I don't know what the big deal is with all the talk of repetition. It's not that repetitive. There's tons of subtle changes going on; the timbre and EQ shifting and layering are fascinating. It's so well mixed. It's hypnotic and compelling.
I think it's one of those things you just can't explain to people really, you either "get" it or you don't. That being said, as a long time listener of repetitive dance music, Ricardos music can be a challenging listen even for me 😀
Haven't heard this track in years, but it's still amazing. Used to put it on whenever I went to buy groceries. Made me feel like a character in a video game.
This song is originally called Pobjednicki Cocek by Bakija Bakic who won the first place in the contest for the best trumpet called Guča, a traditional Serbian trumpet festival.
Villalobos played this last Sunday @ Fabric birthday, sounded nice on that super soundsystem! Raresh mixed it with another track for a good few minutes, one of many unique moments from Fabric's 18th birthday.

Se necesita un nivel de inteligencia y conciencia superior para poder entender esta pieza colosal, no esperen buenos comentarios de gente ignorante. ¡Grande Ricardo!
it's a picture from an old anatomy book, that's how they are always presented. if you look closely, you can see that quite a lot of functional parts have been exposed so students can learn them. the serene smile is 19th century politeness. of course there may have been a real head too, or many which are combined into one teaching image. but the ''injuries'' are just anatomy conventions.
This track reminds me of a festival i went to about 2 years ago (Sunwaves), there were Marco Carola playing in a tent, and Villalobos in the other one... I was so confused on where to go to dance.... that was when I heard this... Guess where i went. B-)
+John Penserate This years it was Ricardo in one tent and Loco Dice in the other...Guess what ? Villalobos killed it ..... HE IS A BOSS !!!! Didnt leave Ricardos tent , so I have no idea how Loco Dice was , but the magic that Ricardo played that night was out of this world....
I can see this would be an... acquired taste, but there's so much intricacy in the mix to keep yourself occupied with. If this is indeed a stroke of genius, it's of the mad variety.
At first I thought I had accidentally stumbled upon a mix, but after about 6 minutes I realized this is one muthafuckin beast of a song. Another commenter said how this song makes them feel like they’re in a videogame and I wholeheartedly agree, I feel like I zone into my own thoughts. I bet this would sound even more pleasing on K

how music tells stories. some of the modern electronic artists are poets but i always enjoyed the storytelling of villalobos' music. it's personal, no biggies, no epics...
This reminds me of Emir Kusturica's movies. It could definitely be used as a soundtrack if it was shorter, but I guess its length is part of the deal. Love it.

I just found it. Still playing...
I love the part that goes “bum bum bum, bum bum bum, bumbumbumbumbumbumbum”.
Started listening to this 15 years ago and finally finished it today, very progressive track with a hint of vibe. Nice

Honestly this is such a gigachad move, at my next DJ set I’m gonna bring in a custom mixed track that’s like 30 minutes and say that to the next DJ 😂
Listening to his song is like playing Civilization: It's already late and you need to go to bed or do other stuff but...just...one...more...minute...
"hey mastering engineer today i have only one track for you to perfect" - "nice i don't have that much time anyways"

ich stelle mir gerade ein Live-Konzert vor, nur mit den drei Menschen die dieses Teil so richig feieren. was für ne geile Party
Good track, a bit short but good overall
aaa
I like the part with the trumpet
Love his brain. Must be an interesting place to live. Like living in a Dali painting.
must make as much sense too since drugs destroyed him

nope! second sober listen today! once in the bath and now at work.
the length of this track is just about right for a ketamine trip haha
:D can't believe you just said that
that's what he was doing at the time .
You have read my mind 😂
Same
kind of short for a solid K trip though
Its all about that horn that comes in at around 7minutes. villalobos is just incredible and it can not be denied.
this track is barely getting started
Ricardo’s 7 Yard Mix - it’s all about that snare and the endless changes to the delay panned off to the left. Monster production.
this will be played in my Funeral.
haha
inside of it or at it ?

When ever he changes the beat and the trumpets disappear, you want them to come back so desperatly.
