Why is this tuneful, spirited , altogether marvelous concerto not as popular as overplayed Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov? So touching to read Paderewski ‘s memoir, filled with early struggles that would have crushed an ordinary man but then triumphs. His pianism (if never technically on this level) is underrated today, like his qualities as a composer. Thank you for posting !

Thank you for uploading this wonderful performance by Dan Thai Son. This is the first time I've heard this piano concerto by Paderewski which unfortunately is rarely performed today. It's quite a lovely and well-balanced composition, both for the piano and the orchestra. I especially like the second movement Romanza Andante which reminds me of Chopin's lyricism, with a dash of Dvorak.
