Oh Boy ! found you! thank you, like yourself, I cannot recall everything, I'm 75 and instant recall just isn't there! Up to now my sets are on hand written bits of A5, with crayon highlights for chords, (no laughing at the back, we've all done it!) Anyway, to follow your excellent advice and move into the 21 century, I can purchase a tablet, (a phone screen would be too small for me to see) and the Lyric pad. BUT, how would I upload/load/transfer/put all my hand written notes on to the programme. How do I get them on there, OR am I facing days and days of work, rewriting them all? let me know.
    Excellent channel, thank you

      hi,
I'm afraid that you are in for some typing but once it's done it's done forever.
If you look in the LyricPad folder (once you have your tablet, any cheap tablet should do, there isn't much cpu load,) you will find three .txt documents in the 'Lyrics' sub folder.
These .txt documents are the staple of LyricPad.
They are easily constructed using the "Text Document' utility so using the existing ones as a template create your own and save them all in that folder.
There are text reading programs but my advice would be to bite the bullet and get typing. That way you can drop in the chords where you need them etc etc.
      Hope you are succesful.

Nice overview. I've used it for a while, and actually set up dropbox and drop sync to automatically back up. I also use another app that uses not only text files but PDF files. (I believe the next version of Lyric Pad will handle PDF files.) as a sax player/singer sometimes I need the dots. LOL, and the other app has an alphabet bar down the side of the screen, so it's easy to navigate to a particular area of your list. My current band calls a lot of audibles so I don't even bother with a set list now. ;) It's a great little app.

John, I've benefited greatly from your Lyric Pad advice. Are you aware of the current kerfuffle about this program? As I understand it the Android op sys has been severely modified, so when LP3 users upgrade they are met with either lost or scrambled directories, songs lost, etc. More here if you want to know. Cheers from Australia.

The song files are all individual .txt files, as used in Windows Notepad.
You can use Notepad to make your own.
They are stored in a folder called 'Lyrics' in the Lyric Pad folder.

Do you have any suggestions? I just tried using lyric pad after a year off, and noticed I no longer had access to my data. So, Ian's video said to get the X plore file manager and then follow his steps. This leads me to the issues I told you about at the beginning of this message. It keeps telling me to choose another file. It even gave me an option to create a file, but that didn't work either. Please help. Thanks

hi, i use Version 2.52(full) so my comments relate to that version only. i have no knowledge of newer versions but have heard problems exist.
all data is written as ordinary .txt files, as used by 'Notepad' and they are stored in the 'Lyric Pad' folder. It is as simple as that. If probs continue i would save all .txt files somewhere else and uninstall/reinstall Lyric Pad. Then move your .txt files to the aforementioned folder.
      i hope this helps x

      Yes and yes 😀
The program uses .txt documents which are pretty much universal and can be easily created from .docs.
You just add them to the 'Lyrics' folder.
There are some small learning curves mostly to do with scrolling speed but nothing too hard.
