This is my holy grail guitar piece. I am nowhere near yet, but I'm breaking it down into chunks and some day it'll click into place. So much great technique here. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Top flight playing, accurate tab, no bullshit talking "without further ado let's get started and jump right in", *and* the hilarious costumes and props. The ultimate learn a song channel!
We had a good thing Robert, we had a recording studio, we had Mr. Tabs! We made all the music we needed and it all ran like clockwork,, but you had to blow it all up, because of your pride and your ego!
You nailed the rhythm mutes and the solo 'indecision' mute notes, the full bends and the phrasing...you are mark Knopfler and I claim my custom kitchen.
Such a great job. The first band I was in was with my uncle. I never realized how much work he put into learning this tune. It's a beast of a solo. Wonderful phrasing. It's a master class of guitar skill. Thanks for making this video.
no words to say is perfect and I 've been searching for 10 years a good tutorial about this song , now I put in the garbage all the previous video that I have , really thanks a lot for sharing !!!!!!!
Love that bright full tone that you use to play so passionate that inspire me as a guitarist especially when you sound that lively solo where you really make your guitar sing!
You get a shiver in the dark It's a raining in the park but meantime- South of the river you stop and you hold everything A band is blowing Dixie, double four time You feel alright when you hear the music ring Well now you step inside but you don't see too many faces Coming in out of the rain they hear the jazz go down Competition in other places Uh but the horns they blowin' that sound Way on down south Way on down south London town You check out guitar George, he knows-all the chords Mind, it's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing Left handet old guitar is all, he can afford When he gets up under the lights to play his thing And Harry doesn't mind, if he doesn't, make the scene He's got a daytime job, he's doing alright He can play the Honky Tonk like anything Savin' it up, for Friday night With the Sultans We're the Sultans of Swing Then a crowd a young boys they're a foolin' around in the corner Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles They don't give a damn about any trumpet playin' band It ain't what they call Rock and Roll And the Sultans Yeah, the Sultans, they play Creole Creole And then the man he steps right up to the microphone And says at last just as the time bell rings "Goodnight, now it's time to go home" Then he makes it fast with one more thing "We are the Sultans We are the Sultans of Swing"
I'm always excited to see a new post from you. Another amazing job! I played with a guitarist that loved to play this song. It's a fun tune and great for just grooving out on stage. The crowd always goes nuts for it. All the licks in it are unique, raising the bar even further. I would imagine it's a challenging piece to nail, as you have. You are a legend sir! Cheers!
I finally found you! thank you so much for doing these songs my playing has really improved , youve made these songs new again , I just cant thank you enough !!
I was struggling to understand his strumming rythm pattern...now i understand he uses a flamenco technique with the thumb and index fingers! Thank you for the great lesson👍
up down up (raking muting down), up down up (down), up down up is how I was explained. up down up with a scratchy down at the end to bridge to the next part
@Mr.Tabs.Guitar.Lessons Your videos are absolutely gorgeous! I found your channel half a year ago, when I tried to handle Money for Nothing. No one did so much work in tabs to explain Knopfler's fingerpicking sequence. Five months, and with your help the song was learned. Now I move towards playing Sultans!
Hands down, THE best song-learning videos in the universe. IMO. And I just found them today. Now I know what I'll be doing the rest of my life. Thanks. $'s coming your way. 👍
Excellent tutorial! And you just can’t escape the fact that the versatility of the Telecaster’s tones shine through still the Swiss Army knife of guitars. Thank you so much for this it’s exceptional my friend.
Man, i am glad i found your channel! Amazing job! I love the detail and appreciate the work you put into it. I just don't know how i did it back in the day when there was no RUclips 😂😂😂
These posts are brilliant learning tools. Just a couple of very minor things I noticed in the tab: third note of bar 67 show fret 7 (F#) on the B string, I believe it should be fret 8 (G) which matches the fingering. Similar thing in bar 113. Bar 169 shows it correctly. Really appreciate the time, effort and fabulous playing you obviously put into these.
Even played it without a pick just like what Mark Knopfler would do! This is awesome man, thanks for this!
Hell I think his whole outfit is like Marks 🤣😎
Mark Knopfler is famous for never using a pick. This song is literally impossible to play correctly with a pick
Not all songs are ideal to play with a pic. It makes the notes snot
@@john2357 he uses a pick in many songs...
I’m happy I learned without a pick first, this song might be easier for me to learn after my grade 6
the whole song is a solo
Well basically........ yes it is
Y Mark Knopfler canta, mientras va tocando eso, impresionante.
Haha
yesn't
@@ArielBlackmore622impressive is an understatement.
Nailed in guitar (rhythm ,riffs and solos) ,nailed in fingerpicking ,nailed in clothing
Result :A+ (100/100)
Keep going !!!!!
I say that a 99/100 is fine, he just needs the lyrics
Wonder he wore the headband... Cant see
He didn’t use a strat though
The only thing left is the gu 2:15 itar 😬😬😬 but thank you very much, I'm currently learning the song and it's awesome ❤ 2:15
This is my holy grail guitar piece. I am nowhere near yet, but I'm breaking it down into chunks and some day it'll click into place. So much great technique here. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Rock on!
Hey Dave, good luck! I'm going to give it a go too
same. some day ill be able to play it i hope.
Can we not ignore that he's dressed like mark
FR
only thing missing is the cherry red stratocaster!
plot twist: he's mark
That's why I love this channel
right
Top flight playing, accurate tab, no bullshit talking "without further ado let's get started and jump right in", *and* the hilarious costumes and props. The ultimate learn a song channel!
Why do I feel like this is comment is targeted towards Marty
We had a good thing Robert, we had a recording studio, we had Mr. Tabs!

