Hands down the most underrated rock band ever. A couple of dodgy albums in the late 90s with The Thrill of It All and Giving the Game Away, where they changed their style too much. But came back strong with Shooting at the Sun and have not looked back since. A truly great live act too with fun and games to accompany the music.
Aged 19 and the first time I'd been to MoR, Thunder came on and blew the crowd away. It was quite simply one of the most magical days of my life. I had loved the album when it came out but I wasn't expecting them to be so brilliant especially as they were opening. Adored them and their music ever since, seen them quite a few times since then as well and they've never disappointed.
Holy moly only just found this video, thunder were awesome live I think the almighty followed them and effing awesome too!!! I was 14 and somewhere in the sea of people, absolutely awesome memories wish I back there again now 🍻🌩️🌩️🌩️🌩️🌩️🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘‼️👀
When I arrived I hadn't heard of Thunder. Just thought get them over and done with and look forward to Aerosmith abd Whitesnake. We was right up front when Thunder set the standards that IMO the others didn't quite reach. Seen Thunder several times during 90's now need to see them live again.
I was at that gig and despite loving the album it was the first time I saw them live. Over the years Ive seen them many times, they never give a bad gig and they are still my fav band.
I want it to be 1990 and I want to be there in that crowd. I finally saw them at Donington 19 years after this with someone who wasn't born when this show happened!
Epic performance. Thunder were never really under-appreciated - they still have a lot of fans. Never understood why they're not ranked alongside Queen, GnR or Whitesnake. Great band. And Danny's voice is literally iconic. Maybe timing is the issue here; they formed in 1989 at the tail end of British Rock's arguably best decade for stadiums. They woulda been massive five years earlier. They got big early 90's and then it was Grunge Rock time, Nirvana, and the record industry was changing. No money for marketing or publicity all of a sudden. Computer games happened. None of that matters because their fans and musical ability put them back on top twenty-five years later.
I saw them in a bar in Canada maybe 60 people insane ..they were doing a promo tour so for the record company so they just Gave it SHIT ..One of the best bands I will ever see ..Danny sat on my wife lap and sang ..she loved it, fuck I loved it best voice in rock and roll...best band SOOOOOO Underrated
That would quite possibly equate to the most memorable day off your wife's life out side of the wedding. Hope you got a handshake or hug from him too, as he he seems like a genuine down to earth bloke.
this was my first concert, I was only 16, and to this day the hair still stand up on my neck when I watch these guys, and have loved these guys ever since 🤘
this was my second concert my first was motley crue , skid row and white lion in Wembley in 1989 god how lucky was we to see all these great bands instead of the rubbish they have out today. seeing thunder again next year in Cardiff and I cant wait
I saw them in 1984 supporting Meat loaf when they were called Terraplane. That was my second gig and I was 10 yrs old. First gig was Rainbow when I was 9. Thunder are an extremely underrated band. God bless Rock
Danny has a radio show on Planet Rock and told a story a few weeks ago about how he lost his voice shortly before this gig because the tour bus driver switched the air conditioning on. He had to have some injections to enable him to sing - wow, a close call as Donington went quite well for them didn't it?
I was there. I might be dead when you read this comment. Just know, we lived so you don't have to. Enjoy your A.I. generated rock music made by the same A.I. that took your job.
1 of the most under rated UK rock bands of all time in my book. Brilliant!! and Danny Bowes, oh man, what a voice!
ian whitehead This is one of the best rock songs ever - especially this live version. Cranking it out
Still listening to this in 2019
Because they kind of suck
Agreed ✌️

The Quireboys straight after were a complete comedown from this set. And I like the Quireboys….

100%!

I want it to be 1990 and I want to be there in that crowd. I finally saw them at Donington 19 years after this with someone who wasn't born when this show happened!

Remarkable live. Seen a few times. Such showmen. One of the few that Made my youth memorable.

Im from Brazil. I dont know This band. Its hard rock very very Good!!!
I was there and Thunder OWNED Donnington with that set.
Thunder are the most underrated band of all time. In my humble opinion in a very distant 2nd place behind Zeppelin, but in second place.
Very intense beginning. Gets your blood going. Cannot get enough of this band they rock.
I love this voice!
I'm in the crowd, 30 feet from the stage Great day!!!
this was my first concert, I was only 16, and to this day the hair still stand up on my neck when I watch these guys, and have loved these guys ever since 🤘

Me too! I thought I was the kiddie being 16 and at Donington drinking warm lager from a huge plastic bag! 😝
And you've got a 37 as your profile pic, top man! I was raised on Rock/blues and locos 👌
Most top notch musicians can learn a trick or two from these leaders.
Props to the live sound engineer!
Glory days of rock
I can’t think of a more solid MOR, what a day, what a line up, what a gig...what beautiful memories....”Take the fackin roof off Donnington”
I was there. Fabulous!
And to think he had lost his voice prior to the gig bloody marvellous 👍👍👍👍
Great gig, great sound!
Danny has a radio show on Planet Rock and told a story a few weeks ago about how he lost his voice shortly before this gig because the tour bus driver switched the air conditioning on. This was, without doubt, one of the best gigs I ever saw.
My fucking hero and main mentor
Best British Rock voice since Paul Rodgers. Nobody comes close since
Ha ha ha ha. Good one.
Sounds a tad like David Coverdale which is a big compliment.
Great singer
Saw them support Aerosmith on the pump tour at the NEC in 89 and then many more times including this, my third Donington
Their best performance
Yep I was seventeen and thought I was too cool for Thunder till they blew me away that day, best band of the day and two years later
I was 15, they were one of my favourites,
Was lucky enough to be there. Awesome as it looked.
