As musicians, Love Bites are spectacular. But yeah, I totally agree that the vocalist isn't quite as good as she could be. Her range is a bit limited.
But yes, she actually sings in English, however her thick Japanese accent and even speaking style restricts her enunciation with the English lyrics.
If you've been exposed to Band-Maid, another Japanese all female band, if that vocalist could sing for Love Bites, they'd have an excellent band all around.

The "Five of a Kind" theme emphasizes their "ensemble" perspective. The lyrics to their song "When Destinies Align" is all about their unique bond and unity of purpose. Their undeniable individual talents are in service of a 'higher' common goal. They definitely share the stage, 'spotlight' included, and all are equally worthy of that spotlight.
Great reaction. That FOAK means "Five of a Kind" the name of their DVD released this year from a concert that was back in Feb 2020. All of their songs are sung in English, but still have a tough time with their pronunciations. As you mentioned, they are musicians. The members: Asami (vocals) comes from an R/B background, Miho (Bass), Haruna (drums) who is a total demon on those drums, and the dynamic duo Midori (Blond guitarist) and Miyako (Black hair guitarist). This band is really diverse in their music and play all sorts of metal, as you have seen one of their thrash songs. You should check out this other live song called "Holy War". The Japanese have a unique English pronunciation because the Japanese have a language system for pronouncing foreign words as Japanese (it's called "katakana"). Katakana pronunciation of English is difficult to hear from native English speakers.

Asami (Lead Vocals) sings in English but some words can be difficult to understand as there is still a heavy Japanese accent present.
Holy War (Live) is a great song and will blow your mind! Hope you check them out again in the future.

LOVEBITES has several songs that reference Japan's unique experience of the devastation of atomic weapons attacks. It is very real in their consciousness. They face up to 'devastating' experiences openly. "The Hammer of Wrath" was their show opener for their 2018 tour in connection with the Metal Hammer Golden Gods Award for "Best New Band".
(I also thought the first verse fit with choosing in the 2020 USA Presidential election!?)
Concerning "God" the song "Bravehearted" includes the line "It's up to you to be your God" and I've read no other lyrics that dispute that stance, though the 'term' is used occasionally to invoke personal responsibility.
The song is about what eternity one will choose.

There are 2 main reasons why they dress they way they do on stage:
1. So they can be seen. Most metal shows, especially with those who are metal purists, are used to seeing everything and everyone in black or similar. That's hard to do with ladies from Japan, in which the shortest one in the band (Haruna, the drummer) is 4'8. So how are they going to be seen? They dress in white, so they can be seen.
2. To the metal purist, those on stage have to be either just as dirty, tattooed up, or as sleazy or trashy as the guys are. Well, they ask a simple question: Why? And got no answer. So why can't they dress classy or dress up nice, and still be metal? So they do. And it fits their name as well: LoveBites.
Besides.. it wasn't their looks that got them Metal Hammer's Best new metal band in 2018, let alone locked them as one of the opening bands for Iron Maiden's farewell tour. ;)

I dont think being a metal purist has anything to do with wearing black. I've been in band for last the 7 years and I've played a lot of shows and have toured and I've seen a lot people where a variety of different clothes. I think having a mindset like that can hurt things and cause unwanted backlash. Most of the men in my scene I wouldn't consider sleezy either because they have tattoos. Most of the men in my metal scene are some of kindest and nicest men I know who would give you their shirt off their back. Im sorry you have such a low view of metal
She sings in English however it’s not her first language so she has a tertiary understanding of pronunciation. Therefore her words and phrases tend to hit the ears with that Japanese tilt.
I agree with all the recommendations below, but would add that to appreciate the talents of the vocalist Asami, I feel she really flies on their mid-tempo songs - all best enjoyed live, of course! There's 'Empty Daydream' for a power ballad where she makes the most of her R & B background (with bonus keyboard shredding by Miyako) or 'Dancing with the Devil' for 80s style metal.
I will deffinitely have to check out more of their music they seem to really be a bit and super freaking talented!! Thank you for checking out the video!
Hey thanks for checking them out! Asami does sing in English in every song but she has a thick accent as you saw. I will suggest you take a look at Holy War, Thunder Vengeance, Swan Song all live and from the same show. (FOAK is the DVD where this is from, Five of a Kind).

(lyrics below) This song is the first song in their 3 song, 20 minute encore, so they had already played a 15 song, hour-&-20-minute set before this song. As others suggested, "Edge of the World" would be next in the setlist, starts mellow, builds to frenzy. Show opener is "Thunder Vengeance" followed by "Holy War". All songs have at least 1 solo each guitarist, almost all songs have both guitarists in harmony for a segment. Alfred Torres, comment gives you good info about the band members. Lovebites are a great example of the rock that doesn't roll. Five petite ladies playing hard and fast metal and enjoying it. Such a welcome change from guys wearing standard black with maybe blue denim jeans, for variety.

