  • The King Who Ruled Humans, Jinn, and Wind - The True Story of Prophet Sulaiman (AS)
The story of Prophet Sulaiman (AS) is one of the most extraordinary stories ever recorded in human history. He was not only a prophet of Allah, but also a king whose kingdom was unlike anything the world had ever seen. Allah granted him powers and blessings that were never given to any other ruler before him or after him.
In the Holy Quran, Allah tells us that Prophet Sulaiman (AS), the son of Prophet Dawood (AS), was given authority over humans, jinn, animals, and even the wind itself. His army was unlike any army the world had ever witnessed. It consisted of men, birds, wild beasts, and powerful jinn, all organized under his command by the permission of Allah.
The jinn built magnificent structures for him, including great sanctuaries, palaces, massive basins, and enormous cauldrons. They dived into the depths of the oceans to retrieve precious treasures and extracted metals from the earth. The Quran even mentions rivers of molten copper flowing for him, something unimaginable in the ancient world.
But despite having such incredible power and wealth, Prophet Sulaiman (AS) remained a humble servant of Allah. Whenever he witnessed a miracle or blessing, his first response was gratitude. The Quran records him saying: “This is from the grace of my Lord to test me whether I will be grateful or ungrateful.”
One of the most fascinating events in his life was the story of Queen Bilqis of Saba. When the Hoopoe bird informed Prophet Sulaiman (AS) about a powerful kingdom in Yemen ruled by a queen who worshipped the sun, he sent her a message inviting her to submit to Allah. What happened next became one of the most astonishing miracles mentioned in the Quran.
Before Queen Bilqis even arrived at his palace, her magnificent throne was transported across thousands of kilometers in the blink of an eye by the permission of Allah. When she finally entered his palace and saw the wonders of his kingdom, including the famous crystal floor that looked like water, she realized that this was not the work of an ordinary king.
At that moment, Queen Bilqis declared her faith and said:
"My Lord, I have wronged myself, and I submit with Sulaiman to Allah, Lord of the worlds."
Yet the life of Prophet Sulaiman (AS) also teaches us a profound lesson about power and humility. Despite ruling one of the greatest kingdoms in history, he remained devoted to worship and constantly turned back to Allah.
The end of his life contains one of the most powerful lessons in the Quran. When Prophet Sulaiman (AS) passed away while leaning on his staff, the jinn continued working for a long time because they believed he was still watching them. It was only when a tiny termite ate through the staff and his body fell that the jinn realized the truth.
This event proved something crucial: the jinn do not know the unseen. Only Allah has knowledge of the unseen.
The story of Prophet Sulaiman (AS) reminds us that true power does not come from wealth, armies, or influence. It comes from faith, gratitude, and obedience to Allah.
