I spent a few weeks playing, as far as I can tell, this exact same deck. Watching how Trumps instincts differ from my own in this video has been very insightful about why I don't progress very far in ranked play. Edit: Actually, I can see one difference: I didn't run Defender.
Speaking as a f2p, I don't mind that they do the Heroic Brawl, I mind more that it's not an option alongside the regular brawl. I'm sure I'm just parroting what others have said at this point but if people want to spend that much gold for the chance to get huge rewards, more power to them. But don't forget about us unwashed masses.
That is the big thing here. If they simply had this as an additional option with another brawl people wouldn't be complaining. Thought knowing the HS devs that would require some small UI changes and they don't want to push out updates for something like that.
You miss out on exactly one pack because of it, and it allows a brawl designed for competitive players, unlike usual brawls geared towards less experienced players. In fact, it's the only gamemode ever in hearthstone designed solely for competitive play. Let the tryhards have something, and give up a pack for a week. It's not that big of a setback.
I think what would be a nice improvement to this brawl is if you could build your deck from all the standard cards, regardless of whether you own them or not. Otherwise I like seeing this brawl come around at the end of each expansion cycle so players can test their knowledge of the current meta against each other for high stakes before the meta changes shortly after when the next expansion hits.

I wish there were more comments about the gameplay and less complaining about Heroic Tavern Brawls in general. Not because I think that the format is great (they really should put wonky deck-building rules in it to make it more Tavern Brawl-like), but because I think Trump made quite a few nice plays in this video and even explained them well beforehand.

Because nobody in their right mind would try to play that shit more than once every few months, so it would be impossible to get a matchup if it was open at all times. It should just have it's own game mode that opens once every few months parallel to Tavern brawl.
It is highly unlikely that anyone would have that much profit as it would become more and more competitive as you need like 5-6 wins or so to get the value of around 1000 gold (though it also depends on how much you value dust) For everyone going over 3-3 someone else needs to get less then 3-3 to absorb those losses (since every win is a loss which needs to go somewhere) that means that unless there are plenty of noobs losing at the bottom then even good players will likely be knocked out and not get that far (since it will be mostly good players playing against each other and one of them will lose) And the only winner would be Blizzard who drains gold out of the game which might encourage some players to use money rather then in game gold

Know what they should do, let you pick 33 cards for your deck and use 30. So you can have a sideboard. Since you are locked out to change your deck and may run into heavy aggro, control etc, they need to allow you to not just go in with the safest deck.

Went 7-3 with High-Roller-Hunter (2 minion/28 spell Deck: only Barnes and Y'Shaarj). It's simple don't have Y'Shaarj in mulligan and win. Also: 13:22 and 13:54 +Trump it's Netherspite Historian not Drakonite Operative... you just discovered a random dragon and not a random card from his Deck.
It's again literally one week and if your so worried just play unranked like it's not that hard and if you get the tavern brawl quest just change it for a new one or just play something different for a week if you're gonna be so hurt about a brawl that comes around once a blue moon
this is a great even, the packs aren't what matters, it's just a high skill game mode for good player. just cos it's not aimed at rank 15 plays doesn't mean it is a bad even. (i didn't enter btw)

They've done it twice, and it's obvious why they do it before a new expansion; the powerful decks in that meta are as figured out as they'll ever be, and this is when the game is most optimized. Haters are just the bad players who take missing out on a single pack harder than a black dude's dick. Get over yourself.

I'd rather they just did a separate brawl if they were going to make any changes tbh (also an F2P player). I don't play brawl to be super competitive, I play it to have fun and this is pretty much just ladder but with gambling. Plus as people said it would devalue the brawl and make it super easy for the top players (as well as making streamers' runs a lot duller to watch).
I dont know whats worse... The players saying this is for good players (lmao) or the people who somehow qq for a pack. Its a bad brawl tho it needs some kind of gold regulation, so you can decide how much gold youre willing to risk... "Half of the gold means half of the reward" kinda thing. they should make the first heroic brawl free. They should treat players once in a while and it will make heroic brawl easier for the people who have the gold later on.

Holy Nova is also far greedier than Excavated Evil, being incapable of killing Feral Spirits and the 3 health Pirates.
