    Joey is strong as hell. He lost his legs and the ability to play, and got fired from the band he helped pioneered and treated like it was his baby, then BEAT the disease and still doesn’t have a single bad thing to say about the guys in Slipknot. We all need to be a lil bit more like Joey lol

    I was asked once if I had a bucket list what would be on it. So I wrote it out. #2 on the list was to meet Joey Jordison. #3 was to get a tattoo - and for it to have profound meaning. Three weeks later I crossed paths with Joey Jordison in West Des Moines, Iowa while shopping with my girls. I spent close to 40 minutes talking to this metal god. And Joey... he is the real deal. Hands down a very cool cat and was very cordial to my girls and I. Our conversation ended as he put it "whenever YOU want it." In that moment I was able to tell Joey what his music meant to me while going thru a divorce a custody battle. I told him ... "while the train was going off the track... you're music was right there beside me as we all went over the cliff." He smiled and then teared up. I recall him saying, "If that's what our music does and did, then all of this - has been worth every fucking second." Hands down one of the coolest legends to have ever met. He signed my arm and the next day I got it inked. Dreams... no matter how big or small can come true. Joey is living proof of this.

I also have Clown and Corey's signatures tatted on my other arm. Send me your personal email address and Ill email you the picture. I just met Jay and Clown (again) in Des Moines at their show with Marilyn and Of Mice and Men. Thanks for believing Jason. I get no payoff in mentioning I have a tatt of Joey's signature. Its something cool to me what it means to others I could truly care less. Either way its obvious you two love Slipknot and with that, its all good.

      They really don't. He was a good match for them, but in no way was he not replaceable. There are many drummers who are more than capable. Hell, I could play for Slipknot relatively easily, but who the fuck am I. I'm just saying, they found someone else who is also perfectly capable and plays the songs well. They don't NEED Joey Jordison. Not saying that to be a dick, either. Just being realistic. I use to idolize Jordison before I discovered much more brutal bands and drummers out there. It was a hard pill to swallow, but as it turns out, he was never all that great to begin with. He was just a great match with Slipknot stylistically. Jay is doing a great job of filling that role.

    • @AtlasZero13
      @AtlasZero13 8 лет назад +7

      for sure there's tons of drummers out there that beat him in skill speed and precision, drummer from necrophagist, severed Savior ect. but stylistically the way he meshed with the raw, dark, grimy music in the 90's that was slipknot. how does anyone expect a kid like Jay to replicate that? not taking away anything from him. he obviously comes from a line of great drummers, just think that's where joey belongs is all

    • @TheJokesterSCR
      @TheJokesterSCR 8 лет назад +1

      AtlasZero13 I don't completely disagree, because Jordison was great for their style. However, I liked the drumming on The Grey Chapter. It was very similar in styles. Perhaps he didn't really write the drums for that album, though. So who knows. I believe SK can go on without him, is all I'm saying. I'd rather he was in, though.

    • @sasca854
      @sasca854 8 лет назад +1

      Ehh, Jay is playing at a higher level live than Joey is/was. I understand that Joey had a motor function disease that has hindered his playing, but all the same...

    • @janmeister1991
      @janmeister1991 7 лет назад +5

      I have to say that no one can ever replicate all that he have done, his achievements, his remarkable style, the charisma to the fans and the way he carry himself on the stage. He's so talented that he did also written songs and play different instruments with some of other bands. We already know there's so much he can bring to the table but maybe there's also lots of individual we see that can match his skills particularly on drums but definitely not in our hearts anyways, just in our minds. He really deserves to be recognized. He's the real deal guys, he is/was lit.

      Joey didn't give us a true reason about why he was fired.

    • @HalendleofLoc
      @HalendleofLoc 8 лет назад +3

      Actually he has now, the condition he has is apparently most often caused by excessive cocaine use so the band fired him both because they thought he was on drugs and because of his inability to play at the time. The reason Joey was so pissed about it at the time was because they fired him over email because they didn't want to say it to his face. It sounds like there aren't any hard feelings on either side anymore and Joey's said he'd be open to discussing rejoining the band but I don't think they'd be harsh enough to boot Jay to bring him back in. Guess we'll have to see how things go between them now that Joey's shed light on everything.

    I'm a fan from Asia, I fell in love with Joey because his amazing talent when I was a 13 year old girl and he is absolutely my favorite musician. Their music got me and my friends thru for so many years and it meant a lot for me. But after my teenager years, I started to listen to some other stuff, and eventually lost track with them. Recently I don't know what reason I suddenly miss him and the music I was listening from 10 years ago. And I found out Joey is no longer with Slipknot no more and he has gone thru a lot of shit.
    I hope Joey can lose some weight(mainly for health reasons), I think we shouldn't judge him for "aging" or getting fat, I think he had gone thru a very hard period, a lot of things we cannot even imagine, and eating sometimes kills depression, I'm sure he will get back his shape someday(like Jonathan Davis did), let's give Joey some time and . I just want to say as an old fan, I will support Joey no matter what, as long as he lives his life happily.
    Slipknot was my favorite band, but now they can go fuck themselves, I really don't care anymore. Joey got me liking the band, but without Joey Slipknot is nothing for me. And I just can't believe they did it, Joey was the the one that writes most of the songs for god sake. I believe Joey was ill at that time, I don't think he is that kind of asshole that would abuse the drugs and let his teammates down. Even if was in that case, Joey had been with the band for 18 years, if he actually had a serious drug problem(and that's a big if), I can't believe those members didn't bother to look after him as friends, that would have been the decent thing to do but instead they fired him via email cuz whatever the shitty reasons were.
    Anyway, Joey you got this, you will always have my support, all the best to you!

After leaving something so huge I think you can understand why they just haven't talked in a long time. It's not like the guys in SK don't want to talk to him, Corey even said he would love to be his friend and talk to him. Things change and you sometimes just gotta go with the flow ~

      Well, Joey himself back in the day said almost clearly that he was fired by the band against his will. Of course, everybody knows that behind this decision is Clown at most, as he is the one directing the whole band's movements and decisions in general. If they wanted to wait for him, they could have just stated that "Due to health reasons, or something like that, Joey is going on hiatus, until he has fully recovered and return back in action". Joey was one of the three original members back in 1995, along with Clown and Paul and I think deserved some more respect. But hell no, just toss him out of the band and replace him with some random 20-year-old lad. I rest my case.

      We don't know if his health issues are the real reason why he was fired from the band so I wouldn't be so confident about things which you say if I were you.

      +Jakaś Nazwa exactly. I can imagine when you have as much money and fame as he does and get some bad health news alongside the death of your best mate then it would be quite easy to go off the deep end

    Such a genuinely humble and inspirational human being, with an excess of talent that is simply unmatched. Beats the shit out of paralysis like he's beating a Pearl kit . . . the guy could still bust most drummers' asses without the use of his legs . . . fucking amazing. Can't comprehend the level of determination and persistence it took for him to work through that shit. Keep fighting Joey; much love and respect to you and your family.
