He represented the patriarchy? O. M. G. Really? We’re you upset because he was a MAN, or because he wore a uniform that triggered you? I love your videos and have learned a lot from watching. I’m a retired RN, newly diagnosed - like last week - trying to learn everything I can before my next appointment with the surgeon, and didn’t expect to hear that from you. I’ll keep watching because you’re giving great info and you’re adorable on camera. I’m only on #006, but I really do hope you’ve had a great outcome. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much! Yes I’m a year out from my last treatment! I wish you all the best with yours!! I think you kinda have to know me. It’s hard to explain but generally, doctors in history have usually been men because patriarchy. I’m a nurse midwife. I work with people having babies. And all my other providers are women. It’s my medical world. I don’t have anything against men in general. I just don’t want any men taking care of me. It’s a personal preference and yes, I’d say a trigger for sure. In any case, he was nice enough. Had no idea how to do a breast exam.
I can very much relate to that feeling of being pressured not to advocate for yourself in the high pressure situation of an exam room. And I'm an incredibly assertive person usually about that, too. But I've had several experiences where I felt unable to speak up. It's hard! Thank you for sharing so much of this process with the world :-)
You are so powerful and I am so honored to have met you through the childbirth classes. Thank you for documenting and sharing your story. Sending love and light!
As a long-haired woman, with my hair probably a bigger part of my identity than the "woman" part, I can relate to your hair-falling-out comments.
OH yeah. It gets worse with the next video. I still miss it so much.