Yeah guys you just sow the winners of the 2018 year in category for best new metal band. Lovebites are the best metal all female power metal band at the moment in the world. Their last album Electric pentagram is nominated for one of the best 20 metal albums for 2020 year. Also the sound engineers who Lovebites work with are the finish guys Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila this guys doing the sound for bands like Nightwish, Children of bodom and Stratovarius. Lovebites are influenced by 80s metal and they always sing on english. You should check more songs from them like Thunder vengeance, Signs of deliverance, Swan song, Dancing with the devil, Holy war, Rise some hell. If you want to see how ballad from them just check the song Epilogue. The last concert Five of kind in Zepp Diversity Tokyo from this year is mind blowing stuff. Enjoy it.

Lovebites are sometimes referred to as The Angry Bridesmaids. One of the reasons why they dress the way they do is to stand out, there are a lot of bands in Japan, over 100 female rock/metal bands let alone the number of mixed bands. They all have their own looks just to make them a bit different from the others. Band Maid - maid outfits, Aldious - ballroom gowns, Fate Gear - Steampunk, Babymetal - had Tutus and so on for other bands. They also have different colours, so the fans can wear the colours as well, or have light sticks.

Lovebites is (mostly) a power metal band but they have influences from Metallica, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Slayer, Dragon Force, Gary Moore, Whitesnake, etc., and they’re developing their own style. I recommend their live performances; they really shine live, especially their latest concert earlier this year “Zepp Divercity, Tokyo 2020”. Other recommended live performances are “Daughters of the dawn”, “Battle in the east”, “Wacken”. Avoid “Bloodstuck” (bad audio). My song suggestions: “When destinies align”, “Shadowmaker”, “Break the wall”, “Rising”, “Signs of deliverance”, “Swan song” (with classical piano), “Scream for me”, “Raise some hell”, and a special mention to “Thunder vengeance” (mind blowing), “Dancing with the devil” (classic rock and bluesy vocals), “Empty daydream” (nice piano and vocals with catchy mid tempo), “Epilogue” (epic power ballad, great vocals, nice piano, scorching old school guitar solos) and “Edge of the world” (epic power ballad, nice vocals, nice guitar solos and song build up)

you are the only reactor who looking for the lyrics after watching them. Yeah, they only sing in English and their songwriting skills are really good. If you like old school bands like Iron Maiden, Judas priest, Metalica, Helloween etc. Probably you will like their songs. My recommended song from the Five Of A Kind concert: Holy War, Swan Song, Break The Wall, Shadowmaker.
You will realized that their music style sounds like British heavy metal plus European Power Metal.

This was from the LIVE concert and anything else from it is even more epic than this. Miho/bass and Haruna/drums came over fro the great female band Destrose and wanted a more European metal sound a la Iron Maiden mix that with Judas Priest and add some Dragon Force but then elevate it to a whole new level with Asami's bluesy vocals (English but learned phonetically) and you have the power band Lovebites who have not been around that long but were the 1st all female band from Japan to play at Wacken and Bloodstock in 2018. A lot of their song are upbeat and positive they even have some monster power ballad where Miyako (the tapper) plays the piano like a world class performer. Check out some of their thrash metal songs as well as this band is insanely talented.

Yep, you´re right. Japanese bands tends to emphasize the group over the vocalist. Lots of bands have small sections in their performances to let the musicians shine doing little solos. Also in the mix a lot of japanese groups put the bass not "in the bottom", you can hear the bass more clearly than in western mixes. In Lovebite´s case, the mix is more "traditional" because the engineers are european. The ones who do the mixes of Nightwish or Stratovarius: Mikko Karmila and Mika Jussila.
But from Japan, you must react obviously to ... X-Japan. The greatest metal band of Japan, try someday

Asami DOES NOT sing in Japanese, it's English(all of their lyrics are in English)...and I seem to have no problem understanding her. Asami style of singing has not been done in Metal before. Do you know that she was trained in America? Can you tell us what her style of singing is? Think and listen before you answer.
Stop being disrespectful about their clothing. Learn about the reason behind their style of dress. It's a direct contrast to the music they play.

Haha you losing your mind! There you go, Thor... in Swan Song, they reference Valhalla (Vikings, not Greco(Jupiter) Roman(Zeus))... overall I think the analysis was great and they left it just barely ambiguous on purpose.
So ya, they specifically sing all in English (but def an accent, second language is tough enough, she wrote those in a foreign language!) , part of their package, to pay homage to classic, thrash, power, prog & symphonic metal from its own origination, UK & EU. This was on their thrashy corner, but they have all of the above, Enjoy! 🤘💃🏻🎸😎
