Of course it shouldn't affect me, I really don't like how an economics degree is looked down upon as if it is easy to obtain. If you go to a reputable university, it is quantitive and rigorous, yet everyone is seemingly more impressed by a finance degree requiring one level of calculus (or none).

Hi, I'm an almost-graduate economics student. I'm considering pursuing a master's degree in actuarial studies, but I'm afraid that my college may not offer me admission for this program 😅
Hi Dr. A! Econ major here. I am planning on getting my masters. I have a few video ideas for you that is super helpful for people in my position (I haven't seen these on your channel). I know that this is very job-specific, but it would be really cool if you could do a video on different credentials econ majors get to be more specialized. Additionally, I am kinda worried about letters of rec. Maybe you could talk about that a little bit too, but idk if there is much to talk about there. Thanks !!
Really love that idea. I added it to the video production list. Shifted things around and hopefully will have it ready on 1.22.23. Thanks for the idea.
I just completed my masters in economics but I haven’t taken any specific concentration i had taken a general concentration what kind of roles can I apply for
Im currently a postgraduate taught student in MSc Economics and Econometrics. Do you think i could go forward with Actuary or Investment Banking analyst. These are 2 of the priority choices I have, but other than that i also plan to apply for business analyst and marketing analyst roles. Im just wondering if i could smoothly transition to either of the first two careers, because i would like to do it, but also wouldn't want to jump into something entirely new. I have knowledge on basic R programming (from undergrad), which im taking a certification currently for (to advance it), we have STATA as well as time series. Would these skills be sufficient?
Thank you for the video. I am getting an economics degree with a gpa of 2.5 range...will I still make the cut to get these jobs/internships you mentioned in the video? (my school is not top - notch elitist school, a state university in the midwest...big 10 school...)
Bryan, thanks for reaching out. Do you have other experiences that you can add to your resume? Research, experiential learning projects, coding skills? These all add value and depending on when you graduate you can add them.

Academia is a popular one but not the only. Econ PhDs are hired by government to do policy analysis, industry to model behavior and predict demand/pricing… join us on the discord to meet others that are interested in a PhD and studying economics. discord.gg/5f6tRjwwcW

Drop a link to a job that would be perfect for an economics undergrad.
1 : Market analyst
2: Actuaries
3: Research assistant
I thought actuaries were a math major, I’m aware this is a great career
I would add that any entry job available to finance majors is applicable to economics majors. The same is true for political science.
That’s a good point. Thanks for sharing
Just graduated with an economics degree & was the best choice I ever made
Congratulations. Welcome to the club!

Hi, the work you're describing sounds like the quant side of investment banking. You will have to prove your expertise in math to into it
@user-mt5uu4pz4j a good Econ background should be investing in your math skills too.
@@EconWithDrA definitely! I would say my coursework and modules have more math than econ for that matter. Its heavily mathematical
