Did I hear that right? 9 dollars per hour as a prison guard? I'd have thought it would have paid at least twice as much, if only for the danger involved. Hmmm... McDonald's or prison guard... McDonald's or prison guard.. would you like to supersize your fries, sir?
So this is the point you take away after watching an expose' (sorry if this is too complicated a word for you) on human abuse....both guard, and inmate? George Carlin was right when he said, there are too many dumb people in this country. What a great pool of labor for the sadistic 1 percenters.......dumb goobers who will do just about anything for a badge and a uniform.
Wow, thanks a lot Mr Troll. Next time you want to write "exposé," don't forget the accent mark (sorry if that is too complicated for you). My point goes deeper than surface level; that's what's called subtlety (another complicated word). The mega-corp who runs that prison more than likely charges the government significantly more than 9 dollars per hour for each employee. It's indicative (there I go with those complex words again) of their sociopathic (sorry) greed and highlights how, ironically (I have a thing for confusing you), the prisoners almost have it better than the guards in some ways-- at least the prisoners have free housing. You don't see 3rd world level wages as human abuse? It's no wonder they hire disgraced former cops and others who would struggle to find other forms of employment. And, of course, with people hired under such conditions, it's not surprising there are abuses of inmates. But does that matter to a privatized prison? All good, as long as the private prison mega-corp can maintain a steady stream of slaves... err.. inmates to keep share prices high and deliver dividends to shareholders. So glad I don't live in your country. Good day, Mr Troll.
This is why "Fight for Fifteen" should have had prison guards, paramedics, security guards, and EMTs as the focal point of the movement instead of fast food workers all those years ago. I truly believe the country would have been far more sympathetic to prison staff and emergency personnel. You'd be hard-pressed finding arguments against raising wages for those professions as opposed to fast food jobs. I imagine we'd have seen $15 dollar an hour wage hikes much sooner. In fact, To be brutally honest... Putting fast food workers as the face of the movement only further divided the general public. Made mockery of the issue and hampered any real progress.
@@bluemanchicago9421 prison guards are directly responsible for rehab process of inmates. the point is that they are “dumb goobers” because the job isn’t competitive enough.
Unfortunately my kin folk is here by a tragic circumstance & he got transferred from Angola State facility (after 14 yrs at Angola)& he said Angola was "BAD". But Angola he said was a club house compared to Winn. This place (Winn) was absolutely deplorable conditions & wild animals get way better treatment than they get. Someone needs to blow the whistle on facilities like this one. Pray for all affected.
Seriously Louisiana criminal justice system needs to be completely thrown out by the federal government and rebuilt. Everything from their prisons to Baton Rouge cops just arresting fellow black people because they have money... if NYC's stop and frisk made it to the SC I don't see how half of what Louisiana does is legal
The people that run private prisons & their investors are the real criminals who exploit the prisoners & guards alike. I hope you're doing better now. Good luck
If people think that private prisons are bad....they should look into state run prisons. Corrections Corp of America was a fine lubricated machine compared to state run.
I'm so impressed by your use of the English language, however, you did miss my point....and the main point about this being an expose' on sadistic cheap labor in America....or, am I wrong? I can /will be corrected
Actually was Bush senior that pushed private prisons as it is cheaper and believe it or not safer to house inmates in private prisons versus state-run. But don't take my word for it, I worked both all different custody levels most of my life.
Always GREAT to see that real journalism isn't extinct.....Cheers to you Mr. Bauer

I spent 4yrs in a cca located in Appleton Minnesota, I was a trustee in the medical block for prisoners it was horrible what I witnessed there
The people that run private prisons & their investors are the real criminals who exploit the prisoners & guards alike. I hope you're doing better now. Good luck
CCA AND the other group have paid off all the republican polticians . and most of the democrats, so they do exactly as they wish. mostly nothing
