I can imagine many usecases for cookies, but none for localstorage or sessionstorage. What are typical usecases for localstorage and sessionstorage? Grtz.
Good question-
Local storage is to store session for web specific stuff, if you have something specific to web then you should use local storage only as it has comparatively more space also. eg if the site has multiple languages then we can store your preferred language in localstorage.
Session storage use case is like if you are filling a form on a page and you don’t want to loose the data that the user has filled so far on refresh, then you can go for session storage.

I checked my flipkart in incognito & without login, I found nothing in cookies while item in cart.
you won't see those items in the cookies, but they are storing that in someway in the cookies, may be just the item id, because cookies do not have enough space to store the whole item data
