Something I was reflecting on while making this video is that my two favorite videogames Majora's Mask and Final Fantasy 4 both have the moon as a central part of their games.
Glad you love the channel! Originally for this video I was going to do a book review but halfway through recording that, I scrapped it in favor of making a video about the most exciting part of the book which was the moon mask. And then of course expanded it to a video of moon masks in general.
Thank you! I'm glad you want to see more. The majority of my videos are educational like this one. Even the ones that feature video game or super hero characters are educational because I want people of all kinds to learn about cultures.
Thanks Anthony, the song was from the RUclips audio library. It was one of the songs that pops up when you search for Africa in the music search. I wish RUclips would provide us content creators with a larger selection of music in that scope. By the way I just made another documentary style video for the Kugali channel, Its called the Faces of Africa if you want to see it, I'll put the link here: ruclips.net/video/tynLD-j6bmw/видео.html
Red Spirit Mask Good, cause it'd be great to have a high quality quirky African educational show on here, it's very original content and I'd think you'd get some consistent donaters.
Yeah it could help, I've been thinking of getting a better camera plus I could afford to buy more books which would help research and there are other ways that revenue could help too. I may wait till I have more subscribers first but we'll see. Thank you very much for your comments.
Well the time and way in which a mask is carved would depend on the culture, the mask, and the individual artist. So I can't give you an exact time but I'll give you a description of how some masks are carved. First one may make a ritual sacrifice to either the tree or the axe that will cut down the tree. Next, some rough cuts may be made to make the log lighter to carry. Then the bulk of the carving will be done with an adze which is like an axe but the blade is horizontal instead of vertical. If small details need to be cut into the wood the artist will use a knife or chisel or even take the blade of the adze off of the handle and use that as a knife. Also some masks are painted. Sometimes to make the holes that one would string fibers through to attach a mask to a costume, they will use heated metal pokers to make the holes. Also feathers, cowrie shells, and other things may be attached to some masks as well. Thanks for the compliment Paradyne! I should probably shave more often :D

...love the production you did with the music under the quote.
As Yoda would say: Creative you are.

Very informative general information. Funny commentary too.🙏
Thank you :D
You should start a patreon, so making this stuff is easier. Great video btw :-)
I might eventually. It's certainly something I'm considering. :D
