That's a sweet tarp. I picked up the HG Journey tarp last year with some Dutchware bling. You should check out the Hook Latch Splicing Needles from Dutchware too. They're great for making your own ZingIt soft shackles for ridgeline prussik knots or as a carabiner replacement. Made my own continuous ridgeline with them too.
"I like rocks." 🤣 -Justin 2023 Seriously though... awesome video and overnighter brother! That was some great new gear there man. Especially that tarp! 10 ounces... wicked light dude! Hope it serves you well for many an adventure to come 👍 That intro/outro riff was tight by the way! 🤘🤘
Great video Justin. Nice additions to the hammock gear. If I could swing it there would be a dyneema tarp over my Darien. As it is I also use the Dutchware continuous ridgeline. Makes hanging the tarp much easier.
I love using a continuous ridgeline. So easy to adjust the tarp back and forth to get it centered over your hammock. Bourbon! Headed to my mother's house? Coffee pot will be on, they would welcome you in and offer you food.
I think I am going to like ridgeline. A pretty slick set up. I will say that I have some more experimenting to do with ridgelines though. Bourbon!!!!! I like coffee and food!! 🤣 Cheers Doc!
@@ItsGoodintheWoods yeah, I like their album, Music from the Big Pink, released in the month and year that I was born. I also like the stuff that Dylan did with them that was later released as The Basement Tapes. It was recorded between 1966 and 1968 when he took time out after the motorcycle accident but only released in 1975 (well, at least officially, bootlegs not withstanding!). Then again, there’s not much that I don’t like of Bob’s, I’m a lifelong fan. I’m glad I gave you a sub. Anything for a fellow Bob Dylan fan! 👍
I have just ordered my Superiorgear Hammock 15/0F bundle for my 2023 Fall/Winter use.... because... (10 to 12 week production time). I leave my set/moisten gears in my furnice room to dry. If time sensitive, I run dehumedifier too.
When you said "This does not suck.", brought me back to my years in the US Navy, MMC(SS) USN Ret. How was patrol? Well, it didn't suck. How was WESTPAC? Well, it didn't suck. Highest compliment a sailor can give to something. Thanks for the laugh.
Hey Justin, This a great tarp, I picked up the 12' trap camouflage from HG, and I have been using the Rigeligne with TATO TARP CONECTORS from Dutchware to prevent tension and any damage on the trap. they work well in my opinion, Soft Shackles connectors are good too. cheers!
Nice man! My next one will be camouflage. You have a nice tarp. I am looking for different ways to pitch it. I don't like how much height you loose from the soft shackles. Cheers man! Have a great weekend
Dyneema doesn’t absorb water and sag like nylon. That must be a bonus with the hammock not making contact and possibly wicking the moisture through. I’ve had that happen with tents. The money is worth it if it works and you go out and use it. Enjoy 😊
That is a huge advantage!! It is pricey, but like you said, if you use it it is worth it. Well said. I don't have buyers remorse. So that is a plus lol
LOL when I heard "i like rocks " I immediately thought of " Lemme tell you something Joe Rogan, I smoke rocks" 🤣 Another great video! Has me itching for Michigan winter to hit so I can partake. Luckily summer is not long here. Take care homie
@@ItsGoodintheWoods I get it. I love me some tomatoes with coarse salt on them. If you want to get fancy....I stuff them with feta and herbs sometimes and roast them. Lol
Great campsite and a sweet tarp. I use a continuous ridgeline with prussiks. Different hardware but same concept. Works great. Do you think hammocks will affect your hot tent outings? I agree that the sleep is so much better in a hammock. I have a Silky PocketBoy 170 with large teeth. I have a lot of fun with that thing. I even take it on kayak trips and cut through blowdown on the river/swamp. It’s a machine.
I am going to get a smaller silky for sure. Hammocks are going to affect all my outings! I seemed to have lost my extreme excitement over hot tents. They are cool, and have their place. More of a solo thing for me. If I am by myself, and the weather is going to suck, I will use a hot tent. Because I won't mind just sitting there in the tent. Other than that. Nope. I'd rather be outside standing next to a fire.
What a great idea!!! Now I wish I had played some air guitar with the saw!!🤣 Maybe next time. However, I think I can raise the air guitar bar.......check out the very end of the video if you have a few seconds to do so. I think you might like it. Thank you for watching the video! I hope you have a great day.
Hahaha😂 my mom is in Nova Scotia can you pick me up on the way!!! Cool new gear, can't wait to use some of mine on some canoe camping adventures. Awesome job as usual
Been watching a bunch of your videos lately. I have a lot of the same gear, Dutchware, Hammock gear, Osprey Exos, etc. hike in the same areas as well up in the whites. Great videos, very well made, I really liked the great gulf wilderness trip with the southern guys. Im about 4 hours south of the whites - I’m assuming you’re a New Hampshire local?
You have good taste in gear🤣 I have lived in NH for the past 38 years! I like it here lol. That Gulf Wilderness trip was a real fun trip. Those guys are a blast to hang out with. Thank you for letting me know you have been enjoying the content. I appreciate that. Perhaps our paths will cross on trail someday.
That was awesome mate thanks so much for making the vid and letting us share in the adventure. I'm curious, being from the other side of the world, whether you have to worry about wildlife at that time of year? Also, how cold was that, and do you find hammocks to be better than tents in such cold conditions by being up off the deck? Cheers
I have never had an issue with animals.....actually, many years ago a raccoon raided my grill at night at a campground. Other than that, never been a problem. I don't recall the temperature that night, but I believe it was in the high 20ºF range. Hammocks can handle cold quite well if you have a properly rated underquilt. With the combination of a rated underquilt and an underquilt protector you can sleep comfortably in very cold conditions.
Thank you. I filmed this outing on an iPhone 14 pro max, no external mic. Just the phone. Edited on Final cut pro X. The flask had some Jim Beam in it.
I have that tarp in camo. Love it. If you are just going for a weekend trips it isn't worth it $$. If you are backpacking and are setting up and taking down in rain, it is worth the money. It doesn't absorb water and is really light. Biggest downfall besides the cost is it doesn't compact well.
I was today years old when I learned how to remove the pit from an avocado. The burger looked good buddy. A good night out!!
🤣 Happy to help! lol. That burger was mighty tasty
That tarp looks like winter camo to me.....; ) The joy of trying out new gear is a real thing...

That looked like a good night in the woods! A burger always hits the spot. The char from the fire and some fresh toppings. Now I'm hungry.
Burgers!!!!

Always entertaining and informational, nice job. Love your enthusiasm for gear! Figured the intro was a homemade riff. Sounds good.
Thank you very much. Rock on!
I love you're stuff man keep up the good work
Thank you very much! I appreciate that
I have the Journey tarp for winter use. I have the standard Dyneema tarp for when I want lighter weight. Though not much weight savings. Nice video.
Very nice!

I can't wait to see where you going canoe trips this year
It should be a good season! I have some plans......!!!!!!
A little riff at the end there. I like Bob Dylan myself. Blood on the Tracks is a great album to listen to, just before bed on a snowy night.
