I'll be honest, for years I just do what looks most appealing to my eye. It's not scientific, but neither are my clients so if I love the shot and they love the shot there's no need to spend more time and energy using this process. Great content regardless!
Totally. A lot of times judging by eye can work great. What I like about this is seeing how different fabrics impact the temp of a light source. And although, it can look good to my eye, the camera/color science MIGHT exaggerate the differences in light sources.
Gotta get me a sekonic, they're just so darn pricey. I notice color temp skewing to green really helps my aging skin (broken capillaries, gin blossoms, etc) look a lot better. Magenta makes me look like I've been beaten up... Thanks for starting this setup with an image I could relate to and building from there to an awesome result. Inspiring!
Thanks a lot for this video, very cool to see how to manage many color sources. Light is so technical. I'm just starting and seeing such a tool that helps a lot gives me g.a.s again 😂 I think before buying such a sekonic one's must invest in very accurate lights before to get the job almost done. That colorimeter is to perfect things for people who already know what they're doing so they can reach the next level.
By the way..... not sure you seen our new Muslin Inserts for the Aputure 150 Dome and the LightDome3/4 ruclips.net/video/JFUOzrZiUqc/видео.htmlsi=Ueba1b-JeORvUiQp
I've been thinking about getting this color meter for forever now. As everyone else already mentioned, the price is soooo steep. However I really want to get one because I'm tired of noticing in post how my light sources slightly differ from each other because of diffusion material, bi-color/rgb/daylight only etc. Ideally this would be something a gaffer would own and keep control of, but in my market gaffers don't pay attention to these intricacies, and definitely wouldn't spend their money on this.
Love this! Shouldn't your key light also be at 6500K? I can't justify spending $1600 on the Sekonic rn so i got myself an 'Opple Light Master 3', very accurate CCT and Spectrum and CRI reader, theres a few videos comparing it to the Sekonic and although it offers less tools, it's has pretty much the same precision for only $20. I was shocked!
Nice! The light was actually set to 6500k (its max cct), but the diffusion fabrics warmed the light up. If i had used a nova or something, I might’ve set it to 7-7200 to get the same temp as outside, but it still ended up looking fine and it warmed up the skin tones nicely so I’m not mad at it
I got this recommended and at first I had to check the channel name, the tone of voice is also similar. I suppose it's natural that other youtubers get inspiration and will eventually evolve to a more personal thing. I don't mind it.
@@WasabiNoisehaha ya this is just my try to be as quiet because my kid is napping and wife is on a conference call voice and also analyzing/concentrating on the shot 😂
I mean I don't mind it. I like his style. And you of course can do what you want. Just you even did the same kind of text on black screen and music...and even talk the same 😅 it's like...yeah take some inspiration, but atleast try to do it SLIGHTLY differently 😂
Ya well that’s just how I talk when I’m trying to be quiet and concentrate 🤷♂️. I even sound different at the end when I know the kiddo isn’t napping 😂 Been using lofi music and text like that for years tho. Thanks for the feedback!

A slightly leaning green light can often look less distracting than magenta. Kinda like if a guitar string is slightly flat vs slightly sharp.
There is a discounted demo Sekonic U-800 at Hot Rod Cameras.
love watching the process dude! thanks for this
Thanks man!
So enjoyable watching you work like this Tyler, learned so much!

It’s definitely an expensive item and something you’d want to be using on every shoot to justify the purchase
Im having trouble placing this lighting in time of day and weather. It looks nice but is this vibe mid-day, overcast?
Cool, how did you connect to the computer screen?
Camera: I was just looking at my phone.
Key light: Sidus link app on computer

i liked the moody look hah!
Me too! Looking back I should’ve dialed back the second light a tad.
Who needs a director when we’ve got kids:) that’s a wrap😂
Ya dude that was a hard wrap for sure hahaga
@@TylerEdwards been there brother, my kids always blew up my recordings, started doing them late at night when everyone’s asleep:)
How are you monitoring in your MacBook…?
I’m not haha I just have my phone propped up on the MacBook
what in the blaine westropp is this
hahahaha
If you don’t have $1,600.00 to spend on a light meter you can always use false color
Haha well you clearly didn’t watch the video 😂
Amazing how similar this content is to @BlaineWestropp1 videos
I’ll take that as a compliment. I love his videos. It was Blaine that actually encouraged me to make more content like this :)
