Dude this music just hits, i dont know if you will humor the idea. But you shoukd try useing a hurdy gurdy to complement your banjo, it will fill it out a bit more. But thats just my humble suggestion. Im glad i founf your music tho.
I hear some Panopticon influence, don't I? Great shit, dude. Not a lot of bluegrass has that edgy tinge to it like this does, and it's a style I really like. That banjo sounds amazing.
Love that you hear panopticon - I take that as a great compliment as I admire Austin greatly. An amazing guy. We both take strong inspiration from a love of nordic and american traditional music so that might be the culprit!
I am happy this appeared, I have been looking for this style of music for so long. It fits a piece of fiction I am writing. So thank you for sharing this.
If you're trying to learn clawhammer, my biggest advice would be to spend as much time as you need making sure you get the downstroke right before even thinking about adding the thumb :) Also remember to grow out your finger nail. Makes a world of difference!
I discovered this evening having put your music on repeat today that it’s “world meditation day” I can tell you that you have truly kept me sane today. Thank you 🙏
Thank you for your kind words. I'm not entirely sure what's going on with Distrokid (my distributor) but all of my music before High Mountain Rag disappeared from streaming and is now stuck in purgatory. I'm trying to get it sorted out, so thank you for checking.
this is one of the most moving pieces of banjo ive heard in a long time is there anywhere you have tabs i want to try and learn this more than i can put into words
I’m sorry friend, I don’t really have the time or energy to write up a tab for this. Since banjo comes from a largely aural tradition, it would be good practice to try and learn by ear!
oh hey man i appreciate the response :) dont be sorry bout it, i totally understand. just a real pretty song ya got! i will be attempting to play it by ear, wish me luck!!
Goodtime Americana. The ring is from growing out your clawhammer nail. A lot of folks try doing clawhammer with short nails and that's where a lot of tone and technique issues come from. You can either grow out the nail like I do or you can grab a finger pick to get that strong resonant tone.
I once encountered scuzzlebutt while lost in the woods, he gave me a hand woven basket. It was really cool to see his patrick duffy leg as well.
You’re welcome ;)
Playing alot of borderlands while listening to ambient metal banjo tracks is not the worst Friday I've ever had🤘
Rad
The melody makes me think of medieval folk dance songs. I like it, makes me feel like this is a song that’s been passed down many generations.
None afeared was I
But ahome I am, at apeace with the Spriggan
And inspiration for the next part of my d&d campaign was found.

That innocent man didn't deserver it... Nope, he did not. But that doesn't changed the fact that we killed him anyways.-Red Dead Online Moment
Nice, im not too great of an improv musician but i heard this and grabbed my banjo and started doing Phrygian riffs and it was sweet
Be still my dark Appalachian heart! So glad the algorithm placed you in my suggested!
Welcome 💙
Granny Weatherwax is pleased by this. Please continue.

Fabulous music, friend : )
Reminds me of the beast from over the garden wall
A beautiful series 💙

I've been looking for something like this for years. I listen to a ton of darkfolk already. This whole project is amazing! ❤️🔥🤘

i need to learn how to play claw just so i can play this
Awesome, didn't expect a banjo song have such traditional nordic sound! Which tuning do you use?
Nice ear! It's double C, no capo. The minor modal mixture common in Scandinavian dance is one of my favorite aspects of the tradition.
Wth this is so good
Nice job
Yes sir. I like it.
I'll be honest, I prefer Lawrence Watt-Evans' version of spriggans, but I can't argue with this music. This will be on my phone soon.
this is one of the most moving pieces of banjo ive heard in a long time is there anywhere you have tabs i want to try and learn this more than i can put into words
man i wanna be able to play this. what tuning is this in?
Double C, use natural minor for the A part and harmonic for the B part ✌

What kind of banjo is he playing. I have a cutaway Americana and it don't ring like this

any chance of tab? :D
I took one look at this and thought, now these people I understand! If you saw my drawings, you’d know why.🤗 I loved both the music and the art!❤️🤗🐝
Okay, I love this good work. But it sounds like the Shrek forever after video game soundtrack at times.
Reddit brought me here and I'm grateful 🪕 🖤
