    Love how you've shared your whole process. Great idea for restoring thrift store bowls. You've clearly got a great system down!

    I really enjoyed your video and process. How can I take care of bowls I already have that need periodic care? Would I use Odie’s Oil Finisher?

    • @BirchesCo
      @BirchesCo  Год назад

      Yes! Make sure it has been cleaned and dries for a few days to make sure there’s no moisture in it, then recondition it!

    What was the name of the final product you use that creates the food-grade water barrier? I believe you said something_butter? I recognize your use of the Howard Products for the beginning treatment-I LOVE their Feed-N-Wax Wood Polish & Conditioner; it's the BEST! That being said, I'm going to trust your recommendation on the final step; oh, and also because you know how to properly use/conserve water when working outside. THANK YOU!

      Thank you so much!! I use Odie’s Oil, specifically the finish and stabilizer, the wood butter is a great one too. I try to use rain water when I can, especially since I’m just rinsing off dust and raising grain.

    What grade sand paper are you using? I am not making a dent with my mouse sander and fine grade sand paper.

      Hey Sharon! It’s best to start out with a rough grit sandpaper. I started with 80 grit, then worked my way up to 220. Hope that helps!

    How do you know if it's a hand-carved bow worth thousands and you're not destroying it?

    • @BirchesCo
      @BirchesCo  Год назад +2

      If it doesn’t have a name or branding then you just simply won’t ever know. But not refinishing or maintaining the wood will definitely make it worthless as the wood degrades

    What is the brand name of the Hand Sander? Question: I understand that you Refinished the wood bowl but did not carve the bowl; How does that give you the right to claim the bowl as your creation? I have a multitude of wood bowl of different size, I will be doing designs on them and I intend to Brand them: Art Designs By: (my name). Great Tutorial!

      It’s a Bosch orbital sander!
      I definitely don’t claim the bowl as my own creation, if there is previous branding or markings on it then I leave them on there and sand lightly around it. If it doesn’t have any branding then I add mine and clarify to anyone who asks that I had refinished it 😁
      Thanks!

      You definitely don't claim the bowl as your creation but then you go "brand" someone else's creation by putting your own.
      What a contradictive statement 🤔 lol

      As written in the description, I hand-burn “refinished by” above my logo, but that’s only if it isn’t branded. Every art restorer adds their name to the backing of paintings so it’s known that they have done work on it. It’s usually in the form of paper attachment, but obviously that wouldn’t work for any wooden creations because it would get damaged from water when washing. 😁
      Thanks!

    Branding it as your own is mind blowing. You only refinished it. Your branding is OFFENSIVE.

      I don’t brand it as my own, explanation is in the description 🙂

      @@BirchesCo when someone picks up that bowl it is branded as yours. The description does not undue the fact that you are branding it as yours. It’s deplorable.

      As it says, these stay in my own home and branded as I had only refinished it. But thanks for the input.

      I agree with @amblek9761. You can't brand it if you didn't make it! Sorry, you can't explain that away.

      It is not right to do for sure but, "mind blowing" and "offensive" is a bit dramatic.
