not just by the person you put there. But a world. A living, breathing, and storied history of too many *real* people.. that are suffering under the ill will *you* had towards immortal mage rulers... What would your thoughts be? Do you end it? *Could* you? Dirthara-ma
Wow. This is a really interesting perspective. After Trespasser, I kind of started to think that Inquisition wasn't really about the Inquisitor vs. Corypheus... it was actually more a Solas vs. Corypheus in the background. The Inquisitor seemed to be the leader, the one making the decisions, but she wasn't really in control. I loved how you seemed to focus on this, with Corypheus' lines.
Yes! That’s one of the most intriguing things about the Dragon Age story is Solas’ involvement and the warped perspective history has put on him. I love it so much! Coryfish, the elven pantheon and the forgotten ones and their conflict with each other is definitely something I want to learn more about too
Knowing now that the evanuris were spirits who left the fade to live in physical bodies and that Solas never wanted to do that, all of Solas' talk about wanting to spend as much time in the fade as possible is really just him being homesick.
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it!!! Yeah, most of the dialogue here is from party banter and it’s tough to get some of that to trigger sometimes. I dyinggggg for the next game :)
Solas my love. If Bioware and EA ruin this relationship and Aliestar and HoF, and the whole magical world of Thades, then they have to watch out for Thor's hammer.
So glad I found this on my yearly revisit of Dragon Age edit videos. This is such a masterful mix of sound bytes... it comes across as a video essay using only quotes to so flawlessly establish the perspective you wanted to portray. Everything in this video feels so new, even though it is a compilation of sound clips that have existed this entire time. Thank you so much for this video!
Hope you all enjoy! 💕💕 Also in case you weren’t aware RUclips fam, I’m on Twitch and Twitter! Would love to hang out with you all! Twitch: www.twitch.tv/LadyLarani Twitter: twitter.com/LadyLarani
I’m not sure. I definitely don’t think Vah’nya knows for sure if that’s the case. I think Thrawn knows or suspected/was curious at least, and I get the feeling that’s why he was asking if the images moved her at all. I think it’s cool that she said music moves her more than physical art
Hey! If you could explain the Dreadwolf mythology I would greatly appreciate it. I have completed the story of Dragon age inquisition along with the dlc, but I never finished Origins or II so Im a little confused
Solas’s story is one of the best I’ve ever seen.
Dorian's conversations with Solas are so good...so much depth.

What an amazing video! Some of the dialogues you showcased I’ve never heard before, loved that!!!

Solas my love.

then they have to watch out for Thor's hammer.
Solas is definitely the shadow leader
this feels like an official trailer holy shit
This is really interesting especially how you did the conversations in the background!!! It gave me chills all throughout it!!! Well done 👍
That gave me chills. SO - GOOD.

Wonder if Ara told Thrawn that (IF) he’s V’s dad in treason...
