"Nom" is *also* the Thai word for breast (both for women, and also in general like for "chicken breast"), with the same tone. Which meaning applies depends on context around it. The other word that is kind of funny here to me is "gin", which is used for "to drink" (there is another word for "to drink" but it isn't as common). The words in () are understood without being written. Hence Gun, who is already primed to be suspicious of anything Tinn says, jumping immediately to one of these meanings. Tinn has to clarify, and so how he does it in his next sentence is with "... gin nom raan meeh". "Raan" means "shop". There are two layers of possession here. "Raan meeh" means "mom's shop". "Nom raan meeh" means "milk (of/from/at) mom's shop". So, his clarification is that he "drank milk from (Gun's) mom's shop". If he wanted to be very specific about it being Gun's mom's *milk* shop, he could also have said "...gin nom raan-nom meeh", because you define what type of shop/object something is by putting the adjective/clarification after the noun, so "raan-nom" would be "milk shop" with the possessive "mom's" after. He also could have avoided this whole mess if he had actually said what the English translation said in the clarification "I had a cup of milk at your mom's shop" - "pom gin nom nung geeho raan meeh" - I drink milk 1 cup (of/from/at) mom's shop". Thai classifiers mean that, like in English when we say "piece of paper" or "cup of coffee", Thai does something similar. "geeho" is the classifier for cups, etc., that you would use for coffee, cocktails, milk, etc (there are some others, but this is the one we use most in my class), and in this context you put the number between the noun and the classifier ("nung" is "one"). So, "gin nom nung geeho meeh" would have been "drank one cup of mom's milk", which is still a bit messy, but likely would have at least removed "breast" from the list of possible interpretations, and in a less suspicious person, would likely have been taken as "the milk your mom sells" or something. For me, that has been really useful, having a teacher for the start as you figure out the tones, grammar, etc. In terms of books, we used the books by Benjawan Poomsan Becker (Thai for Beginners and Thai for Intermediate Learners) for the classes, and I have also been using Jintana Rattanakhemakorn's Reading & Writing Thai: A Beginner's Guide to the Thai Alphabet and Pronunciation for writing/reading practice, especially regarding the tone rules for different consonant classes. This is a really good one, especially if you are mostly on your own, as it comes with access to the online audio components, where as the audio parts of the BPB books aren't readily available (I don't think you can even buy the books with the CDs anymore). Listening to music and watching Thai shows also helps, though often the dialogue in series is still so fast that I don't understand it all. I decided to start taking classes if I could find them when I realized (years ago) just how basic/limited the subtitles were, especially for show in the early international access to Thai BLs (I'm talking 2018-2019 here), and I wanted to get a better idea of what was ACTUALLY being said, like with this joke from MSP. It's still hard, though, becuase they speak so fast :) But, I'm picking out more and more individual words beyond the basics like "I", "you", "no", "thank you", etc., which helps with the overall context, and occasionally, I understand whole sentences even when they aren't ones that we learned/used in class. Because the songs are a bit slower, those are really helpful, and I understand a greater amont of those without translations, even though the tones don't come through. Good luck!
