I honestly loved the design. It seems almost like Dabi had wanted to be a hero, but the world was too corrupt for him to stay sane. There were a lot of aspects that are also present in his villain attire almost as if it was homage to a dream that went down the drain.

I agree with you so much... there’s nothing much about dabi’s past but it seems like they’re trying to change endeavor and make him look more like a good person than they had done before. like, his story was made VERY clear in season 2 and now it seems like they’re making it look like rei also wanted more children and that he was good before.
bc if this were the case I’d get super disappointed and it’d probably offend many others... there are so many people that have suffered from domestic violence and trying to make endeavor look better will not fix it.
also, I think that even though dabi was envious before or had psychological problems, he was a kid that didn’t receive the attention he needed. people with mental illnesses deserve attention, love and care. the fact that he ended up dying the way he did (burn to death) just shows how much neglect him and his siblings suffered and that no one was there to prevent this from happening.

Exactly! I'm actually fine with the Enji redemption thing that's happening in the manga because it does give Enji more nuance as a character and I personally enjoy that!
BUT oh my Hori DON'T justify or downplay and white-wash the things that Enji has done to his family before his dream of becoming #1 hero finally became a reality and so he's finally looking back and reflecting!
Personally, I think it would be much better (and more interesting) if on the one hand Enji has indeed realized his past mistakes and is earnestly trying to atone for what he has done (basically what's happening in the manga right now) while on the other hand, we as audience see that (in flashbacks or whatever) he was unquestionably a horrible father as well as husband. And that he was really really really abusing Touya psychologically as well as physically indirectly because Touya couldn't handle his own quirk but Enji was just too ego-blinded to accept that before Shoto came around. But then Touya just got treated like a garbage despite the "hardworks" , "trainings" and "attentions" Enji put him through. And as someone who has experienced parental abuse myself, I get that Touya, despite the fact that he was abused by Enji, could have genuinely looked up to Enji when he's little and constantly tried to please his father by "working hard" and "pushing" himself.
Getting stuck between either being "abused physically" (training) or being a "failure" is enough to drive a child crazy. (Life is not "either-or" I get it, but for a child living in an abusive environment it very well could be)
This way, at least both sides (Enji and Touya, heroes and villains) are somewhat equally 'valid' in their stances and we can finally get some real moral ambiguity that everyone craves for in My Hero Academia
Anyway, this is all just my personal opinion so pls don't take them too seriously. Thank you for reading~

Wrong. Endeavor literally tossed away Touya like a used toy once Shoto was born. Touya was practically the forgotten sibling, and considering he's shown a history of mental illnesses as well, then that should be self explanatory enough as to why he lashed out.
Plus, are we gonna forget about the recent panel of Enji beating Rei in front of the kids while they're crying? Yeah, father of the year material right there

I had to come back here after chapter 290. I expected that (we all did) but I am still devastated. Such a tragic story, a life filled with all sorts of pain, and yet it seems there is no hope for a good ending for him either. That dance was probably one of the very rare happy moments for him T_T

I love dabi, I really do, he's my favorite villain in the entire show but I can't shake off the feeling he will get killed, it's harsh but I feel like it will probably happen at the end of the show, it's honestly kinda upsetting, but if that DOES happen at least we have fanfictions there to save us ;)

I am so glad this popped up in my recommended because it's literally the best Dabi animatic I've seen. This is visually stunning, incredibly detailed, and your storytelling is so, so interesting. Every single shot of him being abused as a kid hurt so much to see and you portrayed his descent into madness perfectly. I actually gasped when he saw (what I assume was a vision of his family) and burned them, like it makes total sense that he would be so far from sanity now that he would lump any remnant of his past life in with Endeavor. I just really, really love this and can't wait tosee more from you!
He is really broken because of endeavor. Shoto that would have been the same.

i have some things to say, that i noted
some are questions
some are random stuff
so
- at 2:36 , why is Dabi running back? i know at the time it wasn’t know he was a todoroki 100%, but there was no evidence that he wanted to go back, is it a personal headcanon?
- at 2:54 , OMG STAIN- i remember when Dabi’s hair decision was speculated to have been because of Stain, and it makes sense, but i think its more because his original hair color is white(black and white are opposites), even so i like to believe that there was also Stain involved in the decision of the hair color
- at 2:58 [ and 0:50 , but with Touya’s shrina and Dabi behind it ] , ‘and if we are to reincarnate? or if we aren’t to?’ makes sense with the scene, Dabi holding down white hair..
i feel it symbolises how he kinda did get reincarnated, but in a weird way. Touya and Dabi aren’t the same, they have the ‘same’ body (not really, i won’t explain why but uhhhh- the answer is in the chapter where there’s the flashback in the hospital) and all, BUT Touya and Dabi can be separated into two different people;
Touya was a kid who wanted to surpass All Might out of his father’s conditioning, but he wanted his father to look at him even more then that
Dabi is a person who wants to end Endeavour out of anger, and has lost his mind
the descriptions are the same format (goal - reason of goal - smt else related to the goal/about goals)
what would’ve happened if he wasn’t so and so ‘reincarnated’?
- 3:02 would happen, which first off was a cruel move, my heart couldn’t handle that the first time i watched this, be my friend please
and second off if he wasn’t reincarnated and all, he would’ve likely become a hero
- at 0:45 , ‘What on earth did you mean, Da Vinci?!’ i feel as if this would be towards Endeavour, because he wanted the perfect child, shoto was his masterpiece

And i think Dabi never understood why Endeavour didn’t want him to train, so thru anger, he’s Da Vinci, a famous artists
- at 1:05 to 1:19 , some people tend to take it a bit jokishly, since Dabi seems to compare himself to god, but he’s not
its sadly a thing i think is true, the whole ‘week to form the earth’ thing makes sense because it was quick and hurried, not planned
and humanity is fucked, things copy and paste over and over.
