I love how you give people tips, I also like how you give a disclaimer that if you don't like it get off and put it back the way you started! That's great 😊 not everyone will love it but you are amazing at coaching us over the web! Thanks for your time always 😊
What a fun surprise to see this video... I haven’t seen this trick since our Grandpa showed us back in the day! Never seeing anyone else do it, I thought he just made it up, lol! I have used it occasionally over the years. Thanks for sharing and reminding me of it, and our beloved Grandpa.✌🏻
This is just what I needed to apply to my gelding who is a little sticky to the left. What is really cool is I recently started to ride with Romal reins. Thank you Matt!
Thanks Matt. I have a three year old rooster wrangler daughter that I’m working turn around drills on. She isn’t quite tipping her head enough in the right turn around. Can’t wait to try this I think it will help set her up better on her own on that first step rather than me constantly trying to manage
First video I've seen on how to neck rein. I'm interested in getting an Arabian very soft mouth and hoping to make him a gymkhana horse. He doesn't neck rein yet. This made a lot of sense Matt.
I never thought.of that I'll have to try it. I learned a trick from Stacy Westfall when neck reining make sure their body is bent to the right direction 🤷🏼♀️ it's really helped with me but I'll have to try this thanks
Thanks for this what a great idea!! I was wondering, are you at the same time touching his inside with your lower leg/spur? Because that is a lot like "inside leg outside rein" is all about in classical horseriding. I myself am blending everything, riding a five gaited Icelander haha, take all the tips I can get. Thanks for a great short yet thorough video. So effective!!
I’m training a little pony (quarter pony) for my kids for when they get older. (I’m pregnant rn. Lol! But have a daughter that is 3) I know kids LOVE to pull and accidentally hurt things. so I’m using a Hackamore. Nothing in the mouth. I tried different things to teach neck rein, doesn’t seem to work with her. I guess it’s a pony thing because I’ve only trained quarter horses and one Clydesdale but they all had a bit in their mouths. I used to use this to kind of help but would do it with lunging. Is there any tricks to help with a horse that is using a hackamore instead of a bit? I tried using the lunge rope over the nose for it to get used to when it feels that pressure on its nose to go in that direction. I don’t know what’s wrong and I’m at a lost. Also not giving my kids spurs or anything like that. I don’t want this horse to be abused by kids that don’t know any better. Also, want it to be easy for them to ride her. I was going to buy a horse that was already trained, but I’ve never brought a horse that was very well trained besides one but they don’t have any for sell or anything that will be for sell. My Hackamore has a wide and soft cushion across the nose to prevent the horse getting hurt from the nose, if you are curious.
How do you try this with a horse that will not take a bit? We have a 9 year old mare that has been trained in a bosel and doesn't neck rain. My daughter (she's 9) just doesn't have the arm strength to keep riding her. Also, she's very anxious and has her head ALLLLLLL over the place! Any tips are appreciated. Obviously seeking help if I'm on RUclips lol
That sounds like nothing more than a lot of work! Prob need to start with a snaffle. Work on getting your horse soft in one rein 1st. And build from there
This is life changing. 😳 how have I not thought of this.
Good luck with it. Let me know how it works!!

Did this with my pony years ago and worked like a charm.
I first saw this video shortly after it came out, and three years later I'm coming back to it! Awesome video and very helpful

Wow I never would have thought of that...brilliant!
Old tip that still useful!
Very cool. I had never seen that method before. Thanks for sharing that!
Try it out if you need it!
I never thought.of that I'll have to try it. I learned a trick from Stacy Westfall when neck reining make sure their body is bent to the right direction 🤷🏼♀️ it's really helped with me but I'll have to try this thanks

Crossing the reins! Why didn’t I think of that! 🙈 suppose that’s the problem trying to learn western riding in the uk on a French trotter 😂

Does it matter what bit you use? I ride in a Rocking S Snaffle ?
Love your vidz and I was wondering did you have any experience with roping horses?
Thanks for watching! I have not done much with rope horses But I’ve had a few of mine go and do that job.
Will this work if using a o-ring snaffle?
Awesome. Matt, could a complete beginner reiner learn how to train and compete with your membership?
Yes they would! That’s why I started doing it! And as a member I will take your personal request for topics that you would like to see! 👊🏾👍🏾〽️
@@mattmillsreining1 signing up today!
does it work on snaffle?
Ok so I ride with split reins would this work for crossing them over?
Isn't that the purpose of the shank bit? Using a snaffle might be more useful?
