I have been investigating cities in Canada for several years, to migrate with my family, but I just heard about Sarnia and I loved it! It gives me a lot of security to find a job, job stability and prosper. Thanks for showing me, buddy. We are from Argentina
Do not move here . Most people out of town do not like sarnia. They claim the resident are rude and angry. Pollution is bad from elevated benzene levels to Sulphur dioxide smell. Too small not a lot to do.
I am from sarnia. Lived here my entire life. Don’t go out walking after dark… drug problems have led to a rise in violent crimes. This city has REALLY taken a turn for the worse since the pandemic began. Overdose deaths are destroying my entire generation, and tearing this community apart.
I don’t want to sound like I’m just crapping all over sarnia… I mean, it does have a polished kind of gleam when it comes to the waterfront! And our beaches are fantastic! (wear sandals) The people in Sarnia are a different kind of strange. We all grew up and live 30 seconds from “chemical valley”. I don’t want to say Cancer Deaths too loudly, but I lost both my grandparents ON BOTH SIDES and countless others to different types of cancers. YES sarnia has it’s allure! Our marina is, I’m told, fantastic! And out restaurant scene is pretty great, if that’s your thing… But I’m of the opinion that Sarnia is a much better place to be from- than somebody’s final destination… no offence EVERYBODY in my city… but I’m not feeling very patriotic about our little patch of dirt. I’ve lost too many friends to violence or drug overdoses… just makes me sick. 😵💫
I grew up in Sarnia and moved away for work. After living in different places in different countries I have much more appreciation for my hometown. You can never go back home again but I visit as often as possible.

@@maneshagrawal8487 Every hospital in Ontario is hectic right now because of the public health measures. There may be some shortages of staff presently and due to taking patients from all over Lambton County it can be busy. But Bluewater is a good decent sized hospital with good friendly staff and a professional, clean and safe environment, definitely a good place to start. What position to you work in?
Big hockey town! Lots of great hockey players have come out of Sarnia. I hope we can all get back to the rink this year and start playing again. Thank you for watching!

Sarnia is a great place to live and grow.It is a little paradise. People moving from Toronto to London or other places have no idea how good Sarnia is if you have a good work from home opportunity in hand.It has some problems like every city has and the negatives have always been highlighted. This video makes some sense in showing some good about a great city.
Correct. He went to former SCITS secondary school. And pro golfer Mike Weir, who beat a prime Tiger Woods to get a green jacket, went to St. Clair Secondary School.
Qué hermoso lugar! Qué privilegio haberlo conocido y disfrutado. Un próspero municipio del condado de Lambton, muy pujante su economía, basada en el petróleo y su Chemical Valley. Grandes y ampulosas avenidas y elegantes negocios y comercio.
Use to live in Sarnia. Drove thru last month and was horrified. Roads are in terrible shape. Passed a gas station that was always neat and tidy but now is a dump. Not sure what’s going on. Passed a few people pushing carts with clothes and boxes.
No it was not a famous players theatre, although we had one up by lambton mall which had since been torn down. Imperial theatre used to be called Capitol theatre.
I swear I can remember seeing the Famous Players logo back then on the Imperial Theatre before it closed up. They reversed the sign which had the logo and I can remember seeing that. Then, they built the multiplex cinema which has been torn down, sadly.
I grew up in Sarnia. Beautiful city as a kid, but not anymore. Downtown core is dead. To prove it I need to say two words “Front Street”. Centennial Park is only partially open due to ground contamination from the old foundry that used to exist close by. Fortunately I only lived in Sarnia for 9 years. We used to joke that Sarnia was the only city with morning breath (huge petro chemical base south of the city). But over half of my family that spent their whole lives in the area have died of cancer. Sarnia has a cancer rate that is 44 times higher than anywhere else in Canada. You can thank Dow Chemical, Shell and all of the other industry along the St. Clair rivet for that.
What you say about Sarnia pretty much reflects my sentiments. I grew up in Sarnia as well. When I was a kid, Sarnia had some amenities that much larger cities didn't have and couldn't have afforded, but all the wealth generated by the petrochemical industry allowed it to have those things. Most of those amenities are gone, save for ongoing efforts to make the waterfront more attractive and functional. I remember attending an electronics trade show at Lambton College in the winter of 1977, where the main focus was on automated process control systems. At the time, I didn't know it (I was only 14), but what I saw was the beginning of the end of mass employment in Sarnia's petrochemical sector. I left in 1984 to study at Western and haven't been back since, except for occasional daytrips. I predict that once electric cars start becoming commonplace in 2030 and we finalize the transition to renewable energy sources, one or more of the petrochemical plants will start shutting down for good. Once that happens, Sarnia is going to have to reposition itself as a tourist haven and retirement village. Efforts to turn the city into a retirement village seem to be well under way with the demolition of the old Bayside Mall (formerly the Sarnia Eaton Centre) to make way for a seniors apartment complex and a small grocery store that will service the residents. However, how well Sarnia will make out with any attempts to become more attractive to tourists remains to be seen.
@@stevestruthers6180 Yep, Sarnia's hurting in the "tourist" department. Cobalt, Ontario (pop. 1118), has more tourist attractions and the town is so small now, they don't even have a BANK in town anymore.🤦🏼♂️
