Yes you should listen Floor sing this with Nightwish but also the album version with Anette. This is one of her best performances and Floor's singing here really is based on Anette's original which she deserves appreciation.
Alternatively Anette Olzon singing it live when Nightwish was at the Montreaux Jazz Festival 2012.

Floor can sing whatever she wants and people will love it.She has the gift of captivating people with her feelings.

I gave for the fundraising that Floor did to record this show and I thought that as per usual, she would sell it on DVD/Blu-Ray, but she just decided to release the videos for free on her RUclips channel. What a boon this is for everyone. 😀
Floor doesn't sing this style often, but Tuomas wrote it, which is just as surprising to me. Anette makes it sound downright naughty, especially with Empuu doing his best Wes Montgomery.
I absolutely loved a totally untrained teenager singing Black Tomb early 2000. Absolutely haunting. "A storm sweeps through the mountains..."
Little did I know that she was going to be my favorite singer of all time, and yes, I listen to opera and jazz as well. But this performance shows how absolutely beautiful her voice has become. I will listen to this again and again.
This was a really really fun way to start a rainy dreary Saturday! Loved this! The song is mesmerizing and Floor is showing her vocal acrobatic skills. She's a QUEEN! I had read or heard an interview that stated Tuomas specifically wrote this for Anette, as she has a strong love for Blues and Jazz. And yes to the Emppu comment. He had never played much, if any, jazz, and had to learn a genre on the fly....and a little booze helped. NWA, If I am wrong with any of this, please correct me, or cancel me. Your choice.

Great Live yesterday christie , i knew you would love that performance.....she released " energize me" yesterday, an After Forever song .
I missed this live because I’m currently moving. Loved your reaction to this song it’s absolutely perfect.
Of course it’s excellent, because Floor! Anette did it really well though at Montreux.
The "Imaginaerum" (Good job pronouncing it right by the way!) album is a bit of a concept album which originally was going to have music videos for every song. But the director suggested to Tuomas that they adapt the videos into a film. The film features an old Rock keyboardist-composer in a coma with his childhood self navigating a nightmarish dreamscape as he tries to recover important memories that he's lost. The jazz lounge scene for this song is awesome!
You need to watch Imaginaerum the movie. I thought I loved it coz love nightwish, but my entire family were moved by it. Marco did play this on an upright double bass in recording and movie. Perfect description was this song being a dreamscape.
Marco cowrote this, you can tell Immediately from that sexy walking bassline

Fisser band and backup singers are awesome. Floor is spectacular in a different genre than typical Nightwish style.

There was this one time during the chat when I accidentally pressed enter and I immediately thought that my text didn't make sense. It was quite funny. Well, to my surprise it still made perfect sense even though it was a combination of two different half-finished comments. As it turned out, the only thing that probably didn't make sense was my explanations of that mistake during the chat. :-)
Well, sometimes our mistakes aren't really mistakes at all. I've recorded some music which had some "happy accidents" in the recording process and it improved the song. I'm sure it has happened to quite a few bands and artists. So, let's embrace our mistakes. :-)
Anyway, I'm really looking forward to the song "Fire", which will be released on the 25th of March. Just as that accidental comment said: "Many great musicians have been influenced by different genres..." I think Floor Jansen is too. I've heard that her new songs are something different than what we're used to hearing from her. That's great. Variation is the spice of life.

It's funny because (and I'm not comparing, just touched some old memories) the first part of Floor's vocal with the backing band reminded of the Doors, Marcelo's solo had a bit of a Steely Dan song, and leading up to the final verse overwelmingly reminiscent of, not so much metal but of Pink Floyd, or Yes. Just vibes guys. It's my favorite performance from this concert by a long shot and there are some wonderful vocal performances here. One last observation is that at the end, no one seemed ready for it to end, and the applause didn't begin until the music has almost totally faded. That almost never happens.
Wait! What? Jazz singers only sing covers? Please don't say that to Joni Mitchell okay, because that was not the case with her jazz.

@@dac2007 there are some (fan) discords, but Floorworld is a webside- you can find the link on the youtube channel of Floor. You have to sign in. Floor is there too as an admin and will post her news from time to time
The original album version pales in comparison to this one. This is the absolute best. Still no one has explained FAIR USE when others don't stop video until the end and then react. Not everyone is bound to these guide lines? FloorWorld is wonderful!
I meant to answer this @Spencer Butterbaugh. My apologies. When I started RUclips I watched all the way through without commentary. THEN I was warned that if I didn't follow Fair Use guidelines to transform the original material so that it bears little resemblance to the original, my channel could be pulled overnight without warning. So...I am attempting to follow the rules. As to why others do not, I cannot say. One thing is for sure, RUclips considers reaction channels to be the 'bottom feeders' of content creation. Mostly because a reaction video consists of a person ooh-ing and ahh-ing and that is it. It is seen as lazy content. And doing it that way, I AGREE! Most of the videos I make, even using Fair Use practices by inserting my commentary, receive a copyright claim. Because of this, most of my work is not allowed to be monetized, nor am I allowed to create a channel membership. I used to be able to receive super chats, but even that has been pulled in recent weeks. I have only received a copyright strike from Dimash's licensing. Three strikes and your channel is pulled without warning AND copyright owners can issue strikes retroactively. So...at any time my channel can disappear. Kind of like life...you never know when you are going to get another day. ha! Hope this helps.

@@TheVoiceLoveCo -Christi - You should go over to "Tank the Tech" YT channel...Tank's an ex-roadie, has worked for some big bands, and he polled a number of bands, record company folks and publishers to see what they thought of reaction channels...you might be surprised at their (almost entirely positive) responses.

I'm a huge fan of Floor, she's the true successor to Tarja and she's now the best vocalist Nightwish ever had, but this song was written for Annette She has the perfect voice for this song, and that's why this song will forever be hers.This version with Floor is very good, BUT the 2012 version from Montreaux Jazz Festival with Anette, slightly edges it.
Anette just captures the ambience of the song that bit better. The song is perfect for a late night jazz club and Anette tones it down accordingly. I feel at the end Floor just over cooks it and is slightly belting this out, whereas Anette version is much more subtle and restrained and is all the better for it
Tarja can sing pretty much mainly in an operatic tone, while Floor voice ranges from operatic to metal tone, she can rock for real. That's why some people say Nightwish has been through 3 eras with 3 different vocalists, a sorceress (Tarja), a fairy (Annette) and now Floor is a Valkyrie
