My first credit card was a Macys card. I was asked if I wanted to apply when I bought a coat I wanted (Cielo Vista Mall El Paso) I still have my Macy's card.
My problem with Macy’s is that they overexpanded too fast and I don’t think they know how to handle all of their stores. Most locations are pretty outdated and low staffed in addition to bad merchandising. Their products are hit and miss, but generally pretty decent. It’s just you never know what you’re going to get with Macy’s. It really varies by location. In my opinion, they should focus on completely renovating their stores and looking at what made department stores so popular back in the 70s 80s and 90s. Great service and attractive merchandise are what brings people in. I just compare Macy’s to great department stores such as Von Maur, and Dillard‘s that seem to have much better stores!
I like your content. Could you travel to Burnsville, MN and tour the DEAD and lifeless mall called Burnsville Center. It's eerie in there, but still open. Not too many stores left but still has B&BW and Victoria's Secret/Pink. I'd be interested to know your thoughts on this. Also, check out the total 80's food court area. In its time I'm sure it was the totally cool spot to hang out after school. It's been years since I had been to this mall, but I went last week. I've just never seen anything like it. Could you do a video on this mall?
Really I always thought that was a thriving area and other than Sears that mall still has all of it's anchors occupied. That's pretty unusual for a mall to have 3 out of 4 anchors and it be dying.
@@dvferyanceBurnsville Center has been struggling for years, sadly to say. CBL used to be the owner, but sold it to one of the slumlords(either Namdar or Kohan). Unfortunately, I have my doubts this mall will hang on long term, and it struggles with too many years vacancies. It's too bad, since I like its inside design.
@@BoratWanksta it's in a thriving area that's too bad no reason it should be struggling. The one mall in the twin cities area I would be ok with closing is southdale since it's close to moa.
JCPenney in fairness, still has a lot of stores. Plus made it through bankruptcy, after a buyout by both Simon and Brookfield(2 mall operators). Macy's has just announced 150 store closings, so I think it'll soon be closing a lot of stores down. Probably will be slightly more than that which eventually will close, if I have to guess. And they announced eventually closing their San Francisco flagship store in a year or 2, once they can sell off the building this store operates inside of.

I think the majority of those tired and hopelessly outdated Macy's stores will be cut between 2025 and 2026 while updating the rest.

That area is on my list to visit for the channel!
