Perfect...going to do this to my Precision fishing kayak. LOVE IT...3 years later after your post.
I have that same yak. You’re exactly right on how uncomfortable they are. Thanks, working out great!
Awesome thank you 🫡 nice improvising raising the back rest.
I appreciate you making this vid. I purposefully bought THE cheapest highest reviewed kayak because I noticed THEY’RE ALL THE SAME KAYAKS JUST WITH DIFFERENT PAINT JOBS AND LABELS SLAPPED ONTO THEM!!! Duh! I think I have the same one as zaffinger. So having this will help this girl fish in luxury! Thank u!!!
So many things look easy in a video but don't really fit your particular situation. This is a perfect solution for my problem. My problem is no budget and a real desire to kayak fish. In my mind the seat is the greatest drawback to using an inexpensive boat to fish in. This is a great solution, simple and cost effective (I got a used stadium seat at a yard sale for $2.). Thanks for posting this video. It was exactly what I needed. a few inches of height are the difference between an awkward uncomfortable outing and a great fishing trip.
But didn't it add a lot of instability?
Thanks Kid. Good idea. You also addressed my question about stability of the Kayak not designed for a high seat.
I have three kayaks and one I bought used that someone had put a stadium seat on, it makes such a huge difference. It is probably the first thing any kayak owner should do
Hey man that's a good idea i bought one today and wasn't expecting it to be as wide as it was, great math skills he he was going to return it and then I came across this and thanks for the video
Nice Notes! I'm working on improving my SunDolphin 10' Bali for fishin - and I love your use of at-hand materials! I want a higher seat (Not "graceful" getting into and out of the low seat now!) If I can't make my at-hand old boat seat work, I will try this type stadium seat - Thanks !
Cheap simple mod - I like it! ;)
Followed your idea for the stadium seat. Worked just as you said it would. Thank you!
Simple and easy to do. Great video, Thanks for sharing
Great. Cool idea. Gonna four on my Malibu 2 XL
I need to do an upgrade for fishing. I have the 100 bandit. Thanks for the video. Cheers from Dallas,TX.
Awesome idea my friend cool 👍👍👍👍👍
Really ingenious! Thanks for sharing. Just bought my first kayak and took it out yesterday (Ocean Kayak 11' Caper). Was immediately disappointed in the cheap-ass seat. This for sure is the way to go
TexasRiggedRyan, thanks for a very informative video. I've ordered a stadium seat like the one your video shows. It comes Thursday. I'll be using your video for an installation instruction guide.
thanks mate done it using a beach chair looks great but havnt been out weather suxs
Nice video man. Short, sweet, and to the point. Love the design, might steal it :D
904 Fishing Florida thank you. Feel free to steal it!
Awesome work mate
Good video, I've been looking into getting a stadium seat, just want to find the right one
What brand was the seat and where to buy one? Great video
@TexasRiggedRyan
Just got into the kayaking thing man, my wife and I just found a deal on a Lifetime Kokanee Tandem and I used your mod to make 2 seats for about $40 🤘🤘
I'll see if I can post a video, most of my stuff is gaming, but I'll shout you out for the AWESOME idea bro💥💯🤘
I have a Lifetime Kokanee Tandem as well and would love to see your video. What stadium seats did you find to fit this wider kayak?
I bought my first yak pelican sentinel angler. I'm deff lookin for a stadium seat this weekend
I made a video how I mounted my stadium seat PELICAN SENTINEL STADIUM SEAT
I'm gonna buy that same seat today... 17 bucks at a local shop. Ready to fish!
What seat is it?
it doesnt flip back when you lean back?
vbvini no, the weight of your legs doesn’t really allow it to. I can lean back and grab stuff underneath without any hesitation or fear of falling back
Doesn't the elevated seat change the center of gravity to where it's easier to roll/flip the kayak? Just curious? I am trying to do the same thing, but I was told I shouldn't be doing it? Thanks
I was really worried that but after testing it on the water I did not notice a difference at all. That being said, it may vary on different kayaks depending on width and Hull design. I’m still using the same setup to this day with great results. Hope this helps
@@texasriggedryan775 awesome. Roger that. I just got the Lifetime Tamarack Angler 100. I got the idea from another guy to use the Cascade Stadium seat... fits perfectly inside the cut of the kayak. Only increases about 1.5" by the time you sit in it!
@@OfficeofthePacific just got myself the same kayak, I’m looking to upgrade the seat as well. Any advice?
I ended up getting a boat seat and adding PVC pipe to the bottom of it to fit into the kayak which was good in the beginning but it now makes noise. Looking at doing your setup now. How is the noise on this setup out on the lake when it's quiet?
Anthony Tyler no noise at all
Dose it affect the stability of the kayak
Zip ties may not work for you. The ties I used are 75lb tensil strength. I weigh 180lb and have broken maybe 3. They are cheap and easy to replace and I can even replace them on the water. If you are heavier than that, I would use heavy duty zip ties or maybe find another method. I hope you all find some use in this video and it can give you a direction to go in. Thanks for the views, likes and subs. They are always appreciated and if you have any questions feel free to ask!! Thank yall
Doesn’t the seat slide and move around this way while you’re paddling?
Not when your sitting in it but make sure the zip ties are tight
Good video, short sweet and to the point. Whats the brand of seat?

Think this could hold up surf fishing?
That’s a great question. I have not had the opportunity to try it in the surf but if I did I wouldn’t use zip ties, I’d probably use maybe some metal wire/cable
@@texasriggedryan775 They make stainless steel zip ties.
What seat is it?

It's not your height that affects center of gravity it's your weight. He ways 180, that's why he didn't feel a difference. I weigh 250. I did this and went straight into the drink and lost a good pole.
Sounds like you might need to go on a diet my man
It depends on the width of your kayak a lot also.. A wider kayak can handle a higher seat better than a narrower kayak..
sounds dangerous...the back frame of the seat will gouge into the kayak..plus harder to paddle..
