      If you were going to build this as an overhead cabinet in an rv (picture your cabinet set sideways and mounted head height) what would you use to attach each piece?

    It was a little flimsier than I expected. I had to add a 2x2 piece of wood to the bottom on the rear side in order to stabilize it better ruclips.net/user/postUgkxXTh-lz-8W6GcB219vTLp27-MxbZYObBX . It is also starting to bow a little at the outer wall ( I've had it up for about 6 months), I've already had a shelf tumble down because of the bow and the fact that the little shelf brackets are quite short. I went out to home depot and got some longer ones so that the shelves don't tumble down again. Overall, it looks very nice for the price and it holds a lot ( I use it as a pantry). I am very satisfied with my purchase. I just strongly suggest reinforcing it before putting it up.

    This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection ruclips.net/user/postUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seems to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

    One of the best things about your videos lately is how they show that you can do impressively fine work with an inexpensive circ saw bolted to a piece of plywood. Showed your videos to a friend who checks his saw weekly with a Starret machinist level and who sets every cut with dial indicators and a surface plate. He twitched noticeably.

    I build this exact same style corner cabinet for my bottom and upper cabinet (but it didnt sit on the counter) and my wife loved them so much I built another that went on the counter in the corner a little smaller than the upper and painted. Looks awesome and VERY functional. One thing I did on my bottom cabinet was I built a "false side" so when you open the door, there is an extra side 2 inches from the actual side so my wife can stand up her large cookie/pizza sheets. And I made my shelves adjustable because I hate non-adjustable shelves. lol

    Your kitchen looks amazing and has a lot of great ideas for functionality! I'm going to borrow some of those ideas on my next kitchen. Especially the bread drawer. We leave our bread on top of the toaster oven and every so often someone forgets to move it before using the toaster oven... I think the bread drawer might be a better way.

    • @IBuildItHome
      @IBuildItHome  6 лет назад +2

      I've moved the bread out of that drawer, actually, since I too often forgot it was in there. It's now on the middle shelf in the cabinet above the toaster - easier to remember and closer to the action.

    I've been building my own base cabinets this month. I'm using rudimentary tools, just a circular saw, a table saw, an orbital sander, a drill (and one extravegance: a kreg pocket hole jig). This week I'm going to start building the upper cabinets and I wanted to check out your build first. I'll start with building two, 36" corner cabinets and fill the spaces between with various widths to fill betwwen windows, the range hood, etc. I've been using wood glue but may switch up to PL Premium for some joints (even though Kreg fasteners usually don't recommend glue). I'm not going to make any face frames until the end. I wonder if that's a mistake? Also, you are very brave to allow PL Premium onto your bare skin; I usually have to wear that stuff off over several days ha ha Thanks for the detailed video!

    excellent video my friend one of the best i have seen and so well explained.. i need to do base and upper cabinets in my mobile home... what do you recommend for inexpensive wood... i found a guy with a bunch of maple doors and drawers that just need the framework so i was going to build for those and make life less stressful and expensive for me.... i was thinking birch maybe... i just have a small L shape and a counter top will need to go on top of base cabinets of course..im basically going to tear out the old base stuff after taking full measures and just rebuild it with better quality materials as i will only be in this home another yr or two tops.. and i wont be able to sell for much so i am tryign to do all this stuff as cheap and efficient as possible.. thanks for your time and great videos
