  • Step by step instructions for a nice little shrimp fly. This is a derivative of a couple of patterns, but largely inspired by Darren from www.untamedfliesandtackle.com.au/

    Materials used
    Hook: Owner fly liner 4-2 (your prefferred bonefish hook would also be fine
    Thread: veevus FL Orange 10/0
    Weight: dumbbell eyes
    Tail: coyote fur
    Egg Sack: Glo bug/egg yarn
    Eye: EP crustacean eyes or home made equivalent
    Legs: Tan tipped clear/gold flake silli legs and natural cram centipede legs
    Body: Sybai nymph dubbing
    Wing: Coyote fur
    Weed guard :20lb mason

    Have you ever tried using coyote for the dubbing?

      I have, it works fine but the sybai nymph is a bit coarser so blends easier with the egg yarn

    Wow sure looks the part! Nice job. Are the Owner hooks designed mainly for salt water? I love coyote. Works very well for so many patterns.

      charles mc farlane they are a saltwater bait hook, but no reason you couldn't use them in fresh Water
