    Man, for $2000/£2100 you get native 4K, 3000 ANSI lumens, up to 240hz in 1080p and incredibly low input lag. That makes this the most bang for buck projector ever made so far, even better than most "cheap" ultra short throws. I feel like 4K 120 is JUST on the horizon, it's starting to appear in a few more expensive models like Epson LS11000/LS12000 and the Hisense PX-1 Pro, but if I could afford one today, this is the first one I'd go for.

      None of these projectors is native 4K. Also the Epsons are not. For 2000 bucks I can accept that. Native 4K is a different league. But they suck in 3D. (only 48/96Hz flicker in my eyes)

      The BenQ X1300i is terrible, despite it actually being £1050. It's only 1080p at 120Hz - but the image was no better than my PTAX200 (720p LCD) from 2008 - far too bright and colourful (in all of the 3 gimmicky 'GameMaestro' defaults)! The 3 killer flaws are: Extreme #RainbowEffect; The fixed beam angle (vertical shift) is designed for table top (1m) workplace presentations, or ceiling mounting (where it'll overheat due to hot air rising) - otherwise you'll have to use the poor keystone shift, which will give the image a huge border and reduced size, and increase input lag; Overheating - the image will freeze/stutter at room temperatures below 30C (well below claimed 40C max), and the fan will be at full revs and very loud. Sorry, this projector isn't it.

    • @goatlps
      @goatlps Год назад

      Everything has less input lag at higher resolution/Hz - which is maybe counter intuitive to non-nerds. The BenQ has more lag with keystone, but a human probably won't notice it. But you'll definitely need to keystone as the beam angle is designed for a ceiling or 1m desk! The keystone is never perfect and will give huge borders and a smaller image. If you put it on the ceiling it'll overheat and the image will freeze (warm air rises). The BenQ is very poor and overpriced. It's 1080p with huge rainbow effects - my 720p LCD Panasonic projector was better and only £800 in 2008.

      @@goatlps why are you such a gigantic hater of this projector i have never owned a projector and am about to buy this thing....your comments disturb me

  • @goatlps
    @goatlps Год назад +3

    I found the BenQ X1300i to have massive rainbow effect issues (supposedly, in the USA, you can get a firmware update to improve it, but you have to send it away).
    Because of this I didn't bother looking at the image/colour settings outside of the 3 gimmicky 'GameMaestro' gaming modes - of which RPG seemed most real. However, I only used the projector for gaming with my Xbox Series X, and reds did seem unnaturally colourful, with no contrast on smaller images, but that might be correctable by tweaking the contrast settings and reducing the brightness, which I had more of an issue with - it's blindingly bright. Large white text on darker backgrounds has a glaring/blurred edge to it - and smaller white text never looked 100% focused.
    I've only had 1 projector previously, a Panasonic PTAX200 (720P, LCD), for 10 years, so I'm not as knowledgeably as most users here, but I can still point out to people like myself issues they will/might find.
    Other than the intolerable rainbow effect (apparently not everyone can see this, but on the X1300i it's probably obvious to everyone), I also didn't realise it's really (for most people) purely a ceiling-mounted projector. The bottom of the image (or top if placed upside down) is only "8%" below the centre of the lens - I suspect this is quite extreme, and unworkable for most people, without huge amounts of keystone (which is very difficult to get square, adds large borders/reduces image size, and also will increase the gaming input lag, according to BenQ - who say don't use it). The ideal placement for it is on a table just 100-115cm (?) above the floor, which is impossible if you need it behind you, as you're in the way of the beam - otherwise you'll need it ceiling-mounted or on a very high shelf, which will further increase overheating (and it only has a 6ft cable).
    I have shelving at 145cm and 175cm - neither are compatible with the beam angle (vertical offset). Without huge amounts of keystone the image is either too close to the floor, or is projected onto the ceiling!
    I also found the X1300i 'gaming projector' slowed my XSX a large amount when going to/from game to home menu, showing a black screen for several seconds (4-6s).
    As for the remote control - it's not back-lit! Has the designer ever been in a projection room? You'll need to keep a torch next to the remote if you want to see what buttons you're pressing.
    I was only impressed with the coolness of the vented air from the LED light source system, which was only ever warm, and never hot. However, the BenQ still had major overheating issues! I tried gaming when my room was quite hot (25-30°C) and, despite the 'TEMP' warning light never displaying, the fan was loudly going full blast from the moment I turned it on, and my gaming image was freezing for 1s every 5s - so completely unusable. My room was well below the claimed "40°C Max Operating Temperature."
    I am hopefully getting a refund of my £1053 outlay.
    At that price, I cannot recommend the BenQ X1300i at all, unfortunately, when I was hoping it'd be great.
    In summary, with it only being 1080p, I found it to have poor gaming console performance with overheating issues, it has some intolerable image effects, and an unworkable beam angle (ceiling/very high shelf mount-only): 2/10 (possibly worse than a 'Yaber' V6, and that's only £186.99 😅).

