    I think a lot of people are sleeping on instant mana leech. In a lot of scenarios you'll be able to solve mana with just a handful of points on the tree now. And perhaps with some specific setups and skills that hit A LOT with each cast you may also be able to sustain stuff like indigon + battlemage's cry

    • @sergeantminor256
      @sergeantminor256  Год назад +6

      I agree! I think people just aren't used to the idea of playing attack builds with mana scaling. Perhaps Manaforged Arrows will change that a bit. I'm hoping Mind of the Council makes its way into the meta this league. I really like that item.
      Even on builds that don't care about mana scaling, 1% mana per hit is pretty nice. That's worth about as much as an Elreon mod to a lot of typical attack builds. For stuff like Molten Strike and Blade Flurry it's even better.

    • @sergeantminor256
      @sergeantminor256  Год назад +6

      To add to what I said, I think a lot of people are going to discover the power of instant mana leech purely by accident. They'll take the instant leech mastery because of the life recovery and then notice that their mana is topping off a lot more easily than before. Give it some time and I'm sure their gears will start turning.

    • @loobkoob
      @loobkoob Год назад +1

      @@sergeantminor256 I don't think Mind Of The Council works too well with Manaforged Arrows, does it? Since they changed it a few leagues back so that you "lose" 3% of your mana on skill use rather than "spending" 3% of your mana, meaning you won't really have a way to scale up your mana costs if you use it. It's still obviously synergistic with large mana pool attack builds in general, but it won't be able to enable the more Manaforged Arrows multiplier, I don't think.
      Unfortunately, I think Indigon might be the ONLY way to scale up Manaforged Arrows' cost to any particularly relevant level - attacks don't really have many avenues of increasing their mana cost that much.

    • @DrunkGeko
      @DrunkGeko Год назад +1

      @@sergeantminor256 Also i was thinking how one can skip out on the battlemage's cry and still use indigon+leech and the only idea i came up with is tornado. Is an attack that hits a lot and can scale with spell damage (of the proj you shoot into it) but it sounds absurdly clunky

    Claw mastery gives 10% of leech is instant leech per equipped claw, but it doesn’t matter if you are leeching with the claw or not. So you can use the mastery on a spell caster, something trickster is good at, as long as you have claws equipped.
    In hindsight, it seems that the primary use case for instant leech has turned out to be minimal investment to sustain things like CoC mana cost and to supplement life or ES recovery, rather than be a main feature. Having recovery dependent upon hitting, and leeching, is slightly more conditional that would be ideal for a player in a scenario in which they need the recovery… usually. It also lets you face tank the shaper beam, so there’s that.

  • @juuuuuuug01

    Ive started playing an int stack HOWA trickster molten strike as my second build and the instant leech is just fantastic, when combined with the normal leech my recovery lets me easily tank anything that doesnt oneshot me through my 60k evasion and capped suppression. One cool interaction that makes the build come into place is the buffed Shavronne's Revelation, which gives a fat chunk of ES and int with no downsides thanks to ghost reaver. Only issue is DPS, but I already killed ubers on a very suboptimal setup and I think I can scale it much higher.

    come to think of it, you could use this interaction with a howa vengeant cascade molten strike build with souldrinker and essence reaver to maximize ES gain per hit w/ leech effects. After that, spread down to grab flask nodes to theoretically have flask effects w/ charges gained on hit and CI maybe..?

    • @sergeantminor256
      @sergeantminor256  Год назад

      Would you do enough damage per hit (and get enough % leech) to leech 14% of max ES from each instance? Also, you'd want to make sure your mitigation layers are good enough. Just HP and recovery isn't enough. You want mitigation to get more mileage out of the recovery.

    • @quack3891
      @quack3891 Год назад

      @@sergeantminor256 true, I was thinking from the aspect of blast rain coc where there's an assload of hits, but unfortunately the initial damage of the hit isn't a lot. So the next best idea is a projectile hit scale so we can scale something like longshot (or whatever the no movement one is) and I remembered that vengeant cascade ms exists, which when used as an on-hit damage, might be enough to scale using something like trickster. Not necessarily to maximize the amount of ES per instance, but to look to get enough out of the hits themselves.
      I was thinking that a probable extension might be to use trickster with CI, then exchanging it with some quick mitigation buffer like a incandescent heart as well as some other ideas with gain charge on hit with flasks so we can get a bunch of elemental resistance. The only issue is damage to scale our ES on hit, but I'm unsure of how well it is because of my inexperience with HoWA scaling and how well it really is recently. Another idea I had was Varunastra since I remembered recently you can double stack #% damage from cluster jewels, which could theoretically help fix the needed damage, but the league start so far has been rough so it's left to be a test for better times.

The plan is for CI, so no life at all. Please, clarify that, cuz I do not found explanation anywhere in your vids for leech, regarding this particular case, with Trixter + Ghost Reaver + Vaal Pact for CI ES Leech build. The Trickster passive only matters for non-instant leech anyway, so there's no reason you should feel pressured to go Trickster if you're building around instant leech. If your instant leech is strong enough, you probably won't need the persistent healing from Trickster.

      No, it does not. You are correct. It increases the amount of leech that can be granted by _each_ leech instance. Since the base value is 10%, increasing it by 40% makes it 14%. Those leech instances will still recover at a rate of 2% per second, and the sum of all of those 2%'s is then multiplied by "increased total recovery per second" before being subject to "maximum total recovery per second" (whose base value is 20%).

      @@hentaimage95 My mistake. With the masteries, it's 3% (30% of 10%). For some reason I was accounting for other sources of instant mana leech that are now legacy (e.g. legacy Atziri's Acuity).
      Speccing into "maximum total mana recovery per second from leech" will unfortunately not help for instant leech. Let me try to explain:
      1. The maximum amount of mana a leech instance can attempt to provide is 10% (a.k.a. "maximum recovery per mana leech").
      2. 30% of leech being instant means 3% of max mana instantly and 7% over time.
      3. The 7% of mana over time occurs at 2% per second (3.5 seconds).
      4. All of the instances of 2% per second are added together. Let's say you have 11 concurrent instances. That's 22% per second.
      5. The 22% of mana per second is modified by "increased total recovery per second from mana leech." If you have 50% increased, the 22% becomes 33%.
      6. The "maximum total mana recovery per second from leech" cap is applied to the 33%. The base value is 20% per second. If you have 25% increased, that's 25% per second, so the 33% gets capped at 25%.
      Notice that nothing after step 2 affects instant leech. That's because any stats that specifically have "per second" in them only affect recovery over time and not instant recovery. In order to increase the 3% instant leech, you need "increased maximum recovery per mana leech," which to my knowledge does not exist anywhere in PoE (yet).
