- Duncan Sheik, in tow with keyboardist Jason Hart and percussionist Doug Yowell, took time out of his tour Suzanne Vega to stop by the AG offices and perform three songs off his latest electro-acoustic album Legerdemain.
Watch the singer-songwriter-who first garnered attention for his 1996 Billboard charting debut single “Barely Breathing”-play “Summer Morning,” “Half a Room,” and “Selling Out.”
In between songs, Sheik talks about a visit to Venice’s La Biennale, offers some self-reflection on society and himself, and ouroboros-snakes that eat their tail, an ancient symbol that is often associated with the re-creation of oneself..
Ah. Yes. Here’s the seasoned grown man who’s matured and even more soulful. Imperfect. As is life. His musical authenticity is truly refreshing.
He looks like a high school principal now, but he still has his rock star voice.

Some artists gain musicality as they age. Duncan Sheik has always been amazing but the depth of his expression has increased tenfold. Genius in my books not least on account of his harmonic/melodic/lyrical gift.
This is a wonderful artist. There is something so soothing in his voice and such a craft n his work. One of the most underrated artists in the history of music.
