    I listen to Dr. Haver and it has just opened my eyes. I am 45 and didn’t know anything about peri menopause until I started listening to her. Keep up the good job!

    The original of this podcast, finally made me stand up to my doctors who keep saying, eat less exercise more. Ive had most of the sympotoms for 18m every time i go to a doctor, they treat for the symptom and never look at the bigger picture. Had a gyno tell me im too young. So i travelled 3 hours yesterday to see a doctors who does listen and step back and look at the whole picture. Im 39 recently, never had kids and have had a herendous hormonal journey. So this podcast made me realise i had to fight for myself because the doctor aren't going to. Thanks Mel & Dr Haver - You have given me the tools and confidence i needed.

      Well, your doctor is right. My symptoms cleared up dramatically with weight loss from healthy diet and regular exercise. No more cystic breasts, no irregular or heavy periods, no more migraines, no more ovarian cysts, and finally my skin is perfectly clear for the first time since my teens. I'm 39 now.

      @@sekushimitsukai330 So walking up to 10km a day with my dog, plus doing weight sessions 3 times a week, living on mainly whole foods, isn't already healthy? I love how people always judge you when you "look" overweight! I am not lazy and everyone always comments on how healthy I eat. I am not perfect but I am better than 85% of the population. The weight just all of a sudden started coming on in the last 2 years and I haven't changed a thing. The original doctor was wrong! because that was an assumption they made by looking at me, not by knowing my history. But now I am going back to my home town 3 hours away I am starting to get somewhere. I recommend not making judgements before you know the whole story.

    I appreciate these clips so much. I'm 38 and keep second guessing my symptoms. Society tells me I'm too young so I keep telling myself it's all in my head. My gut reaction is that this is real and every time I listen to one of these podcasts it reaffirms that I need to get hrt. All other tests have been done and they can't find anything wrong. They've guessed pregnancy, arthritis, gal stones, liver/kidney failure, thyroid issues, you name it. I'm tired of knowing this is not my normal all while having everyone act like I'm making it up for some sick form of attention.

    Dr Haver- I am reading your book The Galveston Diet, now. I can hear your voice in my head as I read because I listen to you SO much on RUclips. I have a question about Intermittent Fasting. One of my biggest perimenopausal symptoms (I’m 46) is low level nausea. I have had 6 children (my youngest is 9, oldest 22) and I feel like I’m back in morning sickness hell. After a year of feeling pukey 28 out of 30 days a month and no help from my OB I started my own path to hormonal healing. I can stop eating about 8pm and go till 8:30 am, when all the kids are off to school. But I CANNOT workout fasted. It triggers nausea for me in a horrible way. Is my 12ish hour window enough to reap benefits? Thank you for all that you do ❤

    Then I am an anomaly. I was peri at 42 post menopause at 50. Only symptoms from peri to post was lost libido, horrendous hot flashes a vaginal dryness. Then at 60 years old all Hell broke loose!!! Seven Dr's later at 64 I am on estradiol patch lowest dose made, 10% estradiol cream and progesterone oral every other night and guess what? No change!! Still having problems. What the H? How did I go from 50 to 60 with hardly any symptoms if I had Zero estrogen?

    I'm 51 and in Perimeno. I just started seeing a new PCP yesterday. I brought your book and the latest WHI article you shared with us - she was aware of the new WHI article.
    What exactly determines WHEN you could start taking patches or creams? I don't have hot flashes, but I do have trouble getting to sleep, fatigue during the day, some spacey/forgetfulness for small things (like forgetting to buy something at the store) and feeling "blasé" more often than I like. My new PCP told me I can't get HRT because I don't have hot flashes. Is this true - or just old info my new PCP is hanging onto?

    So should we take hormones at a certain age to support our health, even if we don't have "obvious" problems? And if so, will it not prolong our periods if we still have them?

    • @courtneyblue15
      @courtneyblue15 5 месяцев назад +1

      Taking HRT doesn’t change when your symptoms would naturally stop. In other words, it doesn’t delay menopause.

  • @samc299
    @samc299 5 месяцев назад +1

    How would you know you are going through this is you have a coil contraceptive? I haven’t had any periods in years due to having a coil but I am having what I would call symptoms of peri menopause apart from any period issues. I am not quite 40 yet but my grandmother went through menopause in her early 40s, so probably started the peri menopause at this age.

    • @Goldiibug
      @Goldiibug 5 месяцев назад +1

      It should be based on symptoms and not periods or blood work. Women can be going through perimenopause and still have normal periods so not having periods due to an IUD is irrelevant. Blood work isn't helpful in determining perimenopause because our hormones can change by the hour. These reasons are why doctors should be listening to the patient's symptoms.
