I know that some people watched my editorial assistant video and wanted some more info on what it's like working in publishing so when I got promoted I knew I wanted to make this, it just took me absolutely ages to get myself together!

Hello, I really like the video 🙂. I have 2 questions.
Do you work for an independent publisher? You mentioned that it wasn't one of the big 5.
Also do you think that not working at one of the big 5 may have been a factor to getting promoted after a year?
I've heard with independent publishers generally its a smaller team so there's more opportunity to learn/take on bigger tasks and progress.
    Thank you!

      Hiya! Glad you enjoyed!
I work for an indie sort of - we've been a UK publisher for less than a decade but it's owned by a bigger media group in Europe. And yes, I definitely think there's more room for growth at a smaller publisher and you're likely to not stay an assistant for tooooo long but not always! I know a couple of people promoted at the Big 5 a couple months after I was who started in the industry at the same time and I know people who stayed assistants for 3-4 years at Indies! Hope this helps
