Definitely love your content and wish you good luck in GOI, but do you bring an extra heater in case one craps out or have you done a list on items you bring out for ice camping?
Glad you put out your videos even if there isn't a lot of fishing content. I enjoy watching your process just as much as watching you catch fish. Looking forward to watching the rest of your adventures throughout the ice season.
Man, you have literally set the standard for my ice fishing adventures.......and I hate you for that. 🤣 your costing me tens of thousands of dollars, and if I'm not laying a 30 inch walleye on the ice by sunset I'm disgusted. To let go of course. All jokes aside I really enjoy your content Man.
Great videos and great content. Thank you. As a newbie to ice fishing, you are doing a great service when describing- in detail, the gear you use. Thanks again!

Another great video! I love the content, Clayton! My wife might not agree though... I bought EVERYTHING I needed for ice camping recently... Mostly items that you use on your channels. Let's just say that thousands and thousands of dollars later... I'm able to camp comfortably and I have more Frostbite, Ion, Garmin, Eskimo, Otter, and Clam gear than I know what to do with. Now if only I could actually catch a damn fish! 🤣🤣
Thanks for the video. Lots of fish or not, you explain things well, highlight new or hot products, and just give everyone the excitement of being outdoors! Keep them coming!
Clayton, if there’s one thing I look forward as winter takes over are your videos man. I’m a busy guy as of recent and can’t find time fishing so watching you hammer walleyes and doing the game of inches is humbling. Fish for the anglers who can’t!
Clayton, I'm not sure if you have any influence with the designs of ice shelters from Otter but if you do you should mention adding a boot jack for a chimney. If you put on of the Seek Outside U Turn titanium stoves in there it would be EPIC and you dont get the side effects of propane heat. THANK YOU for talking about that shelf, I will definitely be getting one. a word of advice on the freeze dried meals. get the Peak refuel meals, wonderful meals.

Lovin’ how you added some kinds of vlogging about what you’re up to outside of the great fishing. It felt like a nice escape. I’m excited to get out there in Wisconsin!
Clayton, with the freeze dried meals a longer utensil like a titanium spoon or fork usually sourced on Amazon are really helpful to get into those deep bags and stir them up. Another great video love doing the ice fishing camping and picking up ideas from others.
What took you so long!!!! Hahaha. Awesome! I also love the overnighters! You have me hooked. Cant wait for more this year! Say Hi to Cindy and Carter!! See you in Fargo!
Hey Clayton enjoy watching your videos. You talk about not enjoying the propane heater. I use a diesel heater for my wall tent for sled camp and works amazing has the feeling like a wood stove. maybe something to look into I have the pioneer expedition but they do make a smaller one that will probably work better is you fishing tent! Pioneer heater is the brand Have a good fishing season!! Can’t wait for the next video.
Great video! I've been eating those meals on backpacking trips for a while now and I realized if you wait at least twice as long as the package says everything will be hydrated, no chewy bits. Long titanium spoon is great like someone commented. Also, the best ones imo beef stroganoff, mountain house or something similar.
Great video Clayton, this is my second time watching it and taking notes. You’re living the dream my friend ! Still waiting for proper ice here on Beaver Island.
Clayton, give Pack It Gourmet and PEAK Refuel a try for dehydrated meals. They are in a league of their own. I spend about 2 months a year living out of a backpack in the mountains and have tried 'em all.
i want to se you use an electric blanket for heat while camping 12v and 110v and decide if either are a good reasonable option for staying warm and how much power you need for a night
I bring mountain house meals with everytime I go out. Those and a jet boil. They weigh close to nothing and take up very little room. They are a nice safety net of you are travelling in bad conditions too
hi clayton i was watch a video of u winter camping i have done it great i didnt get to do it this yr u where u would like to try wood stove in the tent its really great i made my own stove its very warm and dry heat the best ya its more work but o well good for cooking heat warm drying out your wet stuff i was hope to do it soon but iam running out time thx
Hello Clayton! Very entertaining watching you eat freeze dried food for the first time, definitely an easy way to go! My favorite brand is called Peak to Peak, I would recommend trying it out for sure. Keep up the great work, I really enjoy watching your fishing videos!
My 16 year old son and I did a overnight trip last season we had a blast until the second 30lb tank whent empty at 4 in the morning on a -30 night in a non insulated tent what a adventure it was lol
Great video . I remember first time ice fishing and same thing happened to me ice shook and crack a 3 inch crack threw my hole out the other side of ice fishing hut I jumped and ran like screamed lol but now I no but still gets ya those big ones lol
Worked at REI for a while and tried all the dehydrated ones. the Alpine Aires were my favorite! Mountain House lasagna really isn't bad though. none of them would beat fried walleye though lol
Clayton, you would catch my cat in a heartbeat!!! He loves your lures and jigging and luring fish ( I would upload a video of him and you if i could). Can you tell me what sonar you use?
Try the mountain house sausage biscuits and gravy. It's great for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It's a bit cheaper than the regular MH meals. Makes a fair amount in one pack for us bigger dudes.
@Clayton Schick Outdoors You might want to check out a diesel heater. There are a lot of good reviews coming out on youtube on them. They give off a dry heat and can have the exhaust routed outside the shanty. You do need some battery power for start-up and shutdown, but looks like you have the batteries :). Another plus, you mentioned some summer boat camping or potentially getting a ice castle again. Diesel heaters would be great for both applications. Quick side note, I just saw another video of yours saying you guided at Wollaston Lake Lodge. When I was a kid I slept under a trophy mount Northern Pike caught at Wollaston Lake Lodge by my dad in the 2000's. He ran out of the room in the basement and my room was the next option. I wonder if you were the guide lol.
Hopefully you bought one the Mountain House's Beef Stroganoff. One of the best freeze dried meals on the market. No matter how long a person has fished on the ice, shifting ice always has pucker power lol.
Omeals is also a great dehydrated food brand, they cook themselves in its own bag with minimal water kinda like an mre and comes with a spork and eveything, great for fishing or hunting
Mountain house chicken and rice is my favorite by far… nice for long days on the ice to warm a guy up. Also a favorite is hot coco on the ice in the jet boil. It’s the little things :)
Hey Clayton, I used dehydrated/freeze dried meals quite a bit last year on the ice. Here are a couple brands to check out that I think are very good: Peak Refuel, Stowaway Gourmet and Ghastro Gnome Meals. The biscuits and gravy is awesome from Peak Refuel. Also take along some small tortillas and hot sauce and give the breakfast skillet a try. Enjoy!

Clayton, princess auto has in their flyer that i just got a camping wood stove. Might want to check it out, not sure how you'd run the chimney out though.
MRE's are the way to go, light to pack and you can have them for breakfast lunch and dinner. Been using them hunting and ice fishing for the last couple of years, keep up the great videos Clayton.
You keep talking about the propane issues. Last year we tried out the diesel fuel heaters for over night. No more voice or sore throat. Game changer. Look into them. Easy set up and they get warm. Only issue we had was diesel likes to gel. So you got to keep it warmer. We keep our buddy heaters for day trips but any over night bring on the diesel.
Clayton! If you didn't mind Mountain House, you gotta try Peak Refuel brand so good! The breakfast skillet is so good, would be awesome for you mornings in the tent!
