That stretch of line between OxfordRoad and Piccadilly is such a bottleneck, and I consider Platform’s 13 and 14 at Piccadilly to be dangerous. They are being used for a purpose they were never intended for.

Any body see what went over the track when the train was approaching Maulden Rd?

As I always say plenty of room for a third track to the Ordsall curve (doesn't need to be quadruple) so I really don't see the problem. And the Mayfield site is still there.

Problem with what, and why does a third track on Ordsall solve it?

@@FlyingPhysicist Freight to be fitted in as well so a third track away from platforms 12 & 13 only a corner of a car park in the way.

@@juliansadler6263 I don't understand why a third track is required for that

Go and see for yourself. Quadruple would be nice but too drastic and costly. A third track is doable and affordable.

@@juliansadler6263 Whether it's affordable or feasible isn't really the point, though. Whether it's necessary to address a capacity bottleneck, is.