      Also appreciate that people have varying degrees of sensitivity to the rainbow effect where most people have stated that the x3000i doesn't have one or minimal at best. If you are particularly sensitive to this, then no DLP projector will do and you'll have to get a 3LCD projector.

      Stop using the word 'trash'. The contrast ratio for this is probably its best feature, which is supposedly 500,000:1. However, the projector has actual real flaws. LG C9/CX/C1 77" OLED TVs are over £2k, but that's a moot point, as 77" isn't big enough - a 100-120" projection wins even if the image isn't quite as perfect. Projector is pretty awesome been using mine for a month. 2 issues.
    1) repeatedly saying it doesn’t have an internet connection when it should.
    2) no Ethernet making the QS01 dongle lag on 4K titles.
    Other then that it’s solid.

      You can't see the huge rainbow effects? Also, wait till your room gets warm - the X1300i will sound like a hairdryer and then the image will freeze every 5 seconds. I wasn't even impressed with the image - far too bright and colourful. Also, the fixed beam angle is designed for table top presentations, otherwise you need to use the poor keystone controls, which ruins the image and increases input lag.

      @@goatlps I have the x3000i, not 1300. doesn't freeze, not a single time. no rainbow. don't use keystone as i ceiling mount, then have the projector at a crazy angle. firmware fixed internet issue i was complaining about. can't really fix the no Ethernet. my living room is always 68f-76f. only thing i need now is the rest of the 3D capabilities to do SBS or OU. Sorry yours doesn't work. I went from an Optoma UHD30 to this X3000i and really couldn't be happier.

    It's worth mentioning that the Lamp cannot be replaced by the customer, it has to be sent in to BenQ. That could be a $400 fix :(

    • @jgill1064
      @jgill1064 2 года назад +2

      I'm confused by your comment. This Benq uses LED's as a light source with a life span of 20000 to 30000 hours so replacing a lamp is not necessary, there isn't one.

    • @sputzelein

      Lamp repacement won`t be 20% of total price, instead it could be a total write-off. But thats not the plan. Lets hope the best. I am definitly interested in this machine but I still can`t buy it here in Germany.

    • @egyptianplayers1
      @egyptianplayers1 2 года назад

      You don't replace LED or Laser light source. It will drop to 50% brightness after 20000 which is quite a long time, by that time you will eventually like to upgrade to a new projector.

    • @goatlps
      @goatlps Год назад

      @@jgill1064 the light source is 4 LEDs - obviously the part can be replaced, but only by BenQ. As the lifespan is potentially just 20000hrs then it would be necessary to change the 'lamp', or you have to throw the whole thing away. An avid/pro/unemployed gamer might use up those 20000 within 5.5 years if they played full time (10hrs a day). There's also European legislation trying to make electronics easier to repair and last longer.

    • @goatlps
      @goatlps Год назад

      @@egyptianplayers1 LOL that's what BenQ told me! It will be dead after 10yrs at 5hr/day, but they said it could possibly have a replacement part fitted by them, but in 10yrs they'd probably say it's a discontinued part. My Panasonic is from 2008 - and still working (it needs a new lamp, and a cheap lamp damaged it, so I need a whole new projector, but it otherwise would still be good after 14yrs, so you might not want to upgrade at all). Gadgets should be built to last and be repairable nowadays, not completely disposable.