@@floridaman1644 because it is lmao
@@victorochoa3662nice reference lol.
One day I'll play this and I'll feel like god
Actually I feel like my hand was burned, but it’s worth it
that is my goal too bro 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I'm gonna try to do it soon
It's not that hard, just take your time
Its not that hard...
I'm going to enjoy it like you can't imagine it
Stellar performance! The finger picking is what's kept me from ever attempting this one, and you nailed it perfectly. Excellent job, Sir!
This is too good. Blown away by this guitarist's ability across all genres.
One of the most accurate cover and tabs, truly a great work👍
You nailed the rhythm mutes and the solo 'indecision' mute notes, the full bends and the phrasing...you are mark Knopfler and I claim my custom kitchen.

Bro Knopfler doesn't get near as much credit for being a guitar master. I mean this is just great.
no words to say is perfect and I 've been searching for 10 years a good tutorial about this song , now I put in the garbage all the previous video that I have , really thanks a lot for sharing !!!!!!!
Love that bright full tone that you use to play so passionate that inspire me as a guitarist especially when you sound that lively solo where you really make your guitar sing!
Thanks - This is the best I've seen this broken down, and you play it very cleanly. All the "country/blues/ Latin" accents just right.
3:28 for those who wants to learn the solo
It’s got time stamps
Spot on. Even the little muted string "clucks". Played with the fingers and all. Thank you for this.
Very articulate cover my man. The telecaster and your fingerstyle playing really do it justice. Awesome job.
You get a shiver in the dark
It's a raining in the park but meantime-
South of the river you stop and you hold everything
A band is blowing Dixie, double four time
You feel alright when you hear the music ring
Well now you step inside but you don't see too many faces
Coming in out of the rain they hear the jazz go down
Competition in other places
Uh but the horns they blowin' that sound
Way on down south
Way on down south
London town
You check out guitar George, he knows-all the chords
Mind, it's strictly rhythm he doesn't want to make it cry or sing
Left handet old guitar is all, he can afford
When he gets up under the lights to play his thing
And Harry doesn't mind, if he doesn't, make the scene
He's got a daytime job, he's doing alright
He can play the Honky Tonk like anything
Savin' it up, for Friday night
With the Sultans
We're the Sultans of Swing
Then a crowd a young boys they're a foolin' around in the corner
Drunk and dressed in their best brown baggies and their platform soles
They don't give a damn about any trumpet playin' band
It ain't what they call Rock and Roll
And the Sultans
Yeah, the Sultans, they play Creole
Creole
And then the man he steps right up to the microphone
And says at last just as the time bell rings
"Goodnight, now it's time to go home"
Then he makes it fast with one more thing
"We are the Sultans
We are the Sultans of Swing"
Excellent interpretation!
And for Dire Straits, sublime composition!
These are just incredible... the guitar with the tabs... just fantastic
Absolutely brilliant. I honestly could have believed I was watching Mark ….. So good 👏🏻
I'm just in total awe, thank you for making this. Learning this song is on my bucket list
When you get a chance can you please do Let There be rock - ACDC live at the River Plate.
I feel I can learn alot about improvisation with that song
Or just let there be rock in general, such an badass song. Or the live at Apollo from 1978
Awesome! This is the tutorial version I've been waiting for. Loving the whole thing but especially the white wristband detail! Bravo.

I forgive you for playing Sultans of Swing on a Telecaster, instead of a Stratocaster, since your TABS are amazing, once again! Thanks! 😁😁
